It is possible that your tank too clean. Is the father still with the babies? The babies need to eat the fathers waste and there own waste so they can develop the correct bacteria in there stomachs to assist with digestion of the food. Only other thing is to make sure you have some driftwood in the tank because it is part of the necessary diet for b/nose cats.

Sometimes the female has a go at them but most of the time it's ok! Maybe take her out and see if the deaths stop. |

Is this the first or second spawn or either parent? I have no idea why but I have found and have heard others say that the first couple of spawns are weaker and they have trouble keeping them alive. After this they seem to get better. Sorry I can't offer any more ideas right now. Good luck with your exams as well. I have just printed 185 pages of notes (6 slides per page) for one subject which I will attempt to read, note and cross reference to the two text books before the exam which is in less then a month. so I know how you feel right now. Are you in year 12? Remember to take regular breaks, eat well, drink water and sleep. I can't stress how important good nutrition and sleep are for your brain and ability to retain info. Dylan |

Have you also tried feeding them algae wafers. I used to feed my babies blanched spinach (not silverbeet) and Chinese cabbage. I didnt have a bare bottomed tank

It could just be that feeding the fish whilst bare bottomed is scaring them to death - try wearing pants for a couple of nights, and see if that helps...
(Sorry, I couldn't resist...) |

Good luck with the exams. Just remember it is not the be all and end all. I am only 26 and am finishing up one career and about to start in a second next year. I could have done my first career without finishing year 12 (or 11 for that matter) and the other I would have just had to wait a couple of years to go to uni. I am sure you will be fine. Also good luck with your BN. Dylan |
