Rob is Tina's (Apostolic Kitty's) husband. Here's what Tina posted on FB-
"Heart cath on Rob Mon. He had fluid around his lungs and his enlarged heart has a leaky valve. Cardiologist said if he doesn't get issue fixed one day he will not make it to the hospital. Not sure when he's going to be released."

Please pray for these two dear old friends that are new to this forum but long time Apostolics.

In Jesus Name!

Thanks, Tom!

I asked the nurse last night what his diagnosis was... and if it was Heart Valve Disease. She said that his chart read "afib" and "CHF". Afib is Atrial Fibrillation and CHF is Congestive Heart Failure.

Scary stuff, but ain't nothin' God can't handle. He's still in control.

Forgot to add that CHF can be caused by Heart Valve Disease, so it may still be an accurate diagnosis considering he does have that leaky valve.

Thank you!

All his procedures yesterday morning went well. He has no clots or blockages. The cardiologist is referring him to a doctor in Evansville who will be able to perform surgery to fix the leaky heart valve. They are releasing him today.

The staff at the hospital has been really good to him... Nurses really rock... I so admire what they do.

Hi! Wanted to update. He's been home for a week now. He tends to wear out pretty easily. Sometimes he feels weak and a couple of times he's been almost normal for himself. I've never seen him get worn out from a grocery trip before all this, but he has now. I watch him pretty closely and keep a log.

They have put him on a bunch of meds when he was used to not taking any. Then they have made a couple of adjustments. He had to give himself shots the first few days.

He has to eat low sodium, low saturated fat, low vitamin k and has a water restriction. Additionally, he has to weigh himself each day. If he gains a certain amount in a certain time period he has to call the cardiologist. He also has to go get his finger pricked every week to be sure his blood is not too thick or too thin since they have him on blood thinner.

He has an appointment with a heart surgeon on April 5th. Hopefully will we have more of an idea of where we are going with all this then, though we know he needs the surgery.

Well, the appointment with the surgeon went well. Really well. I was so impressed with him. We both were. I didn't know doctors actually had the capacity to care so much. I've heard a lot of good things about this guy, too... Even from nurses! Rob's surgery is scheduled in two weeks -- April 21st. We have to be at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburg, IN at 5 a.m. Surgery will be a couple of hours after that. It's going to be a long morning...at least for me!

Surgery is this Thursday! We have to be at the hospital at 5 am... and it will start at 7:45 am.

I am in countdown mode big time... Getting everything in the house cleaned up so I won't have to face it all once he's home... and I will be able to concentrate on taking care of him and my studies.

Kinda nervous about it, too... scared, too. :(

I am really relieved that his best friend is planning on coming down for it. It will be nice to have him here even though I know he will drive me nuts, too. lol

Wanted to update everyone here to let them know Rob's surgeon said that everything went perfect and he was able to repair the valve perfectly. It just had a tear in it. Rob is recovering and doing well. :greenstars:

We came home last Monday from the hospital and he keeps getting stronger every day. He's doing so well that he hasn't even had any pain medication since Saturday... and he says he ran to the mailbox today. He's also been bending over a little bit. We have an appointment tomorrow for him to get stiches out. He's still not allowed to drive, lift anything over 5 lbs or use his arms to push or pull things that are heavier.
