So, I decided I'd sit down and type up my thoughts on the site, things I liked, things I didn't like, and things that absolutely pissed me off. If I ever making any mistakes in my analysis of the site, such as how things work, by all means, please correct me. I'm also going to split this up into segments, so, away we go... Also, I'll list my suggestions at the bottom of the post. Part One -- The Battle System -- Fuck. ...I suppose I should be more detailed. Very well. However, for all it's worth, you may just want to skip over this segment entirely. I have never, ever been a fan of statistic-based RP, and I more than probably never will. You could sit down and make the single best battle system in the entire world, and I probably still wouldn't like it. Stat-Based RP just feels way too constricting to the openness that the alternative has. It just seems to cut out the human factor of a battle in favor of numbers. For example, in a stat-based battle like this, you could say that being shot in the leg made it impossible to move, but you don't have to. You're under no obligation, and, by doing so, you're only hurting yourself. Before I speak of the actual system, however, I feel I should bring this to your attention: I have not actually battled using the system. As such, to the end, my thoughts as basically hypothetical. If there are inconsistencies, sorry. Anywho, for the actual system, I'm going to blunt: I don't like it. I have this problem with most Battle Systems, not just your's: The limited number of blocks, dodges, and actions. I'm primarily looking at the limits on dodging and blocks: There are several scenarios where being able to just dodge everything doesn't make any sense. I actually went and asked about this one, and concluded that context doesn't have any bearing on the dodging. That is flawed. Take, for example, if you had an attack closing in from all around you. There's no viable way you could just up and dodge that. Furthermore, the fact that you distinguished either technique dodging and normal dodging is confusing to me. Why are the two distinguished? Why would I got out of my way to use a technique dodge and sacrifice more of my actions, when I could use a normal dodge, and sacrifice less action as a result, for the same effect? It's redundant as hell. -- Stats -- ...I hate stats. Let's just get that out of the way. Especially when they are used for a system, such as the one above us. Anywho, your current way of setting up stats doesn't make sense to me. You start off each character with a set of stats that they are completely and totally unable to modify from the start, which I don't understand the reasoning behind. Not everyone is created equal in all aspects. There's no reason that Cirno the Fairy should be able to stand up the Incredible Hulk when they're both starting characters; Cirno just simply isn't as physically powerful as Hulk, so far as I know. Furthermore, the Intellect stat. I question the decision to leave this one static as well, at zero until increased. Not all characters are equally intelligent. I can't fathom a reason that a guy who's lived in the woods his entire life would be as intelligent as someone playing as one of the smartest people in the world, much less more intelligent. -- Summary -- I suppose my biggest issues with both stats and the battle system is that they don't take context into account at all. -- End of Part One -- Edited by Izuru Kamukura, Aug 9 2015, 04:48 PM.

Your complaints, are outdated. The systems are being revamped, and they technically don't exist any more. As for stats, I'm trying not to let everyone go crazy and be overpowered. Done. The intelligence thing is so you can build up your intelligence to access different things that were going to be added into the next patch but not everyone likes the way I do things. |

Very well. I shall reserve my thoughts on the matter until your systems are revamped. |
