Mark contacted me over the weekend regarding the show. There are another four IPMS branches attending as well as IPMS UK.

I have a long contract to fill in so I need to know who is attending on what days and if they are staying over night.

A few months ago myself and Ian discussed having one space for Airfix and one for non-airfix. Each space consists of 4,6x2 tables. Will we go for this or stay with the space we had last year?

Get in is from 8am on Saturday. Friday evening is now reserved for exhibitors with stands to construct.

I'll be there both days.
I quite like the idea of having two displays, but I guess it depends on how many others would like to give their non Airfix stuff an outing.

Hi Tom

I can be there both days with an overnight stop on the Saturday, there seem to be several Travelodges within easy reach.

I have a dozen other makes but they wouldn't make much of a dent in 48 square feet.

I guess there does not need to be a strict demarcation between the Airfix and Others. I seem to recall that Tom, Ant and myself managed to fill 48 sq feet pretty well between us last year. I could probably fill one 6*2 table with non Airfix stuff - especially if I took several Tamiya 1/12 cars.

I seem to remember some of the display last year comprised a lot of non - airfix kits some got a lot of interest too :fear: The drones, Pixar kits, UFO and Tiger stripped Jag.

I dare say with the shelving this year we will have enough room with one display space.

48 sq ft is what we had a Sutton Coldfield, if I bring fewer 1/24 kits that should give us a reasonable space.

The idea for having more space evolved for conversations with Mark, the organiser, who is trying to widen the scope/interest of the show, which is currently based round model railway clubs and the local model boat club. He was keen to get more other model activities involved, so we suggested having more table space and displaying other makes as well as Airfix. I guess it depends on what space he has available.

It is easier to expand into more space than to try and cram everything into a smaller one, as we proved at TAS, when we were offered double the table space on the Sunday morning. I think
The other advantage of more space is that it is possible to have a bit of a gap at the front of the table to help defeat 'little fingers' from trying to pick up the models. The footfall at Stockport last year, as at TAS this year, appeared to be much more family oriented than at the normal IPMS club shows, so there is more potential for the odd accident.
One idea I had was that if we have more space it might be a good idea to use the front edge of the tables for examples of the quick-build type kits that can withstand more robust handling.
