Air shows continue to decline in number and quality but Bruntingthorpe still strives to put several tons of hot metal and fuel down the runway at high speed and set off every car alarm in the process.
Running order yet to be finalised but expect some or all from: Lightning, Hunter, Provost, Victor, Buccaneer, Nimrod and others.
Plenty of statics to look at plus (usually) a fly by from the BBMF and any other traffic passing nearby. Admission has gone up this year, £20 for adults, £15 for older adults but still worth the trip.

It looks like I'm free this day (so far). Perhaps in lieu of any shows in May this could be our AMSIG outing? There are model kit bargains to be had Ant and Tim

Hi all,
I'm up for going to this again. Maybe this time we can put in a request for the sun to attend as well. I'll be staying local the night before, so I will try and get there early, and 'bag' a spot for us.
Mark.

Sister in law has booked a large cottage in Filey at the last minute. We are off there after work tomorrow. The north sea will be a good test of Megans wet suit bought at a service station on the way back from the space centre the other week

Today was very well attended despite the increase in admission price from £15 to £20 and for once the weather was favourable, no rain! As usual not everything planned was serviceable but plenty of aircraft made it down the runway including three Provosts, two Buccaneers, two Hunters, a Canberra, Victor and Delphin. A Lightning was being towed out of the QRA shed as I was leaving and the VC10 was listed to close the day.
There was plenty to see elsewhere on the airfield and several aircraft were open for a small fee. The large RC aircraft again did some impressive displays and sensibly this time they were parked on the far side of the runway some way down so their vehicles weren't obstructing the crowd's view of the main event. Several large RC aircraft were flown including a Vulcan, VC10, Vampire, Super Sabre and A-10. The VC10 was reported as costing £25,000 to build...
A Spitfire and Hurricane from BBMF were expected to fly by on their way home from Duxford to Conningsby but the Hurricane went tech so the Spitfire, a clipped wing Mk16, made four low passes by itself, wonderful to see and hear.
There were several traders selling plastic kits and die casts, I didn't see any real bargains. Vulcan to the Sky and The People's Mosquito were fund raising and the usual catering hut had constant queues, as did the toilets. There were a few other traders selling everything from aviation prints to expensive sweets.
A suggestion to the organisers for next time, invite a couple more caterers and give visitors a better choice of food (and shorter queues), you would sell more overall.
Next event will be August Bank Holiday Sunday.
Colin

Hi Colin, Glad it went well. I am hoping to attend the August event. It is a good day, and well worth the money for the spectacle and the noise. Glad that they have taken heed of many peoples grumblings and put the RC stuff on the other side of the airfield.
Mark.

Sounds like you had a good time Colin. Were they fundraising for Canberra to the Sky at the event?
