A couple quick questions!

Hello, I'm new. I read through the Manual and it answered a lot of my questions, except for three. I've opted to ask them instead of making an introduction topic first. I can't think of anything interesting about myself at the moment anyhow!
[size0]...Maybe later. Possibly.

  1. Is there or will there be an overarching plot/storyline for the entire board? Is it/will it be optional, or is everyone expected to work with it?

  2. Are there any age restrictions for characters? For example, are soldiers or characters who are Wielders expected to be a certain age?

  3. What are the rules regarding character death? Is anyone free to kill whoever they want as long as it's feasible for them to do so and an opportunity to do so arises?

Hey Aeryn! Let me start off by saying welcome to the site! I'll go ahead and answer in the order you asked them...

1. As of right now there is no major storyline. All that you really need to know is in the history topic. There might be a major storyline in place in the future, but as of right now there isn't since we're just starting up. If one is put into place, it would be optional for people to play in it or not.

2. There are no age restrictions on any of the classes. A wielder can be any age at all, as long as their character's skill and such match up with their age (obviously a 5 year old wielder won't be able to do nearly as powerful spells as a 20 year old one but that's pretty basic).

3. As for death, you can have your own character die however you choose (if you ever want them to that is). Regarding killing other characters, if you are in a fight with another user, they would have to agree that they wanted their character to die. You can't just make a post saying "Bob ran up to Greg and stabbed him." You would need to leave open the option for them to respond by saying something like "Bob ran toward Greg, pulled his blade back and swung forward." This leaves Greg the option to block, dodge, run away, let themselves be hit, etc. It's all about communication with the other player. No one is ever expected to die, it's your choice.

I hope that clears things up! If you're still confused just let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!

I'll make sure to leave some ends open so I can hop onto the bigger plot later, if I can. Five-year-olds with magic sounds like a nightmare even if their power is a bit tame. I come from a very large family and my step-siblings' children are difficult enough to manage without them setting things on fire by accident.

Thank goodness for the cooperation bit there, I don't want to have my character killed off arbitrarily. It's always very upsetting to lose something you spend a good deal of effort on rather quickly.

Anyhow, thanks again. I'd better get started on mine. See you around!

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it! I can tell I'm going to get along with you two fine, you've both got great taste in video games.

EDIT: To avoid double-posting, I'm just going to ask another question or two here really quick.

  1. Does Anglon have any deities or religions? I don't see any reference to any, but I'm curious.
  2. What's the currency like?

Thank you for not double posting haha!

And great questions. Religion in Anglon doesn't play a major role in people's lives. They believe there are a few gods watching over them, but the people don't solely rely on their gods for everything. There aren't any specific gods as of right now, but actually if you want to kind of think up some it could work out.

Currency-wise, it's all a coin-based system. They have gold, silver, and bronze coins all of which hold different values. Bronze act like pennies in that 100 bronze coins equal 1 silver. Silver is somewhat similar to a dollar in that 100 silver coins equal 1 gold. Most basic goods cost a large number of bronze coins or a small number of silver plus a small number of bronze. But something like a nice cottage might cost up to 100 gold coins.

Currency really shouldn't be a big problem, just sort of make reasonable prices for things and you'll be fine!

Okay., thanks! I wouldn't be posting again if I didn't think I needed to, but.. more questions!

  1. What are the races in Anglon like? I'm assuming predominately human, since there isn't a "race" field in the character profile section, but are we ever likely to encounter other generic fantasy humanoids- elves/dwarves/gnomes or whatever?
  2. I see a lot of references to "beasts" throughout the board. They seem to be the primal antagonistic force of the world, but what are they exactly? I don't want to spoil any plot twists or whatever so feel free to gloss this one over if you were planning on using information about them for a surprise or something, I'm only curious.
  3. Not really related: what's this skin called? Or did you make it yourselves?

1. For a while I thought of having those other races around and they may be eventually, but as of right now it is only humans as the only humanoid peoples in the world. This may change in the future and users may be allowed to play as other races, but we'll have to see where it goes with just humans first.

2. Beasts are just a generic term that is used here. They could be anything really, a boar, a rabbit, or a monster inside a deep cavern that lurks in the dark. It's mostly left up to the player to decide what creatures they encounter. The only real limit is that for the most part it is just regular animals like bobcats, buffalo, things like that, but if your character finds themselves in a more exotic or magical place (whatever that means to you) they will likely encounter stranger and more dangerous monsters. Basically if you're in a swamp place, you'll find more real-life and made up swamp creatures. Bandits are also always a good go to source if you're looking for a fight. They're pretty much just outlaws who don't mean much and can be brought into the story anywhere really.

3. I didn't make the skin and unfortunately I don't remember who did or what it is called. I searched for skins in Google and and this seemed appealing so I went with it.

Speaking of skins, I see we have something new. Is Anglon Realms making a comeback? :3
