 To:- The Government of The Confederacy of Turkducken On behalf of the League of Monarchs we thank you for your application to join. In order to allow the membership to vote on your application it will be necessary for us to meet for discussions to allow me to report back to the others. I am delighted that this task has been allocated to my nation and in turn my sister Queen Alison has allocated the task to me. I will be delighted to meet at your earliest convenience and hope things go smoothly. With Deepest Respect Princess Anna of United Moreland Anna had to be honest she knew very little of Turkducken, in a way that excited her, the chance to experience something new, the last time she'd done such a thing it was visiting the nation of SpaTru. Her excitement though hadn't stopped her sleeping most of the journey, it was a skill that she found rather useful. "Your Highness" the stewardess shook her gently in her First Class seat of the airline flight. Anna gave a fient grunt and then woke up looking rather embarassed, "We're just coming into land, can I check your belt." "Yes, sorry" Anna pulled the belt to show she had it strapped. She looked out of the window as the new country zipped by below, it was early morning and so she didn't see a great deal beside a few lights, then before she knew it the wheels hit the tarmac. She waited for the obligatory seat belt sign to go off before standing and checking that Captain Jameson of the Royal Scouts was still behind her, as expected he was already set to go. They were permitted off first and Anna and Jameson got through passport control relatively easy, at which point they made their way through to arrivals and waited for someone official looking. |

A young woman in her mid 30s ran up to greet the Princess, she was out of breath and paused to rest before speaking, "I'm terribly sorry for the delay your majesty, the President had just told me about this meeting and I got here as soon as possible." She extended her hand, "I'm the Prime Minister of Turkducken, you may call me Kayla. It is an honor to receive you in my country. I apologize profusely for the rick shod conditions of this meeting, but I had very little time to prepare, and we also have no knowledge of your country." |

"Well Prime Minister" Anna began, slightly concerned about the woman's health, "with respect I'm not here on behalf of United Moreland, however I'd be happy to tell you anything you'd wish to know about my homeland." She followed Kayla towards the exit. "I'm here on behalf of the League of Monarchs, you applied and it is now up to the Full Members, my homeland, The Teutonic Union and Morheim to vote on your admission, now I'm sorry to say as we have little knowledge of your nation it was felt necessary for there to be some kind of pre vote visit, our nation was asked to do it and my sister dispatched me, so here I am" she smiled at Kayla. "The purpose though is two fold, its a big decision joining the League, and so its vital your comfortable doing so, I'm here to make sure your happy with what it entails and that your made aware of the parts that as an Associate Member you're interested in. Now perhaps we can talk over those things to start off with, it'd also be interesting to see some of your beautiful nation, sadly I was asleep as we flew into it so I did't really get to see much." |

"Oh...I apologize for the misunderstanding, I misunderstood the meaning of this meeting. I suppose we'll leave that until another time." the Prime Minister said slightly dejected. She escorted the Princess out into the morning sun. A thin mist rested above the surface, blown in from the bay by the early tide, the simple building that they had exited was revealed in the sun as damaged and slightly worn from age and miss use. Patience, the capitol city, spread out from coast to coast of the bay. The hill that the airport was built on offered a picturesque view of the cities multicolored buildings; that appeared to simply sprout out from the various crags and walls that lined the bay. The Prime Minister escorted the Princess into the car, a bright white van, and received a notepad from the chauffeur. "Now, where do we begin?" |

"If it's desirable and you wish to speak about potential things with United Moreland then I'd be happy to extend my stay once these formalities are done, my sister is always happy to sit and discuss things with any nation, so I'm sure she'd be delighted, but I suppose that comes later" Anna said as she entered the car. "In terms of the League of Monarchs application I'm here to find out your nations system of government, views of certain things in the world and of course your own ideas for the future of the organisation, we're only a fledgling thing after all, lots of room to grow and expand. So perhaps a good place to start would be to find out about how your nations government works?" Anna said preparing to take mental notes. |

"Well..." the Prime Minister began, biting the end of her pen. "To begin with, its my job to advise the President on any actions he may take, as I was elected by representatives from Parliament, who in turn were elected by the people. The President was elected a few years ago and his term limit will never expire so long as he is willing to be the ruler of Turkducken, or until he passes from this plane of existence into the next. Finally we have 17 Supreme Justices that were appointed by the President and by Parliament, in a 9 to 8 split, in the President's favor. The President has the ultimate say in what becomes law, trade deals, diplomacy, etc. The Justices are responsible for solving all legal cases in Turkducken that supersede the authority of the native towns, villages, tribes that inhabit the land outside of the capitol. As well as being responsible for bringing government officials to justice." She paused to ponder the second part of the request. "Well we know precious little about the outside world, we used to explore the world centuries ago according to folk tales. But the Mad King destroyed any knowledge that we had before that time, and the following Junta did little to help until where we are now. Besides the Khanate, who Parliament is rather terrified of, we know nothing of anything else out there. On social issues we believe that everyone is equal, whether that be the Slugs that live East, or Gnomes in the West, or Humans anywhere in the country. We're all apart of the same family, centuries of repression and governmental control really helped us Turks learn to love each other." She paused apprehensively, "As for the last part...I'll have to consort with the President about any particular goals that we set with this organization." |

"So species diverse then?" Anna said, "United Moreland is pretty much just human" she said, the place being an island had meant that migration onto the island had not always been easy. The Morelanders had no problems with other species it just wasn't common to see one walking down the streets of Lancaster. "So this mad King? What's the story there then?" Anna knew Robert would probably enjoy that story. "Perhaps when we have everyone together from your government we can start by discussing your nations opinions on several incidents in the world, it would perhaps be a good test of how you'd get along with the Teutons and the Morheimians." she added hoping to prepare the Prime Minister for some of the questions she had lined up later, however she wanted to see their honest opinions not some they'd had hours to prepare, for now she would be happy listening to some old folk tale while they made their way to their destination. |

"That is a long story," the Prime Minister exhaled with a sigh, "to begin with the Confederacy used to be divided amongst the races, we don't really know when we became a Confederacy, at least not a solid date to be exact. But at some point we were a highly divided union of tribes and cities, little was passed and racial tensions only increased because of the polarization of goals between the different races. It was a human, some say, that gathered the tribal leaders and poisoned them. Afterwards he raised an army and conquered the remaining peoples under his banner, he became known as the Lionheart, fair and balanced but delivered a divine and swift justice on wrongdoers. Centuries after this event, the generally positively viewed Monarch lost much of its prestige when another man ascended the throne after allegations of poisoning his father. This was the 'Mad King', his rule is remembered in our most recent history by mass killings, human supremacy, and famine. He ascended to the throne sometime in the 19th Century, and it ended near the turn of the 20th with a violent Civil War when even the Army had enough of the senseless killings. The people rallied around the General, a man named Cromwell, and a provisional government was installed in an attempt to keep the peace. This failed however with the Gnome Riots in the West. Turks, for whatever reason, are a fiercely independent bordering on anarchistic people, and the Gnomes attempted to break away and proclaim independence. The provisional government failed in making rational decisions, and some of the old folk distinctively remember it as corrupt, they decided to put a generally peaceful independence movement down with force. In a widely supported move at the time, General Cromwell had the members of this government tried in a military court and publically executed. Then in what he assured was a temporary measure to restore order Turkducken was placed under Martial Law. More Racial cleansings happened under the Junta, the Slugs were almost completely wiped out, the Vu reduced to slaves, and the Gnomes numbers were culled generationally. Dwarves and Elves escaped the persecution for being passably human, and few 'pure' races exist due to cross-breeding with Humans in a survival attempt. Eventually the people were broken by the violence, and accepted the status quo, that is until the 21st Century when a young human man began preaching the ethics of a non-violent opposition. The logic being that Turks were sick of violence, therefore to inspire hope in the people; resistance had to be in unison and everyone had to be equal. While Humans were the dominant race at the time, they couldn't just write off this one rebellious youth and his following of non-humans, especially not when they marched in the city of Patience itself. This human, as you may have guessed, was the President. After years of peaceful resistance and shortly following harsh repression, their came the last day of the resistance when the Military and the Resistance met each other in the streets of Patience. What was expected to be the largest day of protest, became Liberation day when the Commanding Officers of the Army surrendered their weapons, with teary eyes and heavy consciences, to Lance Faraday. With no Army to fight for him the General, kept alive by machines and the best doctors from across Turkducken, unplugged himself from life-support and surrendered his title to his aide; who summarily surrendered to the people." the Prime Minister exhaled heavily, "I never saw any of this however, I only heard of it, at the time when this happened I was serving in the Navy. I was the Captain of the Frigate "Clemency" and had been advocating on behalf of the Vu for years. The Vu repaid my compassion by electing me to Parliament, where I became a unifier and eventually Prime Minister." |
