Yeah, but Spanish Atlantis is incredibly weak -- it's where the rejects who couldn't hack it in the much more lucrative Spanish Americas ended up. Without French Atlantis as a buffer, it falls as soon as the British (or independent) Atlanteans decide to take it.

I haven't read the two short stories, but it might be interesting if a slave insurrection makes Spanish Atlantis such a dangerous chaotic land of massacre and counter-massacre that both groups grudgingly accept anglophone intervention and rule as preferable to yet another round of killing.

Spain still has part of Atlantis but it won't for long. The Atlantis subsection of the Britain article on the Turtlewiki said as much (you wrote it) and even if it didn't the writing on the wall was clear. Hell, it's what they were talking about on the last page of the book.

Spanish Atlantis is somewhat reminiscent of Florida at the era of the American Revolution, though much more violent. Maybe cross Florida with Touissant L'Ouveture's (sp?) Haiti.

Slavery ending via insurrection sounds promising.

Italians are still Europeans, and so are most Jews; I assume it will be Eastern European Jews who move to Atlantis, not Middle Easterners. Gaining positions of prominence is consistent with American history, though if it happens in the era of Arthur Conan Doyle it's coming ahead of schedule. On the other hand, the mini-continent was discovered 40 years earlier than the New World so one would expect things to be moved up.

The effect of transAtlantic colonies on the War of the Roses, however slight, was a novel take.

Speaking of novels, when you say the two stories will be incorporated into USA, I hope you mean referred to, not included, even in expanded novella form. I haven't read either of them so they're new to me but I still find that sort of repackaged laziness distasteful.
When you wipe your ass, make sure you wipe it really well.

I saw Opening Atlantis at Barnes and Noble for $12. I might buy it when I have money again (which should be soon), read it, and then be ready for the next book.

I got out early tonight, so I took a little trip out to the Barnes and Noble where I saw OA on discount. I almost didn't see it because the staff moved it to a different spot on the table, but luckily I saw it just when I was about to give up. Otherwise I would have had to wait until it came out in PB.
