Your time has RUN OUT
[ * ]
"You are not yet ready. Train...when you are strong, I will seek you out." Nanashi sat up, drenched in a cold sweat as he gasped in panic, drawing his blade out instantly. Kanyou's familiar humming and blue light illuminated the cave that Nanashi had taken refuge in for the night, all that was left in his campsite were the burning embers of his fire that had died down and his sword. The ronin was breathing heavily as he held his sword out, though there was nothing in the cave but him and the silence that night had brought with it. "D-damn it...ever since then, I haven't been able to get a good nights rest in ages." The exhausted swordsman looked to the mouth of the cave where he could see the sky was still dark, no signs of color would be filling them up for quite some time.

"It's still dark..." Nanashi let out a sigh as he sat up, grabbing his sheath with his free hand and placing it across his lap. The low glowing light of Kanyou dimmed as he relaxed, the ronin let a smile tug at the corner of his lips as he looked down to his most treasured of possessions. Kanyou was more of a friend than a thing to him, she was his ally in battle, a guardian where he could sleep and of course, the only one whom went with him wherever he chose to go. Kanyou was his best friend, he had drawn the blade out without even being awake, this just served to show how much trust Nanashi had in his sword. She had never once failed to aid him when he needed it and he knew that when worse came to worse, he would always be able to rely on her. The swordsman sheathed Kanyou carefully, he doubted that his feelings of restlessness were doing any good for his blade since she fed off of his emotion, even the spirit within needed to rest.

"Sorry Kanyou, it was nothing. Just a dream." Nanashi spoke as he placed the sheathed blade beside him. The weary traveler laid back, both hands behind his head as he watched the faint shadows created by the still burning embers dance upon the naturally carved ceiling of the cave. He suspected he would not be falling asleep again anytime soon, what had affected him so greatly that he could not rest easy? Nanashi was not one to hold onto something like this, he was taught to ignore emotion, that selflessness was his ally, that feelings would only weigh him down, yet, what he felt now, it was foreign to him. A heavy feeling on his shoulders, it was as if he were wearing his armor but not only that, the weight, he could feel it in his chest, his heart was heavy with something he could not explain. "What the hell is wrong with me!? Stop it..." Nanashi placed his right hand to cover his face as he collected his thoughts and argued, was he becoming mad? A sickness of the mind, was that what was coming over him? But how, the grief he had experienced before eh brushed off, why was something happening to him now?

"You are not yet ready!" The voice rang out in Nanashi's ears as he doubled over, moving onto his right side as his head felt like it were being split in two, Nanashi grit his teeth, his eyes widening, his pupils shrinking in size. He felt like he was being stabbed through the top of his cranium slowly, the burrowing blade of a sadistic torturer going through him as slowly as possible. Even with all of his resistance training, the pain was enough to get a response from him, Nanashi clenched his fists tightly, his body curling up as little by little the pain increased, as if to test his limits, how much he could handle without stopping. "What is this!? Stop it!! STOP IT!!" Nanashi yelled out in pain as it exceeded his tolerance, the ronin felt every nerve in his body tear from the stress that was put on as he clenched from pain, his vision darkened and with the darkness, everything ceased. A distant sound caught the swordsman's ears and in that moment, Nanashi's eyes parted, he could see light, the blue of the skies and the green tree tops of the oaks, it was morning. Nanashi blinked confused as suddenly, he brought his hand up quickly, feeling the place he felt the burning sensation before, yet to his surprise, there was nothing there.

"What happened...? The pain felt so real...it was...what is wrong with me...?" Nanashi moved to his feet and grabbed Kanyou, his blade had not been moved, there was no sign of someone or something coming into the cave while he slept. What had transpired the night before, he had no idea, yet it was a surreal feeling of the greatest form of pain he had ever experienced, it was not something any man could take, not even with all of his training was he able to embrace the intensity. Nanashi tied his blade to his hip and rose to his feet, the ronin had slept in seemed, he was tired but this was because he had just awoken, he needed answers, this demon; Hachi, had haunted his dreams enough, this was something that Nanashi had to figure out and deal with now. The swordsman packed his belongings and carried them on his back, the makeshift bed had been rolled up and placed atop his pack as he made his way down the path, however this time, he was not headed deeper into the forests. The pursuit of knowledge called for Nanashi to explore texts, scrolls, anything he could get his hands on and if he could not find them, maybe he could find someone with greater knowledge of Hachi.

He knew this was a desperate plan but what choice did he have, Nanashi had no desire to die from lack of sleep or being tortured every night to the point where his body just gave out. The only way he could get answers was to seek them out, nothing was going to get in his way.

Hours had passed when Nanashi heard the familiar sound of cars and what's more, the sound of people chattering with one another, no doubt he was near on of the major cities, perhaps he could begin his search for knowledge there. Nanashi pushed aside one of the branches that obscured his vision of the buildings ahead, luckily it seemed by pushing past them he found himself on one of the main roads, from here, he would simply walk into the city and look around for answers. As the swordsman crossed the road carefully, he took a short walk and found himself at the center of what appeared to be the entertainment section, there were a great deal of people walking about, some taking notice of the ronin, though others assumed he was simply a cosplayer for one of the new action movies that had been released. It seemed luck was on his side, at least he would not be harassed by people on why he was carrying a sword or why his garments were so old and "out of date."

"I suppose I should ask someone for information first. It could be beneficial to my search." Nanashi looked about until he saw a man whom seemed to be giving out sheets of paper, he seemed like he might have heard a thing or two around town and maybe where to go when you needed information on something. "You there. Tell me, where can I find collections of literature? Perhaps information regarding something of great age? I require knowledge." The man handing out papers looked at Nanashi and laughed softly, he gave the ronin a pat on the shoulder and nodded, throwing up a weird sign with his hands. "Woah nice outfit man! You totally had me going there! That sword makes you look so metal!" Nanashi sighed, bringing his hand up for an effective facepalm as he thought how better to communicate his thoughts, the people here spoke a lot more...complicated then where he was from. "Listen. Where can I go to learn things about history? Or somewhere where I can find a lot of books? I'll give you some money for information."

Of course Nanashi knew money spoke louder than words, the man seemed to change his attitude and nodded, offering what he knew."Alright dude. Well, lemme see..." The young man placed his hand on his chin and rubbed it lightly as he thought to himself. Nanashi raised an eyebrow as the two stood in silence for well over a minute, Nanashi was about to leave when suddenly the mans eyes sparked up and he smiled brightly. "Oh yeah! There's like a library here or something! It's down to the left there, it has lots of books and information." Nanashi breathed a sigh of relief, at least that was a start, a place filled with text would be a good way to get some answers however, there was a major problem that he had to overcome, his lack of reading skills. "Okay, well that's a start. Anywhere else I might be able to get information from an age long past?" The man took another few seconds and nodded as he pointed down to the right street. "Yeah! Down there is the city museum! They've got all this really cool old stuff. Like...REALLY old! Dinosaurs and stuff." Nanashi looked down the street to the right, the museum was grand in design, marble pillars for a large building. "Thank you. As promised, here's some money." Nanashi reached into his pouch and gave the man a handful of silver coins, the man blinked in surprise but simply nodded as Nanashi walked past him.
