Well, I heard some very sad news yesterday. The building church that I left is going through some major changes, and not for the better from what I hear. The new "pastor" they have is apparently one of those very power-mad and abusive leaders, a far cry from the very humble, and soft-spoken man that founded that building church. Families that have been there since the beginning, elders, are leaving. I was shocked when I found out who some of them were. Completely shocked. What is sad, is that many of them are left not knowing where to go. There is so much turmoil. Homewardbound actually ran into one of the families yesterday, and was told what had happened. The things this "pastor" has said to the congregation and to individuals aren't fit to type. She asked them if they had thought about having a home fellowship. They gave her their number and said "call us!" I am sad about the hurt these people are suffering, but encouraged, because God can take a painful and terrible situation and bring good of it! Please keep all of them in your prayers, and please pray that we are able to reach them and begin having fellowship with one another. |

No idea. The former pastor was a very important person within the UPCI, he started this church in the 40's or 50's.....so I'm not sure what is going on...Lots of politics going on here it seems. No one seems to know why this particular new person was brought in, or why he seems to have so much power. Why he felt the need to take the building fund (which had been worked for and saved by the church members for YEARS) and blow it all on nonsense things, like new paint for the sanctuary, or a fancy new personal office, and private bathroom with marble counters.... Or why he seems to think that he can tell the congregation that they were all a bunch of "Jimmy Swaggarts" before HE got there. It goes on and on, but I don't want to go into all of it. It is bad. And he does all this right in front of the elder pastor...who is now not even allowed on the platform of his own church. :hairraise: It is just sheer insanity in my opinion.....the fact that it is an IC aside, it is still very, very wrong! This new pastor is showing his fruit, and they are VERY, VERY ROTTEN! |

The members should seek a legal or civil lawsuit and see possible 501c3 violations. I would without question make this KNOWN to him that this course of action will be pursued. Make this dude start sweating big time. And sweat he will, rest assured when he hears lawsuit. Is there a church board? |

There always was, I don't know if there still is anymore. When he came to this church from his old one, he brought a lot of people with him. For all I know, that might be his new board. But that is only speculation, as I really don't know since I don't go there anymore. What I hear comes from people that we run into who have been hurt by everything. So it is second hand information. But when families that have been there for 30-40 years are leaving, it speaks volumes. |

I've been thinking about this issue every since I read it. Honestly, I'm glad to see it happening. Adversity we know tends to be use by God for change and spiritual awakening. |
