Current Night Info

The shattered corpse of a dormant city slowly stirs as life seeps back into it. It is a place where seeds of redemption now take root while a timeless struggle for supremacy begins anew. Beneath the rotted shell of the city, under the desperation and despair, lurks untapped power. Multiple factions of Kindred (and others) vie for control, and that power impatiently waits for those ambitious enough to grasp it. Welcome to St. Lawrence by Night

Obfuscate and Other Senses

So the question came up - does Obfuscate deceive other senses aside from sight?

No. Well, mostly no.

Obfuscate does not fool touch or taste, so someone feeling you by touch or (somehow) tasting you is going to get you noticed, most likely.

There are advanced powers that tamper with hearing, so that's possible, but only at high levels.

We already know Obfuscate works on sight.

OK, so what about smell? This might not seem like a big deal, but in the case of sewer-dwelling Nosferatu, rotting Samedi, gross basement-dwelling computer nerd Malkavians, or fresh-from-the-orgy Followers of Set, can they use Obfuscate to cause people not to notice a character's smell?

In short, yes, but there are rules to this:

1. You must have at least 3 dots in Obfuscate. You must have some mastery over the power before you can start making it do more impressive things.

2. You can only use this effect while you are using Obfuscate (the actual power that you use need not be level 3 or higher).

3. In order to activate this effect, you must have Obfuscate active and spend 1 Willpower point. Doing so will cause those affected by your Obfuscate to ignore your scent for the remainder of the scene. If your Obfuscate is broken, this effect ends, as well. If you want to reinstate this effect, you will have to re-activate Obfuscate and spend another Willpower point.

So the answer is yes, but at a cost.
