I was trying to post up an image from our blog album but the forum does not like it :(

Anyone know how I should do it - Gelfin you've managed it, can you advise?

Cheers

HI all

I was trying to post up an image from our blog album but the forum does not like it  :(

Good Morning All,
I use Picassa Web Albums, thanks to Bury Blog for that! On each photo/pic page they give you the option to embed or link the picture.

Like this:
Open BWGForum, open another Web window in Picassa (or your web album). Browse your album and open the picture you want to post.
In Picassa there is a RH sidebar, the option: Link to this picture is available.
Left click on the link, and it opens two text boxes.
Paste link in email
HTML to embed in website

The Top text box contains text that creates a link in your post
The Bottom text box contains text to embed the picture into your post (What I use)

This is the tricky part: <_<
Left click once in the text box for HTML to Embed...
The text will highlight in colour.
Right click once on the text in the highlighted box, a menu bar will open. Left Click on Copy
The Embedding text is now on your Windows Clipboard, ready to Paste.

In Picassa (on this same page) I have a large Comments box under the picture.
You can also open a Notepad document on your PC for this...
Left click in the Comments box (or the Notepad page), a flashing cursor (I-beam) will appear.
Right click in the Comments box (or...) for the drop-down menu,
Left click on Paste.
This will paste the Embedding text that you Copied from your Album.
The line below is from Picassa, and how it is pasted originally:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/garth.pickup/Tutorials/photo#5161330597167366178"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/garth.pickup/R6C61QyEACI/AAAAAAAABG4/VWOz71_UqNc/s288/empchamp1.jpg" /></a>
This may look daunting (stop making Hex-warding signs Capt. ), but just follow my lead...
The HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) code is elementary. The first line with the ahref tag is the Active Hyperlink Reference and its endline /a:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/garth.pickup/Tutorials/photo#5161330597167366178"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/garth.pickup/R6C61QyEACI/AAAAAAAABG4/VWOz71_UqNc/s288/empchamp1.jpg" /></a>
It took me some 'BAD WORDS' but I figured out that the Forum doesn't need all the code that I've highlighted in Red for you. The angled brackets & backslash <.../> are the opening and closing brackets for HTML code, so you must loose them & the IMG SRC tags as well:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/garth.pickup/Tutorials/photo#5161330597167366178"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/garth.pickup/R6C61QyEACI/AAAAAAAABG4/VWOz71_UqNc/s288/empchamp1.jpg" /></a>
What's left in Black is what the Forum needs for a picture posting :D

So...Back to the process.
You've just pasted the entire above code line into either the Comments textbox on your Album, or into a handy Notepad page.
Delete all the code highlighted in Red above, you should be left with this:
http://lh6.google.com/garth.pickup/R6C61QyEACI/AAAAAAAABG4/VWOz71_UqNc/s288/empchamp1.jpg
Web Site Address---------------------------Ref Code---------------------------------------------------Pic Size-----Pic Name.

Highlight the code you're left with and Copy , this will put it back on the Windows Clipboard for you.
Go into your Forum Web-Window and create your new post, if you haven't already.
At the Top of the Text box is a set of Tags. IMG is the tag you left click on.
A thin dialogue box will open with a http:// highlighted in it's text box.
Press Delete on your Keyboard. The bit of code will be gone :o tee hee*
Move your mouse pointer over the textbox (in the thin dialogue box) and
Right Click for the drop-down menu,
Paste your code in to the box and Left Click the Okay button

If you look above, the Pic Size for this one is: s288, I figured out that Picassa uses 4 sizes: 144 / 288 / 400 / 800 pixels. So by changing that portion of the code I can resize the pic on the Forum post instead of having to go through the process again, choosing the larger or smaller size.
I hope this works for you all,

Gelfin, is this irrespective of the original image size, ie Picassa will reduce and enlarge from an image?

What happened to the days when you could pop in a picture from your own PC collection?!
