I have a few questions (if that wasn't already apparent from the title)...

- Powerplaying. For example:

Character A: ... and he set of on the road to Paris.
Character B: She was wandering the streets of Paris, when she noticed her old friend, 'Character A', standing in front of a store.

Is that considered powerplaying?

- When, if ever, is a roleplay considered 'dead'? Is there a cut-off date after which we shouldn't respond to boards? Or is it okay to revive ones that haven't been active for a while?

Thank you!

Powerplaying is controlling the actions of someone else's character. There's a good example in the Introduction to Interactive Fiction section. Basically, you can say anything you like about your character, but you can't write someone else's character for them.

The example you stated is fine - you need to be able to specify minor details like that in order to role play. The other writer isn't going to care what store they're standing in front of - especially if it's relevant to your next post - unless they've already specified that detail. What you're not allowed to do is injure someone else's character, specify their actions, provide details about them that their writer hasn't established, etc. You can tell as much as you like about your character's perspective of someone, however. And when fighting, for example, you can fire an arrow at someone, but you need to allow them to specify if and where it hits them.

One thing you can also do is communicate OOC with the people you are role playing with and make sure it's ok to specify details about their characters. Many of us chat with each other quite a bit between posts ^_^

Edit: Whoops, forgot the second question!

There isn't a time limit on "dead" RPs. If something hasn't been posted in for awhile, though, you might post in the recruiting topic or PM the person who started it to see if it's still active.

Hope that helps!
