OOC Set prior to and during MD. Dusk. The sun is beginning to set and the night come alive. The sky turns from a serene blue to a pinky red, finally getting darker and darker slowly and purposefully by the minute. Eager fans had already begun piling into the arena waving their banners supporting or taunting the stars of BQWA, some stand out reading “Mr. Spanky for President”, “Dylan would you do me for blow?”….that one will probably get confiscated at security…and the generic cliché…”The guy behind me can’t see”. Arati smiles as she covertly walks towards the stage door. It’s a pleasant evening for a Meltdown; there is an air of excitement and frenzy about the crowd. This one will have good vibes...definitely what you need in the ring to block out any pain or discomfort…knowing that the people who you are performing for appreciate your efforts. This Meltdown was going to be interesting too. Dolly’s return…and ever more affirmation that the EWA was gone for good. For some reason, Arati had missed Dolly. She was strict, but she was there to make a profit as any business person strives to do. She was always fair though….at least to Arati. Dressed in a jersey jogging suit and spaghetti strap top, Arati reaches the door to the stadium and grasps her sports bag to prevent it slipping from her shoulders as she opens the door and ventures in. The cameras follow her and we see the crew running around dealing with any last minute glitches, camera crews following around interviewers and we can hear the noise coming from the crowd already filing into their seats over the background music playing. This was the electricity before the show, the build up of excitement, nerves and energy. This was one of Arati’s favourite parts. Sometimes she’d give anything to be able to go and stand on the stage just to watch the crowd coming in and settling down. Arati: Wonder how long I have before I’m needed…. Blu-tacked to a wall for crew use we can see the running order for the night. Arati skims down it looking for her name…nothing there. She checks again, this time more thoroughly…again, nothing there. Arati: Surely this cannot be right, I must at least be in the Women’s match….I had a memo for everyone to be here. Arati sees the show’s director – a tall, toned man with an ‘army style’ haircut looking agitated, staring at a group of crew members fumbling with some important looking cables. Arati: Excuse me; I wonder if you can help me. Can you please tell me when I am due in the ring tonight? it isn’t on the show’s running order. Director: All wrestlers involved tonight are on that list. If your name’s not on there you aren’t on the show. Arati: Do you know if I have an interview? Director: Sorry no, interviews are on there. Arati: I know, I was just wondering if anything had been missed off. Director: No, not that I’m aware of. They’re usually pretty accurate when booking. Arati: Yes. Just, I had a memo rather than a card sent to me that just requested everyone to be here. Director: Sorry Arati. Looks like you’re not needed…might as well go back to your hotel. Arati: I see…thank you for your help and time. Not needed. Those words sank deep into Arati’s mind. She forces a smile and lugs her heavy bag back to the opposite direction from whence she came. She has a feeling of sheer disappointment…not needed. Avoiding other people’s eyes she leaves the arena without uttering another word. The cold air hits her cheeks as she opens the door. She shivers a little, feeling Goosebumps prickle against her clothing. Having nothing better to do, and needing to think she slumps her bag to the sidewalk and just sits, on a kerb, with her knees brought up close to her chest to preserve heat. Arati: Not needed…I do not understand. We all were supposed to attend this evening. I’m involved too…I got the memo at the hotel, like everyone else. This show is rumoured to be huge, and I’m not a part of that, I’m not needed…what does this mean? Am I not good enough? I hold the belt but I’m not a champion. Is that the answer? Tara should still hold this. I know she’ll be in there already. She’s needed. So is everyone but me. Maybe it’s because I’m not a diva either, I’m just me…and maybe that isn’t what they want. Everyone loves a flirty, sexy diva. What is it they say? Gentlemen have a preference to blondes? I’m none of that, I’m the wrong skin colour, wrong hair colour, my chaatis are humble and I don’t like to wear clothes that don’t fit me properly. Maybe I’m too boring. That has to be it. A big show and I’d only impede things. Maybe I shouldn’t be here…maybe I’m not cut out for this. I’ll never be what they want. I’ll never be blonde and hot. We hear a voice and footsteps approaching. Voice: Hey! You ok? Arati looks up. We can see that she is resisting the urge to upset herself and forcing back the tears. At least she can pretend to be strong, even if her confidence is next to nothing. She turns to see a large familiar man approaching. He has a friendly face. It’s Colossus. Colossus: Are you ok? Arati: Shouldn’t you be inside? Colossus: It’s ok, it’s a while yet before they need me. What are you doing out here? Arati: I’m thinking. That is all. Colossus: Don’t you want to think inside? It’s getting cold out here. Arati: It’s ok. You go in if you’re cold. Can’t wrestle with cold muscles, you could tear something. Colossus: No, I’m not gonna leave you on your own. Arati: How sweet and very chivalrous of you. Colossus: So, what’s up? Arati: I’m just….I….I don’t know. Maybe I’m not cut out for this. My face doesn’t fit, I’m not an athlete, and I panicked when I had to wear a bikini. Colossus: O…k…. Clearly this revelation has taken Colossus by surprise. Maybe he believes he has opened a can of worms far beyond his control. Colossus: You’re only still new. You have already built an amazing career for yourself. You’ve not even been in this business a year…you’re already the women’s champion. Arati: No I’m not. I just hold the belt. Holding a belt doesn’t necessarily make you a champion…just like being Miss USA doesn’t make you the prettiest girl in the country. I'm not right for this...clearly. Maybe I should just pack up my clothes, hand in the key to my hotel room and just drive…Take it all in as experience…some said I’d fail but I disagreed. No one knew where my path would lead…but now I know….go back where I’m known, back in my own very small pond. It’s fine with me… I’m not needed. Colossus: Hey now! Don’t be like that. Arati: I’ve thought about it for a while now. Some girls can fight, some face their trials…some are just meant to smile. The latter is me…I was born to be subservient to my husband and exist for him to enjoy my smiles. That is my purpose…to serve and to smile, to not speak or have a mind. I guess people cannot change Colossus: You’re married? Arati: No…I should have said chosen husband. Arati stands up to leave, Colossus stands with her. Colossus: Wait, where are you going? Arati: Back to the sun, back to my land, back to what I was before. Sorry for letting down everyone. I’m a hopeless case. Take my belt back for me, will you? If you’re ever in New Delhi, give me a call, say “Array Dost”. Thanks for your help, and thank you for treating me decently. Colossus: Arati don’t talk like that. You’re only just starting out here. You’ve been here less than a year. It’s a whole new world, a real culture shock. Everyone goes through this stage, this feeling of wondering whether or not you are good enough. Trust me you are. You have potential and that is what Dolly saw in you. You will be great, I would put money on it that you will one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame. You’re still making a name for yourself…and yourself is what people want. Not some fake Barbie doll with tits and ass. People like genuine people. People like to take someone as they are, not have to work them out. I much prefer a warm, caring, beautiful Diva than a cold clone that looks the same as all the others before her and only is famous for leaving nothing to the imagination. There are very few Divas like you Arati. Arati: You mean Indian? Colossus: No. Genuine, conscientious, caring. That’s why you’re so liked. Arati: If that was the case, why do I get so lonely and feel unwanted sometimes. Colossus: It’s a lonely job. You’re always travelling and people are doing their own thing. Everyone feels like that when they hit the road for the first time. Arati, look, I know you barely know me, and I barely know you. That’s because we move in different circles, have had little to do with each other. But I do know that you have potential. You can’t leave because things have gotten on top of you. You can’t leave because your confidence has taken a few knocks. It’ll grow...don’t worry. Now come on in. You can’t wrestle with cold muscles too. Arati: I’m not wrestling tonight. Colossus: Everyone is. That’s the beauty of this show Arati: Well I’m not….not by choice. They missed me off. Colossus: Oh. Well come in anyway. You’ll be able to warm up and at least be with people. He picks up her bag and throws it over his shoulder with his own. Colossus: Damn this is heavy, what you got in here? Arati: Shoes. Colossus: Well are you coming? You won’t get your shoes back unless you follow me. Arati smiles and gazes at Colossus. Such a nice man, friendly…he didn’t need to do this for her. It was all out of the goodness of his heart. He begins to walk and slowly, she ambles in with him. He opens the door for her and she steps inside once again. The scene fades out. |

Excellent stuff still showing Arati's vulnerable side which is a stark contrast to Dylan. Keep up the good work. |

Very nice. Good work making a very impressive rp out of nothing. This one felt particularly well written, the interaction dialogue was very smooth. You drove the character well here in a believable direction, and linked back to what's happened before. Good stuff. |

If my character was not already married, he would be, to you. Fantastic stuff! I've found that Tara, and now you, have a knack for finding sides of Colossus that I stumble over and bumble. Excellent exchange between the two of them, and a great idea for a promo. You've been a consistently great promo-er since you started, which is tough to say. Keep up the great work.
