I don't know whether I was just panicking over the Edward situation and didn't notice an obvious answer, or if it's a mistake, but... Why is it that Alice's powers are affected by Jacob's werewolf-y awesomeness (sorry, I've just always had a soft spot for werewolves.), but Edward can still read his mind? Was that explained, or is this post under the right subject? |

I think it's the same thing as to why Jane, Aro, and Edward cannot affect Bella, only backwards. Or maybe it's just that he's a werewolf; I'm only hazarding a guess. |

I'm leaning more toward the 'he's a werewolf' theory. |

Maybe it's because he stinks to her and it disrupts her thoughts. :) |

Can't she just go far away enough so that she can't smell him and then try to see him? She could see Bella cliff-diving when they were hundereds of miles apart. And she IS more sensitive to non-humans. I think I debunked that one rather sucessfully... Sorry, Dee. :) |

I haven't read New Moon yet, but I did read a New Moon FAQ on stephenie's website and she said something about how some people can't affect Bella with their powers, like Edward for one, because she's really private or something and it won't let her thoughts be read. I can't remember very well. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but just saying! :D |

i think its 'cause it was kind of obvious what jake wanted, so edward didnt have to read his mind. just my opinion though.*shrugs* |

Nuh-uh. Bella is special because she has a private mind: Edward and Aro can't read her, and Jane can't create the illusion of pain. Jake is a normal semi-human (oxymoron?) without any added goodies. I think it's just that he's a werewolf is the reason why Alice can't see him. Or he was thinking too fast for her to get a good view of the future. |

Or, since the werewolves are natural enemies to one another, maybe the effects are nix, null, void---maybe? |
