My father suffered a heart attack today. He had been having some pain (of course he never told anyone about it) since Friday. He finally couldn't take it anymore today and recognized it as a heart attack (he was a paramedic for 13 years), called the ambulance and hopped in when they got there. The pain went from his arm/shoulder to his chest in the ambulance. He had 100% blockage and went immediately into surgery when he got to the hospital. He had a stent(stint sp?) put in and is in ICU. I'll be headed up there at some point this week, most likely in a day or so. I'm most upset because he is alone right now. My stepmom is out of the country on deployment and my other sister who lives up there had an emergency with her 3 yo at the same time and was in the ER also! Her little girl fell and had to get part of her forehead glued back together. All is well with her little war wound. My brother and I live near one another but there were snow showers and slippery roads tonight. He is leaving in the morning. I have to prepare my home before I head in that direction, so I'll be doing that first. My other sister is in NV. I have been imagining Jesus there with him since I can't be and with all that is in me, trusting that He is truly there, ministering to him during such a tender time. My Dad has been under a lot of stress taking care of his mom, who has alzheimers and he's been smoking for 30 years, atleast. We are really close, despite our spiritual differences. I must say, we grew apart once I turned my life over to Jesus, but it wasn't because of my spirituality, it was because of religion. Once we left the I.C. and I started sharing with him our journey, he became a great help and pointed us in directions to research, especially when it came to church history. He does have a relationship with God but he is not born again. I am praying the Lord will minister to the depths of his soul and comfort him at the same time. It's the only peace I have about this situation right now....that, and the fact he's alive. I cherish your prayers at this time. |

Thank you, so kindly. I talked with him this morning. He doesn't want us up there. He's kind of grouchy considering the circumstances and he has a long, uphill battle when he gets home. The first thing he said to me is that he just wants to be home. I don't take offense because I know his biggest battle with all of this is with himself. I told him I just wanted to do what he needed even though my heart wants to be there with him. He just said he didn't want a crowd and people following him around telling him what to do. I can understand that, so I have to give him space. |
