Hello all, after much discussion with the powers that be round here I am able to announce the 40k campaign that will be running at Bury Wargamers Club from January next year.... [drum roll...]![]() This is a narrative campaign, set against a backdrop of an Imperial task force (consisting of an alliance of several Space Marine Chapters, and the Inquisition plus their inducted Guard regiments) hunting down a war-mongering warband of traitorous, Chaos-worshipping Marines. Here is a summary of the setting: “For almost 1,000 years a force of rogue Space Marines, dubbed the Legion of Taurus, have plagued the Odothese Sector; raiding naval patrols and outposts, defiling holy temples, and inciting uprisings of Chaos cultists on several worlds. The forces of the Imperium, led by the Inquisition, have finally traced these Traitors to a small, uninhabitable mining planet in a region of ungoverned space – Xergev’s Folly. The Avenging Eagles Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes thought they had the element of surprise when they launched their attack – but they were walking in to a trap, and the Space Marines were almost entirely decimated. The forces of Chaos had lured them deliberately. Now other Chapters are being drawn to the planet, as well as Imperial Guard regiments indentured by the Inquisition – all aiming to hunt down and crush the traitorous Marines and the followers of Chaos once and for all. But the Legion of Taurus are expecting them. And they have a plan...” I'll just say a few things about the campaign:
I should also add that I'm working on a full Campaign Booklet, listing all of the scenarios, additional rules, and full background for the conflict on Xergev. Also, I'm hoping to offer a couple of prizes and a conversion/painting competition, but there'll be more details of those in the Campaign Booklet. If you have any specific questions about the Campaign, please ask them here; I'll open another thread for signing up. Okay, thank you for reading, I hope everyone who takes part in the campaign enjoys it!

Any chance of including some Battlefleet Gothic engagements into the campaign? I've had a couple of people express some interest in playing this. |

Hey Scriptus, I'm a huge fan of the Specialist Games (clearly, Epic is my thang and I have an Imperial BFG fleet that I really should finish painting... not to mention assemble that Chaos one...); but for this campaign I've left little lee-way for either of those games to be honest. For example, the setting of the campaign is a planet surrounded by dense asteroid fields, making navigation there difficult, so there aren't too many ships in orbit at any time. However, I can see there being scope for BFG battles playing part in the narrative of the campaign, e.g. Imperial fleets engaging Traitor fleets for control of the navigation point from the asteroid field; if Imperials control it, Marines can Drop Pod, etc. If this campaign goes down well enough, I have ideas for other campaigns, larger and wider in scope, where games like BFG and Epic will be equally important as 40k... I'm sorry that there's not a lot of room for them in this campaign, but there may be bigger things to come. Unless at some piont we run a dedicated BFG campaign, of course!

i will like to see some bfg as my fleet can breech 1035 points if you allow me to have a battleship with only 2 cruisers, but i do intend to get more cruisers soon and more sword classes to guard them in a future campaign though Edited by quigglebert, Oct 4 2008, 09:38 AM.

I'm not sure. But I'd guess you'd have to be taking part in the Campaign to be able to be able to take part in the Apocalpyse game? Since there's gonna be some prize support, and there's a closing sign up date? |

Well, particpation in the Apoc game at the end wouldn't affect the prizes, as they're for participation during the campaign; so I can't see why you couldn't take part in the Apoc game at the end. However, strictly from a narrative/fluff point of view, there's a pretty good reason that a Titan probably couldn't feature in it... Spoiler: click to toggle P.S. follow the link in my signature to go to the sign-up thread...
