The US gave up legitimate claims to northern Texas in exchange for Florida. Even though the mess got all big and international when Jackson invaded, the deal Adams worked out was fair for Spain. Frankly, although Jackson overreacted by toppling the Spanish government in West Florida entirely I don't think he was totally out of line crossing the border in the first place -- Spain was unwilling or unable to stop raids from Florida into US territory, after all. The bits of Florida we stole outright aren't part of Florida anymore -- they're the coastal regions of Alabama and Mississippi and most of Louisana east of the Mississippi River. Back to the original post. A revived Communist Party seizing control of Russia isn't impossible -- after the disaster that was the last war I could see the Czar falling, though there are plenty of different kinds of rebels who could take his place. However a shrunken, nuked, civil war-ravaged Russia that's lost millions of military-aged people doesn't have the slightest chance of beating Japan in this timeline. Not gonna happen, no way no how. I expect rebellion in China, but there's no particular reason to assume that Communists would be in charge of it. The rebellion would probably be a coalition of everything from Communists and anarcho-syndicalists on the left to Qing loyalists on the right, all united by their hatred of the Japanese invaders. Unless a charismatic leader emerges who can cement a more permanent arrangement I'd expect a nasty civil war in China as soon as the Japanese are driven out -- which won't be any time soon, they're brutal and determined and probably will only be forced out of China if they lose a war to one of the other great powers. |

I'm already the Grand SladeJack. The US has never changed its name after any of the other large territorial expansions it made, though. |

Flora & FDR did speculate about another Red uprising in IatD. It was just after Petrograd was superbombed. I don't recall what conclusions (if any) they reached. |

"See how Un-Funny it is when I explaine it?" "Explaine?" Is that what Gizzie does when he walks us through the Evidence that the late Strome Thurmonde will hold down the fort in the Ce Se while Jakee Featherstone and Jonathane Mosse plot the downfall of Florae Hamburgere's new career in national politics from the safety of Rhodesiae? |

Someone on AH.com is pretty damn insistent that the Japanese empire is on the verge of collapse, ala the British empire right after 1945. |

Based on what? If anything, it's probably the most ascendent (proper word?) it's been in centuries. Good God, HT parallels OTL, but not every fucking thing. |
