| For all the impatient birds who don't have enough patience to read guideline topics. Just read this. |
I. Royalty (tl;dr no 'fire princesses' and 'water chiefs') We're not allowing Royalty characters in this Book, because majority Royalty characters do not reside in Republic City, which is where our current book caters around. So titles such as Firelord, Water Princess, Earth King, etc. are temporarily restricted. As much as we'd love to leave it open, some people presume these titles as vantage points and use them as a right to importance. We want to avoid letting a single character be important because I want EVERYONE to be important. This is also why we don't have an Avatar for this book. When Book II comes along, you will be allowed to create new characters who are these titles, or develop your prior characters into these positions. In book II the Avatar will also be chosen. This is all being done to promote an equal grounding for all of the roleplayers. It's not determined on skill, because I believe everyone should have a good time regardless of roleplaying competence. However, if you truly believe that the Royalty your applying for won't obstruct the flow of the roleplay, please ask me, and only me.
II. The Avatar (tl;dr no Avatar now) For the first Book, there will not be an Avatar. Please don't ask. We are trying to keep the beginning of the role-play in a significantly more balanced condition which has come to reason where allowing someone to role-play the Avatar at this very moment would upset the balance, lead to people forming cliques, and overall leave out certain people from the core of the role-play. This doesn't mean that we will never have an Avatar. It just means now we wont. In the next book you will only be able to be considered for the Avatar position if you follow the criteria on [link]
III. Sub-Bending (tl;dr don't start ur character off with a sub-element) No character is starting off with a sub-element, so please do not include these in your biographies whether you consider your character 'hasn't unlocked' it or not. If there's anything in your biography regarding a sub-element upon creation, it will not be moderated because you obviously didn't read this post.
IV. Blood-bending, Lava Bending (tl;dr if ur not a volcano, ur not bending lava.) Just don't think your going to be bending these anytime soon.
V. Pro bending (actually read this) Pro-Bending will hold significant merits alongside the Storyline in accord to developing your characters. If you want to pace fast in the role-play, create a team and participate.
VI. Development (im BEGGING, PLEASE read this) Development is not a by-week, and is not something you get points to do. You choose when you want to develop. Of course, it will be moderated according to the merit of the reason why you decided to develop and the time from your last development.
VII. Death (tl;dr suck it up) Many roleplays do not believe in murdering characters, but this is allowed in the roleplay. It can be hard to handle when your character dies, especially as developing a character here takes a good amount of energy. If you feel that your character was very much wrongly killed, you must create a dispute in the courthouse section of the forum so that the staff can resolve your case. We encourage you use this instead of arguing in the room with the defendant.
VIII. The Books (a confusing, but detrimental concept) You've heard the talk "Book I, Book II" but I want to clarify that these mark your time in the roleplay, rather than just being separate storylines. At the end of Book I, (which I plan should hopefully last for 2 weeks), we'll be sending the roleplay into limbo and no activity should take place until the re-opening of Avatar for Book II. Everything will be stored on the forums and kept securely so when we come back for Book II, we dive right into the action. In Book I, we've planned that the majority of characters should start off as adolescents, systematically developing until the end of the Book. Once the Book's storyline is completed, the roleplay will enter this limbo, and when it re-opens, we'll execute a timeskip. This timeskip means that, your character is able to become any of the royalty/titles that weren't allowed in the First Book. This is again, to put everyone on an equal ground; everyone will have the chance to become a royalty/title. |
