Please pray for my youngest, Jack. He has been sick since Saturday. We thought it was from the heat, but it has been 4 days now, and he has a sore throat, fever of 103, and now periodic severe headaches. He gets up in the morning feeling fine, but by around 1 pm he just crashes, and the fever spikes. I broke down and got him a Dr apt. I just hope it isn't anything serious. My children so rarely get sick. Now I am developing a sore throat too. And what he is so upset about, is that Thursday is the first day of football for their homeschool football league season. He is just crushed. |

He is feeling better this morning as usual. I am hoping he doesn't crash this afternoon like he has been. The Dr went ahead and did a throat culture, and did the usual bottles of motrin, tylenol and even tylenol 3  I am NOT giving that to Jack though. What had worried me was the severe headaches he was getting, but the Doc was pretty sure that is from not drinking enough fluids, coupled with the fever. He did all sorts of neurological tests, and everything looked good. We are continuing with the echinecea and garlic and vitamin C, and lots of fluids, orange juice, etc. |

Great to know he's feeling better. Mal wanted me to tell you she read your entire post with help on only a few words :) She said "Momma, tell her that I read it (as she was pretending to type with her fingers)!!!" She was so proud of herself! |

Oh wonderful!!!! Good Job Malorie!!!!! Well, I spoke too soon. I also think we are dealing with a case of Mononucleosis. I talked to the nurse helpline, and she agreed that she thinks that is what it is. So I have dug into my health books, and so far it looks like Vitamin C and St. Johns Wort are the best things that may help him besides fluids and rest. Do you know of any other things that may be of benefit? Garlic? |

Oh yeah....garlic. I wouldn't turn anyone down from taking garlic! It's the one thing I would choose to take with me to a stranded island. Garlic is MMMM, MMMM GOOD! I don't sugar coat it....I make my kids take it raw (chopped up into little pieces too)!! :D (mean mama!!! LOL!) We'll continue to pray for JR! He has to get well in time for hunting season!! :hunter: :archery: |

Hubby ended up asking me to take Jack to the Dr to get the test and make sure it was mono. We are still waiting on the results, should hear something tomorrow. In the meantime, today was the first day he didn't need anything for pain/fever! It was the first day in almost two weeks that he got through a whole day of school and didn't "crash" at all! Praise God he is better. He is still a little pale, but he is back to himself. |
