Hello everyone! I am asking your prayer in a rotten situation I find myself in.

The short version, is that we have a horrible landlord, and I sent her an e-mail yesterday letting her know that we needed the A/C fixed. It was only 84 degrees yesterday, but my hallway was 89 degrees in the house! And that is one of the cooler rooms of course, because it is dark.

She e-mailed me back today, saying that it was a waste of her money having repairmen our last year, when we ended up deciding to use window units instead. (Because the unit wasn't working properly, costing us a fortune and not cooling the house)..and SHE WILL NOT FIX IT!

I am going to the legal office tomorrow and seeing what to do next.

We don't have the money to move, and don't know what to do.

Please pray, because of course this happens while Jeff is gone.

I just got rid of almost all my chickens, the goat is going tomorrow, and maybe the rabbits.

Most certainly will be praying.......we have found ourselves into a similar situation...only different (if that makes any sense whatsoever!)

Hang in there. God has a plan, an answer and a way of taking care of us all!!!

Sending a few hugs your way...

Well, here is the situation.

She has still not responded to me, and I contacted the Housing office today. An inspector came out and got the ball rolling for me. He is a VERY nice and helpful person, and just "happened to be" right down the road inspecting another house when I called. He confirmed that it is not working, and is contacting her himself to notify her. He is giving me an "official" notification on letterhead, and if she doesn't fix it, at 30 days she is being formally listed as an unfit landlord (I forget the legal terms) and "blacklisted." Which means she can have no further business with the military, and I am not obligated to continue with the lease. He also told me that if that happens, that she will also be liable to pay for all of my moving expenses, back rent for when we had to live here without a/c, and all sorts of things as well. He is putting me in touch with a specific legal person with experience with this, and said that I could potentially move out in 10 -15 days!

I ran into a neighbor this morning, that I had never met before, and she told me that every neighbor on our road hated her, that they all had problems with her, and that she herself had had to sue her! And she said that my landlord just got fired from her job at WalMart for stealing. (This was all information she volunteered, as we were at the post office, and she overheard me explaining how I needed to prove that my landlord had received the letter.)

Good gravy!

In a few minutes, I have a lady coming to interview me for a friend's security clearance, and then I have to call a finance company and see if we can get a loan. I hate debt, but I have no other way that I know of at the moment. We have worked with this company in the past, and we have excellent credit with them (and in general) so I hope that won't be a problem.

Okay, I have to get ready for that lady.

Then I will pray again.

Then I'll make more phone calls.

And pray some more.

Sis, so sorry to hear about your situation... I PMd you on my site and have left a couple messages on your blog and my forum.. I own a home which is empty right now and way out in the country.. If you are interested let me know.. it will be a bit of a move for you, but considering your hubby is in Afghanistan it may be well worth it, if not just for the peace of mind. It is a huge house on 13.5 acres.. has everything you need and is agricultural zoned so you can have animals etc.. with nobody in your business. God Bless
