That's a rumour that has been sourced to one person... tastytaste on Blood of Kittens. I hadn't seen it before that, so I'm REALLY questioning the validity of it.

If it is, so be it. But call me Thomas, I want to see it in official GW ink before I believe in ANY fluff shift so severe.

I don't like the idea of that fluff. Why would play a race that couldn't stand on its own. I also will wait for the ink.

Right my sources have 'confirmed' 40k will be on the street for the 7th June. This would agree with their recent press releases that all releases will be on the first saturday of every month to follow the preceeding white dwarf. However, I do keep hearing about supplements and/or white dwarf only add-ons. That last bit isn't confirmed but it does make me worry there is not going to be 'one book to rule them all' so to speak
No offence dude, but your sources have had a wide spectrum of accuracy. Don't see them doing this myself

It would make sense to increase sales of multiple armies - shifting the focus to 'Team' or 'Allied' games that would be more narratively interesting. given the recent shift in GW focus (removal of tournament support) and their increasing flarfiness, this is probably the reason.

Although, Tau + Smurfs? really?!?

Kinda makes me glad that I have to sell everything.

(Still sad face about that though)

This was my thought exactly. Tau players get enough stick already... I know I would be hacked off if someone said, "you know, your super-technologically advanced, billions-strong civilisation which has gone from stone age tech to a politically stable multi-system stellar empire in the last 10,000 years isn't QUITE tough enough to cut it out here. Here, we'll put these 1000 blue-butt boy scouts in charge of keeping you safe from the BOOOOOOOOOOOOGEYMAN!!!"

Were I the Ethereals, I would not hesitate to tell the High Lords of Terra, Marneus "Golden Boy" Calgar, and everyone else who'd care to listen where EXACTLY they could stick it.

I can definitely see allies coming back, and maybe a bit of fluff-phenagling to accommodate. But nothing as extreme as the Imperium putting the entire Tau empire into a big playpen with the Ultramarines watching over them like a loving nanny. B0110x.

I think every army and warband should be able to stand on its own. I fail to see how Tau would be immune to Chaos, before you chirp with the psychic side fair enough but I doubt they are immune to a trairtors power fist. I think we can all agree on one thing. GW will mess up there fluff once again.

Ok,salt at the ready. :D

Feel no Pain will be a 5+.

Preferred Enemy will be for shooting as well, with re-rolling 1's to wound in shooting and cc.

Cover saves will be 5+ in most cases, with ruins being 4+.

Plastic plaguebearers and furies ( from what i read, people like this for the plastic wings only ).

Allies rules may make a comeback.

Most of those seem reasonable. Hated the the 4+ cover for everything. Really didn't hurt my shooting. Made asaulting the easier way to win.

From what I have seen, there are two sets of "rumoured rules", which people have been cross-pollinating for their rumours.

One comes from TastyTaste on Blood of Kittens, and is essentially WFB 8th remixed with 40K terminology.

The other is that leaked playtest ruleset from January.

Every rumour I've read since then has been a mish-mash of ideas from one of these two sources. I personally think that what we will see is somewhere between the two. One rumour I DO believe, however, comes from Faeit 212; it is a press release which someone called Darnok has come across:

Faeit212

The Rulebook includes exciting features such as dynamic close-combat, flyers, psychic devastation and interactive scenery.

Talk about adding to the hype. This looks like the GW official announcement has leaked out. With this, I would expect the official announcment very soon.

Warhammer 40,000: Rulebook, £45
There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness.
There is only WAR.

In the nightmare future of the 41st Millennium, Mankind teeters upon the brink of destruction. The galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by ravening aliens and threatened from within by Warp-spawned entities and heretical plots. Only the strength of the immortal Emperor of Terra stands between humanity and its annihilation, and in his name, countless warriors and agents do battle against the encroaching darkness. Foremost amongst them stand the Space Marines, the ultimate protectors of Mankind.

Across airless moons, within the depths of dark, twisted hive worlds and even in the immaterial realm of Warp space, battles rage that will shape the future of the galaxy forever.

It is a universe that you can enter today, if you dare. But remember that this is a dark and terrible era, and there is no peace amongst the stars...

The Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook is your essential guide to playing atmospheric battles in the 41st Millennium. It helps you field majestic armies of Citadel miniatures across the war-ravaged battlefields of the far-future, in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill.

With 440 full-colour pages, this hardback Rulebook is packed with rich background and contains all the rules for fighting pulse-pounding tabletop battles. The Rulebook includes exciting features such as dynamic close-combat, flyers, psychic devastation and interactive scenery. As well as jaw-dropping artwork, contained within is a history of the 41st Millennium and a richly detailed guide to the races and weapons of the far-future. It also features a comprehensive hobby section to set you on the path to choosing, collecting and building your own Warhammer 40,000 army of Citadel miniatures.

Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers, £8
One of the many exciting features of Warhammer 40,000 is Psychic devastation, where Psykers wreak havoc on the battlefield. Psychic Powers is the complete set of Psychic cards, which be used in conjunction with Psychic Disciplines. They make a great accessory to your tabletop games.

This set contains 35 large-format cards and come stored in a plastic fan-opening case, which bears the Aquila. There are 7 cards for each Psychic Discipline, each of which is represented by distinct artwork. There is also an instruction leaflet that classifies which powers can be used by the main Psykers in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

extras
There are also "Munitorum Templates" (£12, designed with a metal effect look), "Munitorum Tape Measure" (£10, looking like a Servoskull) and "Munitorum Dice" (£10, while stocks last).

With the Psyker Cards, this puts credence to the WFB-40K camp; but it ALSO takes us a step closer to 2nd Ed. (YAY!)

This may not be anything but Cambridge GW made an interesting Facebook post about "300 lucky gamers" and ascension? Do those cards being handed out with the 23 Vi 2012 on it have any extra significance. This was the post: The time of ascension is upon us people! 300 lucky hobbyists will be chosen from amongst us, so get into store as soon as you can to find out more!
