FUCK YOU! eXponent cowered into the corner of his locker room, trying to escape the punishment that He was dishing out. The Custom Champion had yet to exit the arena, even after 24-hours had expired. Perhaps the maintenance workers failed to notice him while closing up; nobody seemed to notice him as of late. Another loss to another star, this time to Hall of Famer Whacko. Oh, the joy that he would have felt in defeating such an icon. But there wasn’t time for any reflection on that, as right now eXponent was scared for his well-being. You have GOT to be kidding me! You had one shot--one FUCKING shot--and you blew it! Just over one week ago, you told me you were sorry. You cried and you wept and you begged for forgiveness. You told me that you would try harder next time. Well, “next time” came, and you didn’t do what you said you would. eXponent: I’m sorry! No! You already said you were sorry, fool! The first time, it was a fluke. The second time, it was a mistake. By now, you’re simply lying. You’re a bold-faced liar! You’re NOT capable of greatness, yet you are trying to pull it off as if you are! It’s disgusting! It’s despicable! You should be ashamed of yourself! eXponent: I am! I am! Trembling in pain, eXponent looked down at himself and saw bit a shell of what he once was. He say a shriveled-up embarrassment. He saw an ignoramus. He saw a loser. He saw what he had never seen in himself before; he saw a failure. You say that you’re ashamed, but you’ve said it before. What makes it different this time?! eXponent: You have to believe me! Why should I trust you?! You’re scum! You’re nothing! You’re bloody useless! Dude, you’re a true pussy! You’re a fucking bitch! Bloody useless! Dude! Fucking bitch! Pussy! Bloody! Bitch! Pussy! Bloody! Bitch! The words of Charles Everton, Adam Edge, and Maxwell Starbux continued to swirl around his mind at an alarming rate. He threw his head into his heads and let out an ear-piercing scream. Tears began to flow down his face once more. Stop crying! eXponent: I … I … He couldn’t speak; he couldn’t stop crying. Stop it! Is this how you’re going to solve your problem? Is this how you’re going to escape the dilemma of confronting Andrew Chills? eXponent threw his head up and the tears ceased as his mouth dropped wide open and his eyes expanded in shock. He hadn’t even realized that aspect of the situation yet. He was still so concerned with having lost to Whacko, that the terror of recognizing that fiend had yet to cross his mind! After his initial shock, the tears fell heavier even heavier than before. He found himself having a difficult time breathing, but he couldn’t stop the rush of emotion. Oh, great. Isn’t this just grand. I’ll wait for you to finish. He tried to stop his sorrow, but he couldn’t! He could barely even see straight, his eyes were so swollen. eXponent: … No words came. He tried again. eXponent: … Talk. I will not speak until you’ve stopped your temper tantrum. eXponent: … Talk … It helps … It makes me … feel better. Like a child. How fitting. I will not speak to comfort you, as I refuse to give in to your infantile needs. However, lucky for you, I do have matters to discuss. Therefore, I will go on. Make no doubt about it though, this is not to appease you. Anyway, listen up; I have not yet given up hope for you. eXponent looked up, his tears not stopping, but his breathing returning slowly. There is a way, but it requires redemption unlike you have been forced to confront thus far in your life. This is beyond walking in the desert for forty years. This is beyond killing your son on a stone altar. This is beyond dying on a cross. eXponent began to look skeptical, almost scared. You are to look into the heart of Darkness, and you are to return with a gift--a gift to me. You must look Evil in the face and come out with more than what you entered with. eXponent: Wha … What kind of … of evil? What kind of evil? Hah! This is what I’m talking about. You’ve got so much to learn. eXponent: I … I can do it! No, eXponent. You can’t! You can’t do it. eXponent: Let me try! At this point, the tears had dried up, but his face was still quit red and swollen. First things first: you need to prove to me that you’re capable. You need to prove to me that you’re willing and obedient and submissive. eXponent: Anything! Do you know the story of Abraham and Isaac? Or the story of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection? eXponent: To an extent. Fool. In them, one thing was required: the flawless blood of a flawless person. That alone would atone for the shortcomings of Man. You, eXponent, have had many shortcomings, and as such, you require atonement. You require forgiveness from me. eXponent: I am willing! Good. Bring to me a sacrificial lamb, and THEN you may go to the next step. Once you have come to me with the blood of he who is blameless, then you can turn to the true test of immortality. eXponent: A sacrificial lamb? Indeed. A man whose motives are pure and whose actions are just. A man who stands for good in the world, despite that which goes on around him. A man who fights against the bad, for no other reason than that he should. A man you know very well, eXponent. I want the blood of Andy Chills, drawn from the cold dead body of his career. eXponent’s eyes narrowed at the sound of his name. Your match with him at Immortals is not a curse, eXponent. It is a gift. The lamb is being herded directly towards you on the Grandest Stage of ‘Em All. Take him. Beat him. Sacrifice him. And THEN you will have taken the first step to becoming a legend.
