Ok ive decided its about time i get myself a pleco! I just called up and asked and they said they sell standard plecos for around the 40 mark for about 7cm, is that a fair price and is there anything i should look out for eg colours etc.. also is it possible i could find some without a sunken belly because ive noticed alot with bellies like starving kids! thanks nada. |

With pleco's its the eyes if they have started to sink there is no comming back for them. Most fish from wholesalers will usually come in with sunken bellies, by the the time they are housed at the exporters, shipped and then quarentined and then sent off to the shops most are usually under fed in that time. Its when they have been in store for more than 2 weeks and still show those symptoms that there may be reason for concern, IE: Possible worms Malawi Bloat No feeding at all etc etc |

If you haven't gone into Aggies yet I would recommend it and make sure Mark is there when you do he will be able to help convice you that they are a great tankmate for most fish. They currently have a large gibbiceps ( sailfin) in with the saratoga at the moment to give you an idea about the size the common one gets to. You may want ot concider one of the smaller varieties depending on your tank size. You will need drift wood and algae wafers as they are both important to the fishes diet.
