Matt Hardy returned to WWE tonight during an angle with MVP at the SmackDown/ECW house show at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. According to a few live reports, MVP retained his United States Heavyweight Championship in a match against Jimmy Wang Yang.

Hardy has been out of action since undergoing emergency appendectomy surgery in November. He was last seen on camera December 29th during an angle on RAW with Randy Orton.

It's about time. It'll be interesting to see if they finally start working him and MVP into a WM24 match this week.

Or if both are just thrown into the MITB ladder match.

No way, SD/ECW has only 2 brand matches so far, if you count Mayweather/Show as one.

Raw has HBK/Flair, WWE Title, Bunnymania.

SD/ECW has WHC Title, Floyd/Show, and.....MVP/Hardy

Then the two interbrand matches. perfect fit.

and then one mor eraw match involving horny

now its obvious that Umaga and Hardy will interfere in the US title match this week, but good to see Hardy back in time for Wrestlemania.

MVP qualified for the WrestleMania XXIV Money in the Bank ladder match at last night’s SmackDown/ECW house show. MVP beat Jamie Noble to become a participant, only two spots remain as Carlito, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Ken Kennedy, and Shelton Benjamin have already qualified

Ok, looks like Matt will be in the mitb match. So Smackdown will get some stars in this and Kane will take the final spot.

So the mitb line up could look like this

Jeff Hardy
Kennedy
Shelton
Jericho
Carlito
MVP
Matt Hardy
Kane

So that means no Elizah Burke, Kofi Kingston & Morrison in the match. Anyway i don't expect to see these 3 guys making it on the WMania card. Can't see the tag straps being defended, looks like another heat battle royal.

Seems like the MVP/Matt clash will take place at Backlash. Hardy returnng from injury and in the mitb match. I wanted to see a singles match between em. Oh well nevermind, still good additions in the mitb match. Should be an awesome match. Great line up so far.

Awful, awful news. MVP vs Matt Hardy was the one match they had that had a lot of buildup to it. It would have been a memorable WrestleMania matchup, imo.

And you would of complained had it happened at Wrestlemania and not given the right amount of time.

It's better to hold the match off until Backlash instead of putting it on a already stacked card where it wouldn't get the time it deserves.

At least if Matt Hardy is in the MITB ladder match they can face off there in a lead up to there match at Backlash.

It's much better this way than too just put all the eggs in one basket so to speak.

You're absolutely right. They should have brought Matt back at latest the Smackdown after No Way Out.

I don't think that's right. Wrestlemania has been cut to eight or nine matches over four hours, whereas Backlash has seven or eight matches over three hours. So time for the match is not really a factor. While Hardy and MVP should be able to further their feud in the money in the bank match, I think it is a wasted opportunity to have a singles match with some meaningful history behind it.

One of the hallmarks of this WM (and many recent WMs) is a lack of build to the feuds. It used to be that planning would begin several months to half a year in advance of WM. Now what do we have? Undertaker became number one contender at NWO, as did Triple H, with Cena joining the match the next night, and Big Show vs Moneyweather. Shawn Michaels vs Flair was thrown together with no build and the MITB bank is random competitors thrown in.

I'm sure some of the matches would be great, but it would nice if some matches with the build of Hardy and MVP were included as singles matches.

(Even) Mo' Money?
After defeating Jamie Noble to qualify for Money in the Bank at a SmackDown live event, United States Champion MVP will make his second WrestleMania appearance since signing one of the most lucrative contracts in sports-entertainment history in 2006. No stranger to money, the Franchise Playa will need to bring his highly touted 'A' game if he wants to bank on a future World Title opportunity. Will MVP outshine an assemblage of WWE's top performers and reach the final rung to World Championship success?

Ok, its been confirmed now on wwe.com. :)
