Same format as the May Bank Holiday event, and all the better for that.

Checking the calendar I shall have to pass on this one as I am at a wedding in Birmingham that weekend.

Two weeks today

http://www.bruntingthorpeaviation.com/open-days/

I'll be there with Mark (roadhousedisco). £20 on the gate, £15 for seniors. Fast taxi runs by Lightning, Buccaneer, Nimrod, Victor, VC10, Provost and others (subject to serviceability) plus large scale radio controlled aircraft, many static displays and probably a flyby or two.

It is a good day out, even when it rains! And there is always the hope that one of the pilots will forget to throttle back.

Hi all,

Well Colin and I spent today at Bruntingthorpe. As Colin posted earlier, we saw, among others, Nimrod VC-10 Lightning Buccaneer and Jet Provost's. There were also a variety of R/C craft being flown. We were joined by Steve (Corricon) from the ATF, who regaled several stories of working with these planes when they were active and in military service. We were treated to three fly pasts. A Gnat, Hurricane and a Jet Provost all graced the sky while we were there.

Anyway, I took loads of pictures. I have been through them and picked out a few to keep you going while I sort out the rest.

An excellent day out at Bruntingthorpe, nearly all of the aircraft were serviceable and it only rained for a few minutes which must be a first. Thank you to Mark for securing our pitch on the crowd line and to Steve and his daughter for joining us.

It was my first proper outing with my 'new' camera and Mark kindly lent me his one of the same model so I didn't spend the entire day having to change lenses, thanks Mark! I took several hundred photos, most of which ended up on the digital cutting room floor but a few survived the edit.

One thing you shouldn't do at Bruntingthorpe, even in an Iskra

Great photo's Colin. You got a better shot of the Lightning burning up the runway than I did.
