The 7 families - In ancient times 7 clans owned the lands as cultures and technology developed they formed together what they are today. They for all intents and purposes own all the land in their regions hence why there are no other noble families, because of this the 7 noble houses have ultimate power over the people and law in their land. These families have stayed relatively tight over the years and not many people have ever been brought into the fold via marriage or even given titles until the last hundred or so years since the massive population boom due to the relative peace that has swept angorn thanks to the implementation of the High council of Angorn. THe Council itself is made up from representatives of the 7 nobles houses who then dictate and negotiate on behalf of their noble house and countries. Low born nobles - Low born nobles make up the bulk of all nobility and have only been cropping up in the last 100 or so years. Low born nobles gained the title in one of 3 ways marrying into a noble house, earning the title through merit or being born into a lowborn family. While still an exclusive club the nobles get first class access to everything that the noble houses have to offer. A lowborn noble usual fills up positions in military, government, leaders of public trade guilds, lawmen and anything that involves leadership but the lowborn also adhere to any needs the highborn need, some nobles live their entire lives as glorified servants to their highborn leaders. High born nobles - The highborn have the blood of nobles thick in their veins, there are many benefits to the blood outside of societal status including longer life, greater proficiency in all things and some rumour supernatural abilities but that is just baseless speculation form peasants. The high born are born to lead and take up controlling roles in the government and military of the houses, general to mayors of towns to heads of guard and of course the illustrious job of the high lord. Though if a High lord wishes to live the life of luxury most houses allow them to do so as they own in part the entire land and gain access to the almost limitless treasury of their respective houses. The High Lords - The high lords are like clan leaders of the blood line, their job is to lead pure and simple, to be the final say in all matters of in house politics, to be wise leaders and all that comes with that. The high lord upon death chooses one to succeed him which more often than not has been a direct relative either son or daughter though sometimes depending has even been nephew or even someone older than them. Most highlords have stayed out of direct politics with the houses until recently with what seems may be an end to an uneasy peace. The Crown - The crown was created in the formation of the council of nobles and has been around for hundreds of years. It was originally created as who would be the chairmen in meetings and who would over see the meetings at the time the avaricians held that role, over time the avaricians have perverted the role of the chairmen to the status of a king and with that a unintended political race for the crown was created. Either way who ever holds the crown their houses capital becomes the capital and they then are the ones to distribute coin and also have the ability to break ties on any matter in the kingdom of Angorn as a whole. Though some rumour there is more power than that. |
