It had been ten years since Leopold had last served in an official capacity for the Queendom, in his younger days he had often enjoyed the hectic nature of visiting other nations, engaging in diplomatic talks and events, being the 2nd husband of Queen Anna it would normally have been expected that he play a minor role in the nation, however with his co-husband Edwin being a committed Naval officer it had often fallen to him to take on the roles. He felt the old excitement begin again as the aircraft touched down in Hochburg, he glanced across the small private jet, his granddaughter Paige was drumming nervously on the marble inlay of the table while looking out of the window. "You nervous" he asked her snapping her gaze back to the interior of the fuselage.

"A little" she said not sounding convincing, she paused for a moment, "Actually a lot" she added with a nervous smile.

"I'll let you into a secret" the bearded Prince replied leaning closer; "So am I" he leaned back into his chair, "The moment you don't feel nervous is the moment you've become too comfortable with this whole thing, but don't worry, it shows you care about your homeland, that's why your nervous, that's what you thinking of, don't let the folks back home down, right?" Paige nodded that was exactly what she was thinking.

"I'm sure we'll do fine, I mean your a bright girl, brighter than me when I was your age. Look at this way, when I was 19 I was assured of one day marrying royalty, I didn't have a care in the world, I knew that one day I'd have wealth, influence, all that good stuff, it was only when your grandmother made me realise I wasn't going to be given an easy life I upped my game, I had to work hard to make sure I did her proud, I think I did."

"You did" Paige said sweetly, Leopold may not be her biological grandfather but Paige looked on him much the same way as her biological grandfather Prince Edwin.

"Thanks" he smiled before continuing as the aircraft began to slow on the runway; " You dear are naturally bright, I mean one day you're going to be some highly flying Marine Biologist, or follow your other grandfather in the Navy, probably command the whole damn thing one day. You've the brains for this certainly, just let me worry about everything else." The aircraft had stopped and the Prince stood, "You set"

"I'm set" Paige said standing up and slipping on her short black jacket over a white blouse and plain black trousers, a splash of colour was added by the red and yellow scarf at her neck.

"Good" he linked his arm through hers, "Lets go meet the neighbours" he said as they stepped through the cabin doors and down onto the tarmac of the hosts.

"Well perhaps for a start why it's such a militarised city, I mean back home we tend not to have military armour trundling round our streets, at least not unless it's my Aunt's brthday when Queenstown have a large parade." Paige explained, "Our cities tend to be full of narrow little streets going back a few hundred years, I suspect they didn't exactly predict heavy armour, mabe a few horses."

"Well, its more of a modern thing. DEN was a loose establishment of people. Its a complicated history, but we've been militaristic because of what we do. We've simply been a target for so long, we decided fuck it, excuse me, and built walls. Its a heritage of ours." He explained. "This place can be turned into a fortress in less than a day. Trust me."

"Well as a nation with a history of military actions we can understand that" Leopold replied, "Although since the last 300 years or so we've managed to ensure our nation has less issues, we've largely been at peace, the amount of religious persecution that created our nation has faded as we've created the Law of Return which grants speedy citizenship rights to all Venusians."

"Interesting... A religious nation." Vladimir replied, staring and thinking to himself. "There is no religion here. We are all atheists. Mostly. Religion was officially and publicly banned in the '80s. For real reasons, I might add. Not because we wanted to be assholes."

Paige didn't react to the bad language, instead she shook her head internally, it just wasn't the way one acted in polite company she thought. "Well freedom of religion is permitted in Morheim" she began to explain, "Just around 2,000 years ago when the Venusian faith began we weren't exactly popular, cue around 1,000 years worth of fleeing, forming ourself into a cohesive military , fleeing against large odds and then finally settling in modern day Morheim we have become a kind of beacon for our faith."

"I congratulate you for finding your freedom and home, comrade." Vladimir replied, and nodded. They weren't as bad as everyone thought, but it was nice to meet people who did have their own freedom. "But enough of the small talk. Let us get down to business, shall we? No man is stupid enough to bug my car, so I feel that we are safe to talk."

"Well" Leopold began, "Our instructions are to ensure that our two nations begin to make sure that we have a smooth, swift for of communication between our nations, after all regular contact is a necessity for any kind of relationship to begin, beyond that we have a pretty large remit as to what we can agree to, so in terms of topics we're all ears."

"There is one thing" Paige said as she waited for her grand-father to begin, "In her talks in the Teutonic Union a rather different approach to embassies has been taken shape, I believe my Aunt is quiet keen to extend this system, however having listened to you I'm not sure if a reciprocal nature would work, anyway let me explain." the youngster took a deep breath, "The Queendom and the Union have agreed to kind of revive the ancient tradition of a emissary at court, in essence an ambassador would be granted rooms in the royal Palace. Now this would mean you don't need to worry about finding a suitable building within Queenstown or ensuring strict security beyond say a couple of security agents. The ambassador would be in more regular contact with the family, therefore would be more intune with what's going on in Morheim, furthermore they would be able to take an active part in the Palace social events meaning making connections with other nations we invite or other ambassadors. We don't know if its going to work smoothly." Paige was being honest, it was a jump into the unknown, an old tradition going back some few hundred years, "On our side we get the advantage of having quick access to your ambassador should situations arise. However with you having a different system of government I'm not sure if the concept of a royal court with the palace being a hub of government is applicable. Should you agree though we would be happy to extend the same privilege to your nation as we have to the Teutonic Union."

"Ahh. I see. First of all, we do not necessarily keep people inside the capitol building that are not a part of the Politburo, the military, or the government at large. For us it is too much of a security risk, and I imagine, a good security risk for you as well." Vladimir explained, taking the time to point that out. "As for communications, setting up a secure communication line is very good indeed. We can send an ambassador, and you may house him wherever you may wish, but unfortunately, our embassies on our land tend to be a little farther away from the building. After all, while more royal houses may be grand and elegant, you might not enjoy being inside a military base, no?"

"Well having spent two years in the Naval reserve during which time I've spent a seven week tour on-board a Frigate I think I'm aware of the conditions within military establishments" Paige said with a grin, "However we would not like to inconvenience you, therefore I think the more traditional embassy approach may be our best bet, I'd like to see if we can find a suitable location before I leave and then of course leave you with an idea of our staffing levels, once home I'd have my Aunt appoint an ambassador who I am sure would be delighted to present you with their credentials, meanwhile the Queen would of course be accepting your own ambassador. I think I can actually recommend a location for your own embassy in Queenstown, there is a rather nice cobbled street in the old part of the city, quiet a few empty buildings."

"You may do so whenever you wish." He said politely, and with a smile. "And I shall prepare an ambassador for your nation as soon as I get word of approval."
