Sorry chaps but I am going to have to pull out of this one. I have just been told I have Kidney Stones and am in constant pain, so really wouldn't be the best of company :P or up to travelling to the venue.

Have a great day, I look forward to seeing some pictures :thumb:

Cheers Colin, I have some pain killers, just waiting for an X-Ray appointment to confirm the stones.

Mark and I went to Gloucester today as planned. The model show was held in a nice community centre with one largish hall and a couple of side rooms. There was a good mix of clubs, a nice range of traders, catering inside and a busy food van outside. It was well attended by the public when we were there from 10:00 until 12:00.

After that we moved on to the Jet Age museum a couple of miles away, my second visit and Mark's first. It is operated entirely by a group of knowledgeable and very friendly volunteers and admission is free (donations welcome). There is plenty of parking, outside seating, a cafe and a small selection of models and books. The museum celebrates in particular Gloster aircraft and has a very tidy Javelin, several Meteors and a replica of Whittle's first jet aircraft and other airframes with a local connection.

The museum is right next door to Gloucester Airport which has several fixed wing and rotary flying schools so there were plenty of circuits and bumps to point cameras at. An excellent day out.

A few of my photos of Jet Age and the airport are here:

Mark's album of the show is here:

Hi all,

As Colin has said, the show is quite a nice one to attend as a guest. I fear that after 1pm the only people left would be other exhibitors, but I would go again purely as a paying punter.

The Jet Age Museum is a really nice place. The staff were knowledgeable without being over bearing. It is small and you can see it all in an hour, but combined with the Gloucester show it makes a nice day.

It was nice to get some photo practice in ahead of RIAT later this year. There were only small light aircraft operating from the airport, but it was nice to have a go at something different.

MArk.
