[size=7]DEADLINE: JUNE 20th[/size] Posted Image It's that time of year again. The time where Noli gets out of school and off her lazy butt to do her job. Several months ago, I asked for suggestions for our next writing contest. Humor was a near-unanimous suggestion, so it will be first on our agenda. There will be more to come as Breaking Dawn's release approaches. So, what exactly classifies as "humor"? Anything that you consider funny. If that means writing the whole thing in netspeak, or poking fun at Jacob's angst, or putting the characters in the most outlandish situations you can think of... Whatever. Anything goes. If poems or songs are your thing, you may also submit those. But no funny images. Just writing. The awards will be mainly based on how much we laughed, not on actual writing quality. Not many rules. I encourage everyone to participate and if you have any questions, just let me know! Rules: 1. The deadline for entries will be June 10th, about two-and-a-half weeks from now. 2. Just send your entries to Lady Noliana via PM or send them to me at chelseagillenh2o@hotmail.com. 3. Please include your username and the title of your entry. 4. Voting will commence on June 20th. Here are the categories. 5. Also, please keep it PG-13. 6. Word count: 500-5,000 words. Robert Pattinson Award - most humorous story "And I Did the Whole Thing Naked" Award - most off-the-wall story Vampire Baseball Award - most original story "It Was Never Going to End" Award - best comedic build-up "Hell Yes" Award - best ending (punchline) Please let us know if you have any more awards suggestions. If you want to enhance your story with illustrations (like in a comic strip)... I think that would be okay. Just make sure it's not super-short. |

I'll try to get something in; I'm just in a serious place writing was--as in, my main character is kind of doom and gloom--so I'm worried that humor will screw me up. |

Just think of humor as a break. Free yourself from the tethers of angst! I think 500-5,000 words pretty much covers it. 500 words is, like, half a page. That'll be the minimum, but if it's a poem or something, it can be shorter. |
