William Faulkner in TL-191

Sorry, I know that this may be kind of old but I wonder what Faulkner would have been doing in TL-191. He probably would have been conscripted by the confederacy during GW1 and maybe would have written an All Quiet on the western front type book in this timeline and been a Remarque anolouge.

I'm surprised that HT didn't have Faulkner appear, that would have been a good subplot in something like TVO to show Faulkner as an author with the freedom party stalwarts after him for trying to write something anti-freedomite. I know that in OTL he was not a very political author though so that might not work.

2 Yes you have. You attempted to try using one on me. Just sit back, shut up and work. People like you are peons in our corporatized world so accept it. Or at the very least accept us liberals who get you benefits like socialized medicine.

That's actually a very good question. Faulkner may not have been particularly overtly political in his writing, but he was deeply concerned with what it meant to be a southerner, and I think he'd be compelled to take a stand on what the Freedom Party's interpretation of southern nationalism meant. I don't see him falling in line behind the Snake's policies, I think he'd end up dead or in exile. The same with the very subversive Margaret Mitchell. And of course Tallullah Bankhead would be in Hollywood mostly playing southern villainesses.

Unfortunately, the fact that it would have added some texture to the story makes it less surprising to me that it didn't happen, not more.

Or he could have just died during GW1, that's just what I assumed happened to most of the prominent people OTL that don't show up in Tl 191, like Einshower.

Except that Eisenhower did show up. In GW2.

I remeber Ironhewer, but I'm not recalling Einshower, unless it was IaTD.

German "Eins" = English "Iron".

German "Hower" = English "Hewer".

Eins - hower = Iron - hewer

Oh how twee! :P Especially since he took Patton's surrender.

However, if you mean did someone named exactly "Einshower" then no, he didn't show up.

Ironhewer is twee, but it's not something like MacArthur having a different first name. I'm going to consider them different people.

Would that that were true . . . :(

What was the Tweedom I came upon in MwIH just last night? Oh yes, that's it: Heydrich thinking that if he were killed or captured the US would announce "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him." Took me a minute to remember where I'd heard that sentence before but once I did I got right down to the task of groaning.
