Does anyone fancy a trip to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum in London Colney, Herts?
http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk
I've volunteered to build a Mosquito PR32 for the Upottery Group and want to visit the museum to see if they have any information about the PR32 (converted from the PRXVI but only 5 were ever made).
There are three Mosquitos there, a Sea Vixen and many other types. It is close to the M25 and is also on some bus routes. A Saturday or Sunday would be best for me. I understand from our local resident that there are several eating establishments nearby, some of which serve strong ale for those who aren't driving.
If anyone would like to join in please reply in thread and we can sort out a date. Colin

Hi Colin,
I'm up for joining you for a visit. It's only down the road and round the corner for me (M4 and M25 ). It would be fun to go here as it appears on my 2015 Fly Past calender that I use at work, and I could then at least say 'been there' to one of the months featured. I'm good to visit on any Sunday in August apart from the 9th for obvious reasons and the 30th where I'm hoping to go to Bruntingthorpe again.
Mark

Thanks Mark
Options then are Sunday 2nd or Sunday 23rd, I can do both. (Other Sundays are already taken with Avon, Hull and Bruntingthorpe). James-a-j would like to join us, any preference James?

Thanks Mike
That would be most helpful. I did email the museum a couple of weeks back asking if they had any information on a Mosquito PR32, NS586, crashed 12/04/1945 at Westonzoyland but haven't heard back.
Regards Colin

Hi Folks
The museum is open on Sunday next from 10:30 until 17:00. I should be able to get there comfortably for opening time or soon after. Hot and cold drinks and sandwiches are available to purchase onsite. I was there a few years ago and the general atmosphere was very informal and relaxed so taking a packed lunch should be OK and access for photographs (observing the usual courtesies) was great. Admission (including Gift Aid) is £8. All of the museum staff are volunteers and I found them to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable so we should have a great day out.
Colin
