Hello, If you're reading this, you were probably active on the Rules Theory board on the Alliance National Board. As you're likely aware, this included a Rules Theory and Rules Discussion section where some of us were quite vocal in how we perceived the game and how we thought the game should develop. Some of us were very vocal, and some took offense to that vocal nature. With that the owners decided that the discussion of Rules Theory should not take place on the National Forums. For the most part. I agree with them. People got personal and it made it a daunting proposal for new players to join in the conversation. There was however a LOT of good work being done in those Rules Theory discussions and many good rules proposals started there. So I've created this board as a creative outlet for those people who have a passion for rules tinkering and discussion. With that said, I am posting a Code of Conduct for the board. Those who violate the Code of Conduct will be notified, soft banned, or hard banned based on severity of code infraction, frequency of code infraction and content contribution to this forum. If you post regularly with good, well thought out, reasoned arguments, and then have one day and call us all pederasts and cheesemongers, you'll get a ban, but it will be a soft, or timed, ban instead of a hard, or perma-ban. If the cheesemonger post is your first, well, you're more likely to get permabanned. This is subjective, and ultimately my call. If _I_ am being the jerk, I like to think I'd listen when told, but once we get started I'll get a few more moderators to slap me with a fish should I get out of line. So, what's this Code of Conduct? 1st: Don't do ANYTHING against ZetaBoards policy. That covers the usual list of things good sense should already have you know. 2nd: Anyone posting here does not represent anyone else in any official capacity. If Alison came here and posted something, when she's here, she's not the Alliance Chair, she's Ali. If Mike V. comes here, he's Mike, not the game creator. When I post, it's not as Alliance Seattle Plot member, it's as Ben. Now with all that said, respect the experience of people have had in those positions. If Mike says he designed the game to always have nobility... well, he designed the game that way. If Ali says that the charter doesn't allow something, then she probably knows what she's talking about. 3rd: This board operates under the positive version of Wheaton's law. It's not enough to not be a jerk. Instead, post as if to help every other poster, and read every post as if they're trying to help us all. It's okay to disagree, it's okay to argue. At no point will attacking another player be tolerated. Argue for and against the ideas, not the people. 4th: If someone proposes something that would negatively impact your game experience, it's fine to explain why that would do so, and it's even fine to say that it would specifically impact you. The more people your rebuttal would include the better. If implementing something would help 99 players but hurt your character... understand that it probably is still a good idea. Every design choice has consequences, and will impact someone negatively. The goal is to work to make the game as good as possible under the themes and general design of the system as it stands today. 5th: Seriously, we're all friends here. We all want the game to be better, we just don't always agree on what would do that. Operate under the tone of Bill & Ted and "Be excellent to one another!" |
