as the title says i think my bristlenoses are gay. heres the story. currently in my 150L tank i have 2 female commons 1 male common, 1 male albino 1 female albino. i have at least 4 caves around.... the 2 reptile caves and 2 other normal caves, but what got me was that the albino male and common was sharing a cave... and in addition the common male guards the entrance, as the 2 common females want to come in and he blocks the entrance, but he alows the albino bn to go in and out while he stays in there all day..... the common females have tried going in a few times but come out seconds later... any ideas? i thought male bn were supoose to be territorial. ken. |

He will be more territorial when he is ready to breed, once he realises the pretty yellow one is not what he thinks it is

Just watch the two boys together because when one is ready to breed with the girls he may kill or injure the other male, I unfortunatly had this happen to my sub male, he died from injuries. Before the breeding they got on well together in a almost gay way as you say. |

For breeding that is the way to go, however now and then you need to breed the albino's with the commons to keep the gene strong in the albino's if you keep line breeding the albino's they will slowly get weaker.

You can make something like this in Dylema's Thread or you can syphon the eggs into a seperate conyainer with an airstone bubbling slowly. If they are yellow they should still hatch

Nope, I doubt it's Brokeback Fishtank you've got there... more likely the common has a plasma TV in his cave and the albino's coming over to watch football... and as has been mentioned, once the common BN discovers girls, all their matey evenings drinking Bristlenose beer and watching footy will be in the past... bit like the rest of us, really...
