Photobucket turning nasty; Banning linking from forums to images
Topic Started: Jun 30 2017, 03:27 PM (393 Views)

Looks like Photobucket are trying to milk their users as they have intercepted links from forums etc. to images stored on PB.

If you want to continue doing it you need to take out what looks like a pretty hefty subscription (reportedly $399 pa).

Any existing links to photos get replaced by a message icon.

Not happened to me yet. Are you sure it's not a hacker scam?

Paul Brown has posted on Facebook that he is experiencing 'difficulties' with Photobucket today. I do keep going on about it, but Flickr is a better platform for photo hosting. I have had no problems with Flickr in the 3+ years that I have been using it.

Seems to be happening to a lot of people on many forums.
I have also had an email from PB about it.

It appears to be happening to those who have a free PB account at present - anyone with a subscription (for add-free version) seems to be unaffected for now.

The same thing happened to me today. Yesterday the photos in my threads were fine, today they're all gone, going back to late 2008.

Just checked the PB web site and they have changed their terms and conditions.

Looks like you now need their top priced subscription to do what many have been doing for years.

Looks like they don't want to host photos anymore, $399 is a crazy amount of money. I notice that Fred's pictures have been locked, mine haven't yet but I expect they will be in a day or so as they work through the millions of users.

I have a Flickr account, looks like I'm spending the weekend uploading photos...

I use picture trail and find it very good for what I need . That said if they started asking silly money I would just stop posting pictures .
