In TL-191 Americans Germanicized non-German names rather than the other way around. The Eisenhowers wouldn't Anglicize their name in this TL. Different guy.

Omar Bradley probably was never born in this TL since he had one grandfather on each side in the Civil War. Too bad, I like Bradley. A fair number of others likely did bite it in the Great War the way Jimmy Carter apparently did in GWII. Carter's the only example I can think of of a famous person being specifically mentioned getting killed early. Strom Thurmond got caught in that air raid in '41 but I don't remember if they confirmed his death or just implied it. I don't recall any early famous deaths being reported in the Great War, though I'd be shocked if there were none. After all, 3 years of heavy fighting compared to roughly 6 months for the USA OTL, millions of deaths compared to somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 OTL... that's gotta have an effect on the famous.

I'm racking my brain but I can't come up with anyone either.

Maybe HT kept it vague so he could use it as a catch-all excuse should he overlook the inclusion of someone important later on?

Did the reporter who had a heart attack in the trenches die any earlier than OTL?

And Pershing was assassinated between the wars, but that doesn't count towards Great War deaths.

No, he died on schedule as it were.

What was the Tweedom I came upon in MwIH just last night? Oh yes, that's it: Heydrich thinking that if he were killed or captured the US would announce "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him." Took me a minute to remember where I'd heard that sentence before but once I did I got right down to the task of groaning.

Your groaning over the book won't be ending anytime soon. It may increase.

I think I've got about 150 pages to go.

The stubborn refusal of the Allies to cooperate--is that HT poking fun at anything in particular about the Iraq War, or maybe Vietnam or Afghanistan? I recognize that since the Coalition is hardly analogous to the Allied Forces, there's a good chance it's not, but it still made me wonder.

For those of us who haven't gotten the book yet, could we keep spoilers, even vague ones like these, in the proper thread please?
