An excellent day out with Mark, lots of vintage kites, some as low as fifty feet including this one.

Some were noisy

Some were graceful

And some were hot!

Hundreds of pictures to sort through.

I wasn't aware of this when I took the photograph. The aircraft was on its takeoff run, shutter speed was 1/1000 second. Is that a condensation trail being generated at the propellor tips?

Wow! That's a good one. It's a feature of props and condensation. I've managed to capture it a few times, mainly on heavies like the Herc. It's a good feeling when you see what you have photographed.

Thanks both, it was the third frame in a sequence of five, first two don't show it, the remaining three do, never seen that effect before at ground level, very pleased to have captured it.

Hi all,
I thought it was about time I got in on the act. Here are a few of mine from Sunday. I'll do a proper write up in a few days. I've still got 700 pictures to go through.

Excellent pictures as ever Mark. We should mention that one of that aerobatic pair appeared to have a problem with his engine part way through their display and did a wheels up crash landing next to the runway. The pilot was injured and taken to hospital and flying was delayed for an hour or so while the emergency services made everything safe. The one that went down was G-JINX.
