So it recently came up that we had a vampire biting another vampire to administer the Kiss without intending to feed necessarily. Puncturing the skin, but not trying to take blood. Does said vampire get blood in his mouth? Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: The books don't tell you this stuff. So here's how we're playing it. Vampires don't circulate blood - they're dead. But they can will their blood to move around where they need it, such as to simulate life or to make it bleed out of a cut. But we're also going to say that vampire's don't just leave their blood in their stomachs for safe keeping. Vampires have blood throughout their body in order to keep their muscles working and such. They need the power of their blood present to make their arms, legs, neck, etc. move around. So if someone cuts or bites you, there's at least going to be an oozing of blood if not a flow. In the case of a bite, we're going to say the vampire can suck the blood out (because combat feeding is a thing). But even a passive cut or puncture will at least ooze blood even if the vampire doesn't will blood to flow because there's blood there in the flesh. What happens if you're at 0 blood? We'll say there's still enough trace blood in your flesh to remain mobile and such, but not enough to sustain you or let you use anything that would require the use of blood. At a certain point, I don't want to nickle and dime everything, so just consider this an effective guideline on this topic, and hopefully it's good enough. |
