Have 20 arriving tomorrow, hopefully they still have the special going. I am pretty sure the orange spot females get a few bristles around the edge where as the males get heaps. Will need to look into it again as may be confusing with the peppermints  |

trying to see where the orange spots are in the last 2 pictures? as unlesss the strains mutated then the ones pictured in last 2 pics with white spots are not the orangespots that mate and i have had and bred. These look like a x between a pepp and orangespot as orangespots we had and bred didnt have white spots on them at all i am very confused to what strain those pictures are? or if it's a new strain of orangespot ? i will attatch picture of the orange spots that we had and bred for your comparisons http://s114.photobucket.com/albums/n252/bu...bristlenose.jpg |

There are a few types of orange spots in australia One only shows the orange as juveniles and the spots change to white as they get older, will try and find the different scientific names later today. |

i wasnt sure they had gven orangespots scientific names yet have they? or now they have been around a while they have given these a name. I find all the scientific names just confuse people hahahahaha and it's easier to just stay with the common names but state area which found in. I have had the juvies that look like a common as babies but then get the orange fins and orange spots as they get older i can say until today i have never seen a white spotted orangespot. |

The names they were first sold under was the wrong one (L043) Ansistrus cf leucostictus. (sp?) As they are extremely rare and very doubtfull to be in Australia acording to Planet catfish. Will check with Tandanusman when he comes in as he did some research on the orange spots. |

The spots can vary in color, due to background, water conditions and diet also stress of moving to a new tank will feature as well. The pics Rob posted is the first day in the tank and no substrate. The 3 left from the last order, spots are darker than the new arrivals today, easy way to tell o/s is the nose shape more elongated. |

Damn, if that's an orange spot, I could have had one for $6.95 a couple of weeks back - thought it was just an odd looking common...

Stuart i have seen the odd common with spots, which is possibly due, that it is beleived that the commons in Australia are possibly hybrids. |

i doubt highly stuart it was an orange spot at $6.95 as the orange in orange spot the fins are orange unlike the common and they are priced much more than $6.95 in shops. I wouldnt expect an orngesppot to go for under $30 in a shop at a guess and sometimes they look like commons but it's not till a closer inspection that they show the orange fins. but let me know where and i will go get it at $6.95 if it's orage spot i will get 200 at that price LOL. hahahahaha |

It was mixed in with a batch of commons at one of the less knowledgable places I frequent... it's not in the tank now, but they do have another batch coming in this week... if I see another, I'll grab it... if there's more, I'll get 'em to put some aside for you if you want... |
