Hi all,
Not long got back from Bruntingthorpe. I got caught on the way back in Silverstone traffic. I had a wonderful day with Colin, despite the rain, which occasionally stopped. I took loads of photo's which I will be going through shortly. Colin took some as well using some new fangled device called 'film'! He's braver than I am! I would thoroughly recommend this event, and maybe next year we could get a group of us to go. Anyway I had better get cracking on those pics.
Mark.

Bruntingthorpe is always an excellent day out although the weather could have been better. Despite the intermittent rain and a number of aircraft being U/S at the last minute the organisers still managed to get a VC10, Canberra, Nimrod, Buccaneer, L29 Delphin (Warsaw pact jet trainer), Hunter T7, three Jet Provosts, Victor and a Lightning all making a lot of noise and setting off all of the car alarms. There were a lot of static aircraft including some new arrivals (Shackleton, Jaguar, Gnat and Tornado GR1) and some very large R/C that put on an impressive display in between the full size aircraft. A Spitfire from the BBMF did a few low passes along the runway to close the event. Not bad for £15 a ticket.
Whilst Mark sorts through the 1,000 pictures he took today and I wait for my film to come back from the chemist here are a few from today.
There was a one minute silence before the Hunter started its engine.

A couple of the JPs

The Victor always attracts a lot of interest

Loudest on the day, as usual

Bruntingthorpe have two runway days each year, next year as usual will be the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday and the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday. Adult admission is usually £15.
The Cold War Jets Collection (excluding the Lightnings) is open every Sunday except around Christmas and New Year, admission price is £5. The organisers put out several appeals for new volunteers to help look after the Cold War Jets Collection, everything from hydraulics experts to painters and cleaners. If you are interested in helping contact 0116 2478030 or email dave.walton@bruntingthorpe.com

Excellent photos as always Mark. Those R/C aircraft were very realistic.
