THE VENUSIAN QUEENDOM OF MORHEIM Morheim | National Flag | | Motto: Do Right and Fear No Man | BACKGROUND
In the 3rd Century BC the pagan followers of Jupiter in the region today known as "The Old Home" were visited by a wise woman known as Shona. She began preaching a new version of the faith which emphasised the role of the Goddess Venus as being more superior to that of Jupiter. The new faith slowly spread and became a minority religion. Throughout the period 200BC- 200 AD the followers of the new faith faced persecution and retreated into the mountains to follow their faith in peace, however followed by their oppressors they began to flee further and further away.
In 562 AD the group numbered in the low 2000's in terms of population, under the guidance of Queen Merana the group fought to acquire ships and supplies and escaped to establish a new home based on their faith. That home was named Morheim, meaning "Beautiful Home" in their native tongue, today a dying language.
Over the next 1500 years the faith spread and many flocked to the refuge for the religion, in addition the experienced fighters of Morheim soon managed to bring stability to their new region and between 600AD -1000 AD expanded their territory significantly.
Today while the nation retains the name "Venusian Queendom" it is a nation open to people of all faiths, however officially the worship of Venus is the only official religion and all monarchs must be followers of the faith. The nation is probably unique in the fact that it is the only monarchy where the crown flows down the female side of the family.

A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO VENUSISM
The nation of Morheim, in general, follows the religion of Venusism, a female dominated faith that is an off shot of an ancient religion in which Venus was already a powerful Goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and desire.
The religion began as a Cult in the 3rd Century BC when a handful of worshippers began to elevate her above both Mars and Jupiter who were often seen as the most powerful. This cult was established by a woman known simply as Shona, very little is known of her life before she began preaching that Venus was the power behind the throne and that the aspects she portrayed where more important than those of Mars and Jupiter. Eventually the faithful established a set of doctrine and belief based on the idea that Venus is responsible for all life as she is the goddess of fertility, thus giving her power over life itself.
Today in Morheim the faith is followed by around 92% of citizens which has lead to a unique (OOC - for now) concept that the monarchy is passed down the female line of succession. There is also the belief that the royal family can trace their lineage back to a ancient folk hero called Aeneas who was the human son of Venus.
The main celebrations of this faith take place during April as this was the traditional beginning of Spring when new life returned to the world.
April 1st - The statue of Venus from every Temple is taken to a river or lake and ceremonial washed by young woman. This is followed by a large procession through the area and street parties.
April 23rd - People celebrate Venus' gift of wine. It is believed that Jupiter had ordained that wine was supposed to be enjoyed only by the Gods and Priests, however using her greater power and influence Venus made it available for all. The first glasses of last years vintage are sampled at large parties.
August 19th - The Festival of the Pressing. On this day the traditional first bottle of wine is made, it is stored away until the following April 23rd where it is presented to the Temple as an offering. The festival also blesses farms and vineyards before the harvest, this is often accompanied by the sacrifice of a lamb.
September 26th - Dedication of Faith - On this day the monarch or highest ranking female royal, who is also the High Priestess of the faith journeys to a Temple of their choosing and publically reaffirms their obedience to the faith.
RELIGIONS STANCE OF VARIOUS FACTORS
What happens after death?
The human spirit ascends to heaven where it is judged by Venus. Those living a good life are admitted to heaven and live amongst the Gods. Those having lived a bad life are consigned to the Underworld where the God Orcus resided.
Homosexuality
Venus preaches love above all, therefore homosexuality is not frowned upon and same sex marriage has been supported for the last three centuries.
Drugs and Alcohol
These are not frowned upon but are also to be taken in moderation. Ceremonies often include the drinking of wine and beer. Drugs were not an issue at the time of Shona, however it is thought that those coming from natural sources are acceptable as long as they do not create negative thoughts or actions.
Marriage
Marriage is a sacred bond. The faith allows women to take more than one husband or wife. This can lead to some complex social networks. The royal family however have always seen the Queen have no more than two husbands, traditionally a husband, often called the Venus Groom, is taken on the day of the Queen's coronation and quiet often is from an arranged marriage. The Queen's 2nd partner however is often chosen from love and is referred to as the Heart Groom.
Adultery is not uncommon in Morheim as Venus had many lovers.

HER MAJESTY QUEEN SONIA KLASSON
Born:- 7th May 1970
Place of Birth:- Queenstown Royal Infirmary
Parents:- Queen Anna Klasson (d.7th September 2006) and King Edwin Klasson 2nd Father:- Crown Prince Leopold Klasson Siblings:- (Full) Prince Marcus Klasson (born 1967), Princess Henrietta (born 1973) (Half) Prince Casper (born 1976), Princess Tamzin (born 1980)
Husbands:-
Married in 1999 - William Carmichael, future Duke of Royston Vasey (Heart Groom) Married in 2006 - Richard Macey, future Duke of Homberg (Venus Groom)
Crowned :- 7th Novemeber 2006
As the eldest daughter of Queen Anna II it was always Sonia's destiny to one day be Queen of her nation. Growing up she had a good relationship with both her natural father and her "2nd Father". King Edwin taught her music while Prince Leopold taught her riding and fencing. Like many royals of the past she was educated with a private tutor until the age off 11 at which point she attended the Queenstown Academy for Girls where her teachers said she excelled in the Arts and History.
During her time at school she gained a reputation for composing music and for a brief time formed a "rock band" at the age of 14 with four other girls in her class, however her mother found out and banned her from owning a guitar and as such the band fell apart. She did however continue attending the school's music shows where she would often sing and play piano.
At the age of 16 she sat her "National Grading" a series of exams to access the students knowledge and skills in a range of subjects. Sonia gained an average score of 1.3 (1 being the best and 9 the worst) which included 1's in Music, Art, Morheimian and History amongst others. Armed with excellent results she enrolled into the schools Futher Education system and continued to study History, Music, Geography and Psychology gaining an average score of 1.5 at the end of two years.
In 1988 her mother arranged her marriage to the youngest son of the Duke of Homberg. Richard Macey was just five years old at the time and it was widely reported that Sonia did not approve of the arrangement. The marriage would take place either when Sonia became Queen or Richard turned 18, whichever was later.
As has been tradition with royals over the last 100 years she took a year away from studying to travel the Queendom doing voulentary work where she helped on projects ranging from a reading programme in a school to helping plant trees in the mountains. Upon completion of this year she enrolled in the Royal Academy of Music where she gained a degree in Music and Music Engineering in 1993. While at University she began a relationship with fellow student William Carmichael, the son of the Duke of Royston Vasey.
Between 1993 and 1998 Sonia worked as a violinist for the National Orchestra and even composed some of her own works which were performed on the anniversary of her mother's coronation. She also began taking on some minor royal duties including a role as an ambassador of the arts.
In 1999 she married William in a large ceremony which saw thousands attended and took him as her Heart Groom. The marriage still holds the record for the largest TV audience for a non-sporting event in the nation. William by now had set up his own Music Academy as well as a small record label and radio station, mostly established using money provided by his father's extensive estate. William also stood to inherit his father's media company's which include a TV station and several magazine's and newspapers.
Sonia gave birth to her first child in 2001 and named him Marcus after her elder brother.
In 2005 her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Sonia took on the full range of royal duties supported by her brother Marcus. When Queen Anna died on the 7th September 2006 Sonia honoured her families commitment to the Duke of Homberg by permitting Richard Macey to move into the royal palace. This was the first time they had really spent time together since the arranged marriage. The new Queen actually found she got on well with the now 23 year old Richard.
Sonia was crowned Queen two months after her mothers death on 7th November 2006. She married Richard that afternoon in a smaller ceremony held at the Palace. The next day she announced that from then on William would be known as King William, while Richard would be Crown Prince Richard.
She gave birth to her daughter and heir on 7th August 2007. Princess Katarina is the daughter of King William. On 7th June 2010 she gave birth to Princess Mary, she is the daughter of Crown Prince Richard.

William meet Sonia at University where they both studied Music related subjects. The two instantly became friends and then lovers. In 1999 the pair married in a large ceremony. William was named King the day after Sonia became Queen. He devotes much of his time to managing the business of the royal estate which has become extremely profitable.
He is father to Prince Marcus who was born in 2001 and Princess Katarina who was born in 2007

Born in 1983 Richard is the eldest son of the Duke of Homberg and stands to inherit the title on his father's death.
His father was a close friend of the Queen's family and managed to make arrangements for his son to marry Sonia when he either reached the age of 18 or Sonia became Queen, whichever came last. In 2006 at the age of 23 he married the Queen becoming her 2nd husband, he was granted the title Crown Prince. At first he and the Queen were not close however that has changed over time. He serves as a member of the Royal Military Police and holds the rank of Captain.

THE GOVERNMENT OF MORHEIM
The Government of Morheim is a three tier system. The lowest and middle tier are collectively known as Parliament
The lowest tier is the House of Commons
The House of Commons
The House of Commons is elected every four years by popular vote. The nation is split into 400 regions known as seats each of which elects a Member of Parliament. These representatives usually form part of a Political Party, the largest of which is permitted to choose one of their number to be the Prime Minister.
The House of Commons meet in the Palace of the People

The House of Commons will propose and debate legislation which if approved is passed onto the next tier up, the House of Nobility. The House may also overturn a veto of the Queen if 70% of it's members agree.
The current make up of the house is;
The Liberal Party - 204 seats The Traditionalist Party - 161 seats The Workers Party - 21 seats The Venusian Party - 10 seats Independents - 4 seats
The House of Nobility
The House of Nobility is the Upper Chamber of Parliament, it is made up of 600 members of the nobility. The members are selected by lot from those who wish to be part of the House of Nobility. A member may only serve for two consecutive terms before their name is withdrawn from the next lot.
The House of Nobility passes its opinion on legislation reaching it from the House of Commons, any legislation lacking support is returned with recommendations to the lower chamber. Upon an Act's third reading in the House it must be passed, however the House of Nobility can suggest that the legislation is veto'd by the Queen but she is under no obligation to take heed of it.

The House of Nobility meets 2km away from the House of Commons in High Lawn House.
The Monarchy
The Monarchy may rule by decree on issues other than the budget and taxation, these decrees however can also be overturned by the House of Commons. The Queen may also veto legislation coming up through the Houses of Parliament, this too may be over ruled.
The Monarchy is heriditory and passes to the previous monarchs oldest female child, should they have no female child it then passes to eldest male child, then eldest sister, eldest brother, then female cousins etc until an heir is found.
The Queen resides in Burghley Palace
