Your time has RUN OUT

As Nanashi rested, he could feel an overwhelming feeling of dread overcome him, a premonition of something yet to come though he knew it was more than a simple feeling. The ronin stirred in his sleep, his grip clenched around the handle of his blade as more and more, he began to grow uneasy and restless as he tossed and turned from side to side. "You believe you are a demon? You do not know what strength is!" A low growl whispered as Nanashi sat up, the voice he had heard causing him to instantly get up, he knew that he was not alone. "Fool. You call yourself the Red Demon. You do not know the meaning of the word!" A massive gust of wind caused the few glowing red charcoals of fire to burn out instantly, leaving the ronin alone in the darkness as he stood in position, a Kenjutsu stance. "You are the last practitioner of the Shi-Cho. There can only be one master. Our fates are intertwined." As the voice spoke, two eyes appeared from the darkness, the mouth of the cave held the being that spoke to him. As Nanashi spoke, he saw a shadowed figure cloaked in what seemed to be a purple flame that surrounded its form, the ex-samurai was on edge, he knew what he was speaking to was no person, no human. "You know of Shi-Cho? Who are you?" Nanashi asked as he looked to the figure of shadow, it's eyes crackling and burning wildly as Nanashi stared forward into the abyss before him. As Nanashi drew his blade out, the hum it had made before was replaced with sounded like the toll of bells in the distance, powerful rings causing Nanashi to grow even more uneasy. Kanyou sensed something dark, something evil and because of that and this reaction from his blade, Nanashi knew he was looking at a force of power. The shadowed hand of the flame wreathed creature extended outward and pointed to Nanashi, though they were a few feet away, Nanashi felt like he was only inches from confronting the being before him. "I alone have mastered the art of Shi-Cho. That....is my sword." A low growl escaped from the shadowed being as it's dark finger pointed to Kanyou, Nanashi had no intention of giving his blade up and without a moment of hesitation, he placed it before himself, taking the advancing stance of Shi-Cho. "Wrong. Kanyou has been my companion for many years. I found the blade cast among the ruins of a village, it is my companion." An eerie laughter escaped from the shadowed figure as it lowered its hand, as it opened its mouth, Nanashi swore he could see naught but flames and hell fire erupting within the figure. "Your companion? That sword will be your downfall. I will happily take it from your corpse." Nanashi grit his teeth and without any warning, the ronin advanced forward, raising his blade up and with great speed, the swordsman attacked. He slashed downward as he advanced towards the figure, though he was attacking, it did not move. As his blade came down, Nanashi's attack was suddenly halted, the ronin looked confused but as he looked up, he saw that the aura of flame had stopped Kanyou, the first thing to stop his blade from advancing ever. Nanashi tried to push it forward but it had no effect, Kanyou was stopped and the creature before him locked eyes with the swordsman. "This is the last practitioner of Shi-Cho? Such weakness..." With that, Nanashi's blade was suddenly pushed back, sending the swordsman stumbling backwards, as if he had just been tackled but the thing before him had not moved, his sheer aura did the actions itself. Nanashi couldn't believe what had happened but without a second thought, he readied himself and charged forward again, going for a horizontal slash, he had never met a problem that he could not face and defeat with his blade. Kanyou's blue blade tore through the air until it became a blur of blue but even with his power and speed, the creature extended its finger, blocking the strike. "Is this all you have boy? YOU ARE A FAILURE! BEGONE!" With the roar of anger, a typhoon swept up the area, stripping the mountains of the rock that held its walls and causing Nanashi's hair and clothes to flutter wildly. Nanashi was sent back, stumbling to the ground as he was nearly overwhelmed by the blast of air, though thanks to Kanyou, he was able to gain his footing and even started to move forward against the typhoon itself. The creature did not move an inch, even as a typhoon roared behind him, there was no flutter of clothing or hair, even his aura seemed unaffected by the force of nature. As Nanashi advanced, it caught the figures attention, seeing his strength beginning to come out and flourish in its entirety. "Interesting..." With a single wave of the hand, the typhoon died down and Nanashi fell forward, stabbing his blade into the ground and using it to break his fall. "You have...some strength. Though compared to me....you are but a child." Nanashi had never been talked down to like this, he had always reigned supreme with his blade, yet before him stood a figure that blocked his strikes with ease, without so much as moving a finger. "You are not yet ready. Prepare yourself "Red Demon" for when we clash, I will erase you." The shadowed figure turned its back to the swordsman, Nanashi raised his blade up once more and charged with as much force as he could, the ground underneath him cracking with the force and power of his footsteps. As Nanashi swung his blade, it was met with the creatures own, the sound of steel crashing against steel echoing loudly and even causing a massive sonic boom that broke the sound barrier, the surrounding trees and forestry being blown back from the force. Nanashi was angry, he struck with all of his hatred and even then, it seemed useless, his strike had no effect on the shadowed monster before him, it only managed to make the creature show its twisted smile as it turned back to look at him. "Who the hell are you!?" Nanashi yelled as he struggled to combat against the creatures strength, it's shadowed and withered blade pressing his own back as he tried to use the force of his entire body to give him an advantage. That is when he saw it, the sight of Kanyou, its withered and twisted form in the hands of the corrupted monster before him. "K-Kanyou...?" Nanashi asked as he saw the marking of the sword were exactly the same, apart from the blade the monster was holding was covered in cracks and was darkened, it's blade was black and dark silver. The guard had many brutal looking spikes covering the pommel as well. "Wrong. This is Kamisatsujin. This is the twin blade of your pathetic excuse of a sword!" The creature pushed forward, sending Nanashi flying back into a nearby boulder, the pieces of stone shattering on impact and crumbling inward as the ronin had lost his blade. Nanashi groaned in pain as he sat up and saw that Kanyou was on the floor by the monsters foot, he knew then and there that Kanyou was to be stolen. Though something very different happened, the creature before him kicked the sword away, back at Nanashi whom looked up in confusion. "Now is not the time to take what already belongs to me. Train...become stronger...when the time is right...." The shadowed figure turned its back and began to walk away, its form slowly disappearing, though not before leaving Nanashi with a premonition of what was to transpire soon. "I WILL return. I am shadow, I am annihilation. I am the oni; Hachi." The voice echoed in Nanashi's mind until finally, the swordsman had lost consciousness, his campsite reduced to nothing but rubble from the force of the demon's power. Night had passed and with its passing, the sun broke free from behind the shadows of the mountain, it's warm beams of sunshine casting down on Nanashi's cheek as he began to stir from the heat. His eyes parted slowly, his vision was a little faded but Nanashi for the most part was alright, the demon he had met that night had no interest in battling him and because of that it had let him live. The swordsman sat up, rubbing his head as he tried to regain his constitution, what had happened last night was no dream, the destruction of the mountain and his camp site was present, rubble littering the landscape. The tired ronin rose onto his feet where he saw Kanyou was laid upon the ground, kicked back over to him, a sign of pity from the demon, or was it disappointment. The tired warrior kneel down and picked his blade up, sheathing it once more, this time however, their opponent was no ordinary man. It was an ancient demon, one that held a title and carried itself above the rest of the Oni of legend. "...Hachi." Nanashi spoke softly as to bury the name into his memory, this was something that would come to haunt him again but until then, he heeded its advice, he would train and become more powerful than he thought possible. He'd need that strength to slay a demon. Word Count: 1580 Edited by Nanashi, Jul 10 2015, 03:21 PM.
