As some of ya know, Itzel's mom went to Bayfront Hospital a week ago yesterday for surgery. It was discovered that she had uturin cancer. When the doctors went in to get it, they dicovered that the cancer spread to other parts of her female "down thereness", as well as some on her stomach. Looks like she'll be hitting the chemo. She came home Sunday, only to go back to the hospital on Tuesday because she was dehydrated. Or so we thought. She has an infection, possibly from the surgery, that shut down her stomach. As of Wednesday night, 6:49 PM, she is feeling better, and starting to eat. Then comes the double whammy. I got a call Monday night from MY mom's boyfriend that he had an ambulance take her to Mortin Plant Hospital, Largo, because she fell 3 times, and had lost feeling in the left side of her body. Following a CAT scan (she cannot have a full MRI because of bullet fragments in her head cause my biological dad shot at her), it was determined that a mass in her brain, not a stroke like I suspected, was impeading the feeling of her left side. The doctors performed 3 mor CAT scans and a very low level MRI on her entire body. Sadly, the mass was not an infection(the only positive the doctors would give us Tuesday). Early this afternoon, my mother was informed she had 5 golfball-sized tumors on her brain, and a "spot" on her lung. It is believed that the spot is lung cancer, and that it has spread to the brain. The tumors are unopperable. My mom also has MS and Lupus, so it doesn't look like chemo is an answer. I don't know if I will make it up to EC on Thursday, but I want to. I need this escape from reality. It's been really hard on both of us. I was doing all I could to be Itzel's rock during her time of need, then, all of a sudden, I get hit by a truck (that's a metaphor, I did not get hit by a truck). You guys are a psuedo-family for me, each of you a brother-in-arms in this fictional war of good vs evil. I need to have some fun really bad right about now, and only hope I can be there. So why am I boo-hooing this to all y'all? Therapy. Like I wrote before, I was the rock, and now I'm finding it hard to soften up. If you believe in a God, pray for us. If you don't, hope for us. Either way, send the healing vibes. |

| "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him..." UPDATE: Mom-in-Law just got home. She'll be starting chemo in about two weeks. My mom had a biopsy done on the "spot" on her lung. They assume eerything is lung cancer spread around, so if it is they'lldouse her with radiaton. I have no specifics just yet, the full results won't be available for "a few days". |

UPDATE: Radiation treatment has begun on the lung "spot", now acknowledged as a tumor, and possibly the origniator of all her cancer. This treatment is expected to kill this spot, and shrink the rest. This is a treatment, and not a cure, to prolong the quality of life. The results of the biopsy will still not be available for a few days, but the oncologist said, "Time is of the essence." If they get the little bugger that started this, the cancer will not continue to spread. Then again, it could be brain cancer, spread elsewhere. They won't be certain until the results are in. They are looking to add time to her life, and I can't say I blame them, so I won't be too pissed if they are wrong and they are hitting the wrong spot with the radiation. She has radiation treatments everyday for the next 3 weeks. |

My friend, I too have been through this. With my mom (throat cancer, twice. Radiation and surgery) and my girlfriends mom(Multiple tumors on her brain and many chemo treatments and surgeries). My mom is still around but Lisa's mom lost her battle a few years back. If you want to talk about it, I'm just a phone call away. Cancer is scary and very unpredicable. Remember, you're not alone in this and I'm sure we'll all lend a helping hand or shoulder
I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Mom's been given a timeline: 6 weeks to 6 months. About a half hour ago, my mom's lung collapsed from the biopsy. When I know more, so will you. |

I can't even begin to imagine what you've all been through; everybody in my family who has battled cancer, won. Sterling, I sincerely hope for your sake and your loved ones' sake that the time your mother has left is not spent in pain or suffering. I don't pray and I'm not religious, but you're all in my thoughts and hopes. |
