We all do it, pick up leaflets about attractions when we are somewhere else and carefully file them when we get home, never to be found again. If you come across somewhere of interest which might appeal to fellow AMSIG members, modelling or otherwise, please post a scan in this thread of the front and back of the leaflet. if it is somewhere you have visited and enjoyed please write a few words about your visit.

de Havilland Aircraft Museum, London Colney. A fascinating place staffed entirely by very knowledgeable and helpful volunteers. Main attractions are the three Mosquitoes, two of which are undergoing renovation to bring them up to original, albeit static, condition.

Hi all,

I haven't looked at this site in any detail, but I thought this may be useful in planning future places to visit.

If you ever find yourself in Stratford-upon-Avon with a couple of spare hours to fill I recommend the Mechanical Art and Design Museum, also known as the MAD Museum. it is in the centre of the town conveniently near a large multi-storey car park. It isn't a large place but it is full of automata, some made from wood, some metal, some Meccano, the one below was a dog made from parts salvaged from a car, all powered by electric motors that visitors can operate. Imagine Nick Park meets Heath Robinson and Frank Hornby whilst taking some wacky baccy and adding sound to some of it. Still photos don't do the models justice. Great fun for children of all ages.

Young children especially seem to like it. They spot detail that old fogies like me miss.
