Indeed the 1/1 Lightnings often had u/c problems so in that sense the R/C one was an accurate model. According to the commentator from the R/C club the typical cost of one of these is around £10,000 and top speed straight and level was around 150 mph.

Hi all,
Last Sunday, 14th May, Colin Marrow and I took a visit to the Abingdon Air & Country Show. This was my fourth year at this event. Advance tickets were only £12. It's a nice little show comprising of a classic car collection, military vehicles, craft stalls, along with the usual aviation themed stalls and various country type displays in an arena. There is also an air display which mainly consists of propeller driven planes. Unfortunately this years event was marred by some very bad traffic management, with reports of some people queuing for upto 4 hours to get in! Luckily Colin and I were among the first 20 cars to turn up that day, so we did not experience these problems. However, once in the show ground it was on hell of a walk round to the crowd line where we set up for the day. Having said all that, we both concluded that it was an excellent day and we would both be returning next year. There was one incident of a plane having to abort it's display and make a grass landing due to it's engine stopping. Thankfully the pilot was not badly hurt. Anyway, here is a link to my photo's of the day. Thanks for reading/looking
Mark.
