WWOWW !!! An awesome evening around the table. I must say that I was a bit nervous at first, and probably no more than all the newb's to the game. Firstly I'd like to thank Richard for all the material that he provided for all of us, we couldn't have played without all your 'stuff' dude, big up to ya!!!! Thanks to all the players for their diligence with their characters, for really beginning to 'get into character' and taking advantage of their oversized craniums to the improvement of the gaming experience for all. I had great fun, and will keep it coming from my side. We spent about three hours finalising all the character bits, since Cammy and Webwraith hadn't their Character info with them (Last warning!). I think we did well to get going at the time we did. We then decended into a chop-chop fest with Boggers and Thrall bits flying in all direction, a lot of bits were thanks to Bandek the Trollkin and his Umbrean War axe!!  The party got off to a flying start as they headed out from Five Fingers to 'cleanse' a waystation from walking dead. A Bogrin gang tried to waylay them, and almost succeeded, almost! NOT! Lyssiandra discovered the virtues of Lots of Hit Points and Rossaria found that thralls bite quite sore, her scream revealed. A massive combat hack took up most of the session with the PC earning quite a nice net of Experience points for the evening. They now have time to lick their wounds, before they fester and get narsty on them! Thanks for all the patience and support throughout the session guys, Quigglebert is hooked...he was (forgive me mate) almost rambling as he conspired to convert us all to the only true Ascendant, through the persona of his inevitable character, ha ha! Got Ya!!! |

I have to say...that was the most fun i've had in a long time, Jack played out a littttle differently than i thought. But it was all good either way. Thanks for running man, seriously. ANd for some reason....i pictured that bogrin as Badger from firefly I have to say....the quote of the night.... "it smells like feet." Edited by shadowdragon, Aug 17 2008, 06:52 PM.

I've still got to work a little on Lyss, but I think I'm gonna enjoy this... a hell of a lot more now than I previously did.. which was VERY VERY VERY MUCH INDEED!! EDIT: and I just read the second post in the News. All I want to say is; Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Sorry, fanboyishness over now

As an observer at one stage it looked a right scream...most of the screaming coming from all the characters who got a little to close to the undead teeth! The highlight for me was a character running up the stairs to help some dude in trouble, but the door way was blocked by another 'do gooder'. The only way the help could arrive was to swing this huge axe with such power as to cleave its way through the wall and bisect the undead from head to groin!

Well it was a close save wasn't it. @ Webwraith: She's a complex little character and you've gotta go with 'her' feelings not your own, it'll come to you. Being 'in character' is the best way to help yourself: i.e. Lyss wants to use her Jump spell to get onto the roof, right... 1. I cast my jump spell and make a jump d20 roll, she jumps up to the windowledge. OR 2. I reach into the Weave, while my right hand takes out a small steel spring from my pouch. I make the arcane gestures required with my left. I feel the spring disintergrate in my hand as it is consumed by the magic building inside. My body feels strong and light. I make a d20 jump roll and lightly flex my legs before propelling myself the unbelievable distance upward to the second storey ledge. That's getting into character, that makes young girls scream and throw their...youknowwhats at you!...  @Courageous: Most game sessions can disintergrate/degenerate into a scream-fest (larf-wise), but the sessions will change relating to the 'seriousness' of the tasks at hand. But having a blast is of paramount importance. It was so nice to see a bunch of 'old' gamers get so damb excited about a dice roll again. When it's your @R$E on the line you want to pull out the stops and go Full Stoke, Full Steam. @Shadowdragon: Jack is doing great so far mate, with Bendek setting the 'mood' for combat the way he does, you can grow into your own 'strengths'. But playing him slightly apprehensive and defensive in combat is great in the early stages of his development. He's not a mince-grinder like our Trollkin is, but he can hand out some serious smack when the chips are down. When your armour improves and you have more Hit Points to play with, then it's easier to get 'stuck in'. All round fantastic evening, such a nice way to use existing figures as well (Thralls, etc), a nice cost saver! Edited by Gelfin, Aug 19 2008, 06:59 PM.

i would just like to point out that i didnt scream.... i mean me scream, no i uh called for assistance when i was fondled by some undead chap who wouldnt stop pestering me when i was trying to prove my worth to the savages in the party, cannot complain however as i got a emerald and some fine vintage wine for all of my hard work. |

You guys are really starting to think as your characters, I know what it's like...moments that you can almost swear that you're in their shoes, writing from their minds and memories. I'm gonna post something in the Off Topic section for you'all to read. Something that I wrote a few years back now, about a character of mine. A Ranger4/Bard11 named Llandis Questra L'Orion. Based in the Forgotten Realms. The two main characters are those that Richard and I waxed about at the first session. But it's the emotion that the piece conveys to me today still that brought Llandis so alive for all the other players in our sessions. Keep it up guys, the excitement builds and I'll do my very best not to disappoint! |
