Making good progress on the Shadow War terrain. Painted the walkways blue and the pipes/furnaces as yellow, as homage/compatability with my foam core Necromunda terrain. Less than ideal is the fact that the new terrain uses 5" high as the standard, whereas my Necro stuff is multiples of 3". The ruleset owes much to 2nd edition 40k (that also went on to be developed into Necromunda). However, its not Necromunda rules as such because as it has a simplified after battle sequence / team advancement. Fluff wise, it stays consistent with the ongoing 3rd war of Armageddon, with the forces representing Imperial Kill teams / Ork saboteurs trapped within Hive Acheron (which was thrown into civil war / ork infiltration by Von Strab). Getting promethium and unlocking specialists represents finding hidden weapon caches etc. There is no mention in the fluff of any of the other Kill Teams that you can make using the extra download rules. So they could/should be on different worlds (avoiding tricky questions of why every main race in 40k canon has sent Kill teams to the same place...). |

Ask not the EldarVeteran a question, for you will get three answers all (probably) true and horrifying to know Models purchased/gifted 2015, 2016 and 2017 = 169, 130, 232. Models painted = 139, 83, 189 . Net impact on grey plastic mountain = 120 extra models to pile Models purchased/gifted 2018 = 39. Models painted in 2018 = 53 . Net impact on grey plastic mountain = 14 models off pile

I did wonder why every race / faction in 40k would be at Armageddon, but I guess that makes a bit more sense now - play it as orks v marines at Hive Acheron, or play as any factions you like fighting in <generic hive> on <generic hive world> So I guess we (the gaming collective) have to accept that Necromunda is not coming back in its old form (sorry James), in which case we can make SW:A work in its place or go into denial. Question is, how easy would it be to hang the old Necromunda gangs on the new rules framework if desired? |

I think we might still see Necromunda as a game - all it would take would be to introduce more of the campaign elements. Specialist games were rumoured to be working on gangs. Not checked but I think the gangs can port over easily to Shadow War. |

I wonder if rather than a stand alone game instead we might see some form of expansion to the box game? Shadow War: Necromunda? Possibly simply gangs with rules for them, or possibly gangs plus advanced campaign rules. Idle speculation. |

If, if what Doc Jon told me turns out to be true and this is the replacement for Necromunda, i will be forever disappointed in GW, no matter what. Just please, don't let them f***up Titanicus ( whatever they end up calling it ). |

@Adrian & James: did you guys play any at the club on Saturday? |

We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. And you know why? Because we are so... very... pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die. Huh? Look at that chiseled jaw, huh? Come on! YOU CAN'T GIVE HER THAT, IT'S NOT SAFE! It's a sword they're not meant to be safe. Overkill is very underrated.

I have yet to convince Ol'Grumpy to descend into the Sprawl. However, I am having lots of fun assembling up an Ork marauding crew. 14 of these built so far. I've tried to avoid min-maxing and gone for rule of cool as I see it. To distinguish models, the Yoofs have bare heads, Boys have helmets and some odd bits of armour. I've cut off all these legs and reattached to the socket for the torso more upright, to avoid the slouched forward 'great ape' pose. Makes them look bulkier- especially as Im using 32mm bases for them. Dug out a odd box of Orks I inherited - same sprues as the standard Ork one in Shadow Wars but also a load of metal arms holding stick grenades so I can have more than one bomber Yoof. Orks are a great faction because of the range of aftermarket suppliers that do bits / whole models / orky vehicles. So you can personalise to choice (British commandos / Mexicans / Russian / German just some of them). |

Lets just say I won't be playing and leave it at that. It's not for me, I'm too old a fluff / nostalgia nerd to go play this. |

Don't worry, all this work on the scenery and 'gangs' sets us up nicely for actual necromunda games later in the year using the Yaktribe ruleset.

Got my delivery today from eBay : two sets of Deathwatch Overkill board tiles. That gives me a great layout to act as the 'floor' of the Sprawl. 2 1/2 ft by just over 3ft. Also means I have a rulebook for Deathwatch Overkill as well, plus 2 sets of cards. |

It's just part of my list of stuff i won't be playing, it's not on it's own ( the list is extensive ). I try not to preach to the masses ( i fail, i know ) about how everyone has their own hobby and i try not to inflict my way of hobbying on others ( again, sometimes i fail ). It's just not for me or my hobby.
