There's apparently a novel out about a couple of people getting zapped back from 2004 to 1934 and providing downtimers with knowledge of the future, resulting in a very different WWII. From the brief description it seems to be following the tradition of Lest Darkness Fall more than Axis of Time in that it sounds like the time travellers can only provide information, not equipment or large numbers of trained personel. It's more like The Proteus Operation or AoT in that there are time travellers helping both sides instead of just one, though.

Anyway, has anyone read this book or read more detailed reviews? Opinions?

Sounds like it could be interesting. This is the first I've ever heard of it, though the title seems vaguely familiar.

There's a free preview of part of the book online that I read... it's here: preview

I'm afraid I wasn't that interested in the book.

Well that wasn't terribly informative.

The fact that the fellows in charge decided World War II was inevitable in 1934 and did nothing to stop it, didn't even try, made me lose all sympathy for them. That monster should have been strangled in its cradle.

As intrigued as I was by the premise, I found that sample section drained a lot of the enthusiasm from me.
