The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. Yokozuna/Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Mr. Fuji & Luna Vachon [WWF Tag Team Championship], WWF Live - Providence (August 12th)
This was pretty fun. Scott Steiner vs. Bam Bam matwork to begin until Bam Bam takes over. They isolate Scott for like 10 minutes, and it gets kind of ridiculous, but then it gets AWESOME again. Brutal stuff from both fat heels, and Scott has some awesome bumps and sells. Rick has a great hot tag while it lasts, and Fuji tries to throw salt, but misses and blinds Bam Bam, allowing Rick to pin him for the win.

WWF Monday Night Raw
August 16th, 1993
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Ted DiBiase vs. 1-2-3 Kid

Razor Ramon calls in to talk about the match and says he talked to the Kid and gave him a few tips for fighting the Rich Mang, and he'll see him at Summerslam mang. Ted puts a pretty great beating on Kid, and he takes it very well as usual. He begins to mount a comeback, but before he can get anything awesome out, IRS runs down and shoves him off the top for a DQ.
**1/2

They both beat on Kid, but then The Steiner Brothers run out for the save and clear Money Inc. out of the ring.

At ringside, they hype up Marty vs. Bastion Booger and Savage says he has a surprise later on.

Match #2: The Headshrinkers w/ Afa vs. Dave Moraldo/Mike Khoury
Not great jobbers for the Shrinkers. You want guys like Barry Hardy, Gill, etc. who will take horrifying bumps to get them over, and these are generic green rookies, not hardcore pro crash test dummies. Still though, it's a Headshrinkers squash, and that is fun. Fatu's epic Flying Splash off the top wins. Wrestling currently lacks killer samoans.
*3/4

Afa yells about wanting a title shot, and Vince McMahon announces a 6 man tag at SummerSlam of Bam Bam Bigelow/Headshrinkers vs. Tatanka/Smoking Gunns. AMAZING heel team, but holy shit, what horrible opponents. WWF 1993 lacks a good secondary face team, which is uneven, since at points they've had Headshrinkers, Beverly Bros., and now Heavenly Bodies as secondary heel teams, and The Quebecers come in pretty soon too. Men on a Mission would have been better so I could laugh at Bam Bam and Mabel throwing their fat at one another. I'm sure The Fantastics weren't doing anything in 1993. Or any year after 1988. Plus, cowboys and indians don't match well.

In the back, Bastion Booger is eating a WWF Ice Cream Sandwich. Not the best product placement.

Marty Jannetty vs. Ludvig Borga is announced for SummerSlam as well.

Match #3: Marty Jannetty vs. Bastion Booger
Booger is probably the worst fat guy in WWF at this time, so this isn't very good. Marty tries, but yeah, no dice. Marty took a few good bumps, and got a rollup to win.
*1/2

Vince McMahon is in the ring, and he introduces Money Inc. for an interview. Ted DiBiase says he hopes Razor Ramon saw him wipe the mat with the 1-2-3 Kid, and he hopes The Steiner Brothers saw it too. Vince asks if either man will even make it to SummerSlam after the cage match at the SummerSlam Spectacular. Ted says EVERYBODY'S got a price, and there's nobody they can't buy, and when the Steiners signed to put those titles up, they were bought and paid for. IRS says the Steiners have more to worry about than they do. Ted says they're great, but the two brothers have a cumulative IQ of 10, and they got lucky the last two times they met.

Match #4: Men on a Mission w/ Oscar vs. Barry Horowitz/Iron Mike Sharpe
This was short, but had too much Mo and not enough Mabel using his firth and negro fat to destroy inferior whites. It had some, but not enough.
3/4*

Match #5: Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Luna Vachon vs. Rich Myers

Myers took some awesome bumps and Bam Bam is willing to kill a man on offense, so this was a great squash. Bam Bam hit his fantastic Diving Headbutt to win. All this show needed was a Steiners squash to have the trifecta of amazing jobber killers.
**

Randy's surprise is apparently the Macho Midget coming out with the Raw sign girls. Fuck everything.

WWF Summerslam Spectacular
August 22nd, 1993
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Yokozuna w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

This goes about how you would expect it, and it's pretty fun for that sort of match. Not great or anything, but really solid match to further get over Yoko as unstoppable. Hacksaw would get progressively more psyched and fight back harder, but Yoko would then cut him off in even more brutal ways, just looking annoyed. Duggan managed to knock Yoko down again, but couldn't lift him or anything else and Yoko killed him with the Bonzai Drop to win.
**1/2

Post-match, Yoko tries to hit another Bonzai Drop on Duggan like in February, but referees come down and pull Duggan out. Gorilla and JR talk about how vicious and angry Yoko's gotten since Luger slammed him on July 4th.

In the back, Vince McMahon is waiting and Jim Cornette greets Yoko and Fuji as they walk through the curtain. Cornette says he's heard people say that Luger woke up a sleeping giant, but he was never asleep, he was always a beast. But now he's a rabid animal and he's ready to chew Lex Luger up and spit him out at Summerslam in 8 days. He tells Luger to remember that he wanted this match, and he has to take the responsibility for what Yokozuna does to him at Summerslam, because it's on his head and they'll take no responsibility for what Yokozuna does to him. <3 Cornette.

A video airs, showing the events leading to Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase.

Match #2: Razor Ramon vs. Blake Beverly
Blake was AWESOME in this. Great slaps early on, and when Razor retaliated, he went nuts with his bumping. Razor was good and all, in his usual "still developing in the ring but enough charisma to pass him through" 1993 kind of stylings, a lot like current Alberto Del Rio but with less understanding of how to sell body parts. Although ADR hasn't been tested in that on TV, so who knows. ANYWAYS, my point was that over the last few years, I've come to appreciate enhancement talent a lot, and Blake largely carries this with great bumps. Blake got hit with the steel buckle that he exposed originally, and Razor hit the Razor's Edge to win. These two would not go on to be 2/3rds of one of the most important wrestling segments ever, that's for sure.
**3/4

FIRST HE DESTROYED A PROUD AMERICAN. THEN HE DESTROYED A TRUE LEGEND, "HULKAMANIA IS DEAD". NOW, ONE PROUD AMERICAN IS OUT TO PUT AN END TO IT. SUMMERSLAM 93: SOMEONE HAS TO STOP HIM~!

A highlight video of the Lex Express airs, showing him hanging out with kids and signing autographs.

A video airs of Jerry Lawler talking to a guy dressed as Elvis, and he treats it like it's Elvis, and it rules. He asks what he thinks of Bret Hart pretending to be the King of wrestling, and Elvis says he hates seeing people impersonate him, so he can't imagine how Jerry Lawler must feel. Lawler says after Summerslam, Bret will have trouble pretending to be a wrestler, let alone pretending to be King.

In the back, Bret Hart cuts a promo. He says Lawler's crossed a line, but he hates it when people try to drag his family in, and he can't even describe how much hatred he has for Jerry Lawler right now. He says SummerSlam won't be pretty or fancy, but it'll be a mutilation. He says he told his parents not to watch what their son does to Jerry Lawler, but they want to be there, and at SummerSlam, his parents would watch as he destroys Jerry Lawler.

Match #3: Tatanka/The Smoking Gunns vs. Barry Horowitz/Brooklyn Brawler/Reno Riggins
This goes 7 minutes, which is about 6:30 too long for the amount of talent in the ring. I mean, there's only so much Barry and Reno can do to carry these guys. Anyways, the faces win.
1/2*

Mean Gene is in the ring and introduces The Undertaker. He says every man must be held accountable, and that day comes for Giant Gonzalez at SummerSlam. He says he doesn't have the urn of Paul Bearer, but he has the power of the dark side and his creatures of the night. He says the R.I.P. match is where he puts his hand into GG's carcass and pulls out every living organ that he has. Nice! He says he will take Giant's soul, and GG comes out with Whippleman. GG says this time Taker won't get up, and Taker wants to fight but Harvey convinces him to leave.

Match #4: Shawn Michaels [c] w/ Diesel vs. Bob Backlund [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
Real disappointing, total house show feeling match between the two where they clearly weren't trying to do anything good. Some stuff happens and Shawn gets a roll up with the tights to retain.
**

In the back, Vince McMahon is with Ludvig Borga. He talks in Finnish about Marty, but Vince wants English and Ludvig mocks Americans for only speaking one language. He says he's not ust fighting Marty in 8 days, but the entire American nation at the same time. He says he's not here for titles, but he wants to destroy Americans and get paid.

Match #5: Marty Jannetty vs. Duane Gill
Pretty good showcase for Marty, and then he hits his shitty fist drop to win.
*1/2

At the CONTROL CENTER~, Mean Gene runs down the SummerSlam card.

Match #6 The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. Money Inc. [WWF Tag Team Championship - Steel Cage Match]
This is escape only, and the door is locked, so both members have to go over the top to win. This is a generally good chaotic cage match, but the rules are confusing. Both IRS and Scott get out at the halfway point to the floor, and then get back in to help. A bit later on, Rick gets out, so both Steiners have gone out over the top, but somehow the match still continues. They do have a cool finish though. Rick is out and both Ted and IRS climb on opposite sides. Rick holds IRS up on his shoulders in an Electric Chair, and Ted gets out on the other side. Scott climbs over and Ted tries to knock Rick down but he holds IRS up long enough for Scott to get over (again) and win. Solid match, but the rules confusion hurt it.

WWF SUMMERSLAM 1993!
August 30th, 1993
Auburn Hills, MI

Earlier tonight, The Lex Express arrived outside the building.

Vince McMahon and Bobby Heenan are the announce team tonight.

Match #1: Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase
This is pretty solid. Ted has good bumps, and Razor looks really good on offense. DiBiase takes over with quality cheating. Nothing amazing or anything, but just solid pro wrestling. Razor still looks afraid to take any kind of big bump, which is pretty frustrating given his push and overness. Anyways, Ted pulls off the turnbuckle pad, but when he tries to slam Razor into it, he counters and slams Ted into the steel. He stumbles out, and Razor hits the Razor's Edge to win.
**3/4

SUMMERSLAM HOTLINE. CALL IT. WE NEED MONEY.

At the Summerslam hotline, The Undertaker and Bret Hart answer questions in kayfabe. A fan from Kentucky asks Taker why he turned on Jake The Snake, since Jake is still a great wrestler, and if he would ever tag with Hogan. Taker pauses to try and figure out how to answer that while staying in character and this is so awkward. Heenan talks over it, so nobody can hear him, which is total pro work by Heenan.

In the crowd, Todd Pettengill interviews Steiner family members but Jim Cornette interrupts to introduce The Heavenly Bodies.

Match #2: The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. The Heavenly Bodies w/ Jim Cornette [WWF Tag Team Championship]
This is great, but not as great as I remember. It's the basic Steiners/Beverly or Headshrinkers format of Steiners cleaning house until cheating takes over. The Bodies have much cooler offense than the Beverlies, but not all of it is hit perfectly, and the same can be said for the Rick Steiner hot tag. Still though, a lot of really really good stuff in this. Del Ray misses the Moonsault and hits Dr. Tom, and Scott hits him with the Frankensteiner, and Rick pins Del Ray to retain.
***

In the back, Shawn Michaels cuts a promo with Diesel behind him. He says tonight settles everything, and the winner of the match tonight will be the greatest IC Champion of all time. He says tonight will settle the score and Rookie Interviewer says Diesel pretty much won the belt back for him, but Shawn says he's the one wearing it, and Diesel says HBK can take care of himself in the ring.

Match #3: Shawn Michaels [c] w/ Diesel vs. Mr. Perfect [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
So disappointing. Good matwork back and forth to begin, and Shawn took over on the back after Diesel distracted Perfect on the floor. His work was basic and solid, but then Perfect totally ignored the back completely. So frustrating. So they fought on the floor and Perfect also fought Diesel. Perfect rolled Shawn in, but then Diesel threw him into the post and Shawn won by count out.
**3/4

Post-match, Perfect attacks Shawn in the ring, but Diesel hits him with his KO Punch to the back of the head. Perfect slowly gets up as they leave, and runs off to the back in persuit.

Match #4: Irwin R. Schyster vs. 1-2-3 Kid
This is fun, but not great. Kid takes a great beating, but Irwin is more generally solid than a guy who's going to beat the shit out of a rookie like Razor or DiBiase might. Kid had a really good comeback with a ton of cradle and stuff, but IRS hit him with the Write Off Flying Lariat to win.
**1/2

At ringside, Todd Pettengill is with Bruce & Owen Hart, in the place of Stu and Helen. Bruce says Stu was in the hospital for knee surgery and couldn't make it, but they're sick of Jerry Lawler, and can't wait to see Bret make him pay.

Bret Hart comes out for the match, but then Jerry Lawler comes out on crutches and with his knee taped. Todd asks him what's going on, and Lawler says this was supposed to be the biggest night of his career and he hates the entire Hart family, and would love to get his hands on Bret, but his knee is hurt because of a car accident due to horrible Detroit cars. He says he's not allowed to wrestle tonight, but he found a replacement to beat Bret up almost as bad as he would have...

HIS COURT JESTER, DOINK THE CLOOOOOOOOOOWN FUCK YEAH!

Match #5: Bret Hart vs. Doink The Clown w/ Jerry Lawler
This is really fun for 7 or 8 minutes. Bret beats the shit out of Doink in anger to begin, and Doink takes over with cheating. It's the usual really fun Doink control segment with a lot of really good looking strikes, and he works the leg. Bret pretty much ignores it to makes his comeback, and he hits the Russian Leg Sweep and Flying Elbow, before putting on the Sharpshooter. This had Doink look pretty easy to beat in comparison with how well he was booked all year, BUT LAWLER SLIDES IN AND HITS BRET WITH THE CRUTCH FOR THE DQ! HIS KNEE IS FINE AW SON OF A BITCH! Good stuff, but not long enough and the lack of selling from Bret was disappointing.
**3/4

Lawler keeps hitting Bret with the crutch, and helps Doink out of the ring. They walks up the ramp as referees tend to Bret, but Jack Tunney comes out and orders Lawler back to the ring! Bret goes out, and referees try to hold him back. Jack Tunney talks to Finkel and he orders Lawler vs. Bret right now!

Match #6: Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler
HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK THIS RUUUUUUUUULED! Totally wild brawl with amazing punches, HAAAAAATE~!, crutch related violence, low blows, etc. Just a totally chaotic wild brawl where neither man really gives a shit about the rules or winning or anything because of how much hate there is. Way more Memphis than WWF. Bret puts on the Sharpshooter to win. This was only 6:32, but it was AMAZING for all of that. But clearly, Yoko/Lex needed 17 goddamn minutes.
***1/4

Bret refuses to break the hold and refs come out. He still refuses to let go so more refs and agents come out, and Bret finally does so. However, due to his refusal to let go, the referee has reversed the decision, so Lawler wins by DQ! Bret Hart argues with the ref, and then runs back over to punch at Lawler some more! Referees pull him off again, and I am ready for this feud to continue forever.

SUMMERSLAM HOTLINE. SHAWN MICHAELS IS ON IT NOW. CALL. GIVE US MONEY SO WE CAN BLOW IT ON RIDICULOUS SHIT.

Match #7: Ludvig Borga vs. Marty Jannetty
Borga is pretty awesome. A lot of rib punches and knees, and a totally brutal looking move where he pops Marty up into the air, and punches him in the gut on the way down. Marty's desperate fighting for his life was good and he took great bumps on Ludvig's clotheslines. Borga gets a Torture Rack to win.
**1/2

A hype video airs for Survivor Series on Thanksgiving Eve. Clips air of the Quebecers in action, so they've debuted on the B-shows by now, which is great. At ringside, Vince hypes up that it's the only PPV around that time of year worth seeing, although Flair/Vader probably destroys everything on SurSer 1993.

Match #8: The Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez w/ Harvey Whippleman [Rest in Peace Match]
In this match, there MUST be a decisive winner, which makes sense as pretty much everyone else who has to watch this is the loser. Also, Harvey has the urn with him. This is not good, but yeah, you knew that. Paul Bearer makes his return to come out. He lays out Harvey and reclaims the urn, and Taker wins with a Flying Clothesline. At least this sucked less than Mania IX.
1/2*

Post-match, Gonzalez yells at Harvey for losing the urn and lays him out with a Chokeslam.

In the back, Cornette cuts a promo with Yokozuna and Mr. Fuji in the back. He says the ref earlier tonight was from Detroit and it wasn't fair, but he's here now to talk about Yokozuna and Mr. Fuji. He says Yokozuna has no pity, fear, or compassion for his fellow man, and he intends to rip Luger limb from limb. He tells Luger to draw all the strength he can from the common people around America, and he'll STILL come up short. BONZAI!

Match #9: Tatanka/The Smoking Gunns vs. Bam Bam Bigelow/The Headshrinkers w/ Afa & Luna Vachon
This is not as bad as I thought. The Gunns are more inoffensive and bland than actually bad in this, and the heel team is all amazing. Tatanka doing his war dance comeback and trying to hype himself up by ignoring pain but then Bam Bam hitting an Inoki-style Enzuiguri and spitting on Tatanka was AMAZING. ALSO, A MOTHERFUCKING TRIPLE HEADBUTT! They tried a Three Post Massacre of Diving Headbutts, but Tatanka moved, robbing everyone of something so great. Tatanka then schoolboy'd Samu to win. Not bad at all.
**1/2

In the parking lot, the Lex Express tour bus driver is interviewed, and he says Lex is such a genuine and likable person. He says there's no question that Lex Luger is winning the WWF Title tonight.

In the crowd, Todd Pettengill talks about the patriotisim in the crowd tonight etc etc etc.

Before the main event, some foreigner sings the Japanese national anthem, and Aaron Neville sings the US national anthem.

Match #10: Yokozuna [c] w/ Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette vs. Lex Luger [WWF Championship]
This is solid, if WAY too long at 17 minutes. No need to go that long. And Luger's punches looked like total dogshit. Otherwise, this was totally acceptable with a lot of great Yoko offense and Luger clotheslines and forearms. Vince totally overselling the amount of noise the crowd was making for Luger was pretty hilarious in a desperate and sad way. Great stuff included Yoko splashing Lex against the post, Yoko's suplexes, and Luger with a badass Northern Lariat. Luger hit the slam, took out Fuji, and hit a great Running Forearm to knock Yoko out to the floor. He was KO'd, so Luger wins by count out and Yoko is still champion.
**1/2

Luger celebrates as Vince puts over him doing the impossible, which is technically true, since Yoko's never been KO'd. Randy Savage, Tatanka, and The Steiners run out to celebrate, and Savage gets a US flag. The Steiners parade Luger around on their shoulders and he waves the flag around. Red, white, and blue confetti and balloons begin to fall down from the ceiling, and this is all pretty ridiculous. You're celebrating a win that is completely meaningless, given that the evil foreigner still has the WWF Title and due to the contract, you legally cannot get a rematch no matter what.

Congratulations on doing a half-assed job.

The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. The Headshrinkers w/ Afa [WWF Tag Team Championship], WWF Bloopers, Bleeps, & Bodyslams (August 31st)
Even better than Mania! Awesome Steiners power offense, brutal Headshrinkers cutoffs, etc. Basically, everything that the Mania IX match was great at, this did even better, along with changing it up so it was fresh. This also went longer, so they had more time to do a lot of super cool shit. Rick Steiner's hot tag was pretty awesome, and he stupidly tried to headbutt both Samoans at once. They hit a Double Headbutt, the Double Reverse STO, and had him set for Fatu's Splash, but Scott crotched Fatu on the top. Samu turned around to knock Scott to the floor, but then Rick rolled up Samu to win.
***1/2

There's no Raw for September 6th, but on the b-shows, they announced Steiners vs. Quebecers for the tag titles on 9/13 Raw.

WWF Monday Night Raw
September 13th, 1993
New York, NY

At ringside, they announce that Steiners/Quebecers for the belts tonight will be under Quebec Province Rules, which are:

1. Title can change hands by DQ
2. Title can change hands by count out
3. Piledrivers are illegal
4. Jumping off the top rope is illegal
5. Throwing an opponent over the top rope is illegal

And it happens right now!

WE'RE NOT THE MOUNTIES!

Match #1: The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. The Quebecers [WWF Tag Team Championship - Quebec Province Rules]
THIS RULED! Good Steiners power display to start, and then MOTHERFUCKING PCO GOT IN AND HIT AN AWESOME FLYING CLOTHESLINE! So yeah, he ruled in this. Great throat thrusts, punches, big man offense, etc. The Steiners have to keep dealing with the rules, and it throws them off a number of times. During the match, Johnny Polo makes his way to ringside in a Montreal jersey and with a hockey stick, and he stands in the Quebecers' corner. The Quebecers began breaking out a ton of awesome double teams using PCO's size, and Rick Steiner got the big hot tag. Polo threw the hockey stick to Jacques but when he tried to use it, Scott blocked, and the ref turned to see Scott hitting Jacques, AND HE CALLED A DQ! DUE TO THE RULES, THE QUEBECERS WIN THE TITLES FUCK YEAH! I am ready for this match at least 15 more times.
***

Polo, PCO, and Jacques leave with the belts, and The Steiners are in shock.

Match #2: Mr. Perfect vs. Tony DeVito
PERFECT CARNAGE! Perfect really beat the fuck out of DeVito with chops and knees to the face, so this was fun for the short time it lasted. This crowd is pretty atrocious though, inexplicably chanting "PERFECT SUCKS!" and "WE WANT SHAWN!" at various points. Perfect got the Perfect Plex to win.
*3/4

Footage is shown from after SummerSlam. The babyfaces were with Luger in the locker room, and Ludvig Borga came up. He said he's not impressed with Luger or his friends or America. He says if he ever steps in the ring with Ludvig Borga, he would crush Luger and make him crumble just like America is crumbling. He says Lex represents the backbone of America, and if he gets in the ring with him, he'll break it.

Match #3: Razor Ramon vs. The Executioner
During this match, Bobby Heenan is upset that Conan O'Brien is still on the air. Executioner takes some awesome bumps and Razor wins with the Razor's Edge.
*1/2

Vince McMahon is in the ring on the mic, and introduces the NEW Tag Team Champions The Quebecers, along with Johnny Polo. WE'RE NOT THE MOUNTIES! WE'RE HANDSOME, WE'RE BRAVE, WE'RE STRONG! Vince says this is a shock, but Polo says this is no shock, because The Quebecers are the best team in wrestling. Jacques says they've made history as the first French Canadians to win these titles. VIVA LA QUEBECERS! Vince asks about a rematch with the Steiners, and the three rudos huddle. Polo says if one of the Steiners can beat one of the Quebecers then they can have a title shot. Vince asks about having it on Raw, and Polo refuses, but The Steiners come out! Referees keep them away from the ring, and Polo agrees to have the match next week now. PCO taunts the Steiners with the belts, and Polo says Pierre will represent their team. Cum.

Match #4: Doink The Clown vs. Rich Myers
Doink is hugely over with the crowd, and Doink randomly does a ton of Suplexes in this. He breaks out his great Side Belly to Belly, and then also KIIIIILLS Myers with an amazing German Suplex. They get Crush on the phone, and he says he's going to come back bigger and stronger. Savage wishes him luck in his recovery, and Crush just hangs up hahahahahah. Doink wins with the Whoopee Cushion.
*3/4

Post-match, Doink gets a pail of water and teases throwing it at the ringside fans. Heenan gets up and tries to get him to throw it at Savage, but instead, Doink turns and throws the water on Heenan! I really don't want Doink to ever turn face :(

WWF Monday Night Raw
September 20th, 1993
New York, NY

Match #1: Scott Steiner vs. Quebecer Pierre w/ Johnny Polo

Steiner begins by doing stuff that was illegal last week like coming off the top and throwing PCO over the top to the floor. This is not the amazing slugfest it could be, but more of Scott abusing Pierre, which is still fun. Polo tries to use the hockey stick on the floor, but Scott gets it and runs them off. They come back with Jacques, and PCO takes over with cheating. Rick also comes out to even it up. This went a bit too long, and Steiner hit the Frankensteiner to win.
**3/4

Match #2: Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Luna Vachon vs. Laverne Magille

Awesome jobber name by this black in a shiny red singlet. They have Crush on the phone during this, but again lose connection when Savage tries to talk to him and he says he's not going to speak to Savage, nor will he ever speak to him, so that's weird. Bam Bam destroys a jobber, and it is good fun. This went too long before Bam Bam eventually won with his EPIC Back Senton.
*1/2

They show footage from last week of Doink throwing water on Heenan.

In the ring, Vince McMahon brings out Bret Hart to the ring for an interview. Vince talks about all Jerry Lawler did to Bret and the Hart family before Summerslam, and what Lawler tried to do at Summerslam, etc. Bret says he could care less about a crown or getting his hand raised when compared to his family honor, so he has no regrets about Summerslam besides the fact that he didn't hold the Sharpshooter on longer. He says sooner or later Lawler will have to face him, and after he gets through with him, he won't have a head to wear that crown on.

Match #3: Mr. Perfect vs. Mike Bell
Perfect has a new squash format where he lets the jobber get in initial offense to begin, and then they get really cocky, so he beats the shit out of them. It's pretty great. Perfect wins with a Perfect Plex.
**

A pretaped promo from Ludvig Borga airs. He's in front of a shitty river and says this "land of milk and honey" is full of pollution and garbage. He says this was a great river before Americans began cleaning their houses and were too lazy so they threw their trash into nature. He says if Luger stands up for all this, he's garbage too. I love Ludvig Borga.

Match #4: Irwin R. Schyster vs. PJ Walker
As IRS abuses this guy in a just incredible fashion, Razor Ramon walks out. IRS is distracted, AND WALKER ROLLS UP IRS FOR THE UPSET!
*1/4

Referees have to hold apart IRS and Razor post-match.

In the back, Bobby Heenan is with Johnny Polo and The Quebecers. He asks them about a rematch with the Steiners next week, and Polo states categorically that they don't fear the Steiners. He says there's a lot of other teams out there though, like Headshinkers, Gunns, M.O.M., Well Dunn. So, no, they will not give the Steiners a shot, but will give a shot to a deserving team!

Shawn Michaels [c] w/ Diesel vs. Razor Ramon [WWF Intercontinental Championship], WWF WrestleFest 94 (September 1st)
I figured this would be got but flawed, but this turned out to be really good with only a few minor flaws. Really good chemistry between the two 98% of the time, with some really great spots. Shawn bumped around like a madman again, and made Razor's offense all look really really great. Shawn tried to bail on the match, but fucking Hebner randomly decided the belt can change hands that way, so Shawn had to come back. Razor eventually hit the Razor's Edge, but Diesel pulled Shawn out of the ring and the ref called a DQ.

WWF Champion: Yokozuna, Since 6/13/1993
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Shawn Michaels, Since 6/6/1993 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Tag Team Champions: The Quebecers, Since 9/13/1993

WWF Monday Night Raw
September 27th, 1993
New Haven, CT

This is the first ever Raw outside of New York.

In his office, WWF President Jack Tunney announces that due to his refusal to appear for a number of title matches or contractual obligations, Shawn Michaels has been suspended and thus stripped of the WWF Intercontinental Championship. He announces a 20 man battle royal next week on Raw with the final 2 men to face each other the next week to determine who the new IC Champion will be.

At ringside, they hype up the Quebecers defending the belts, along with Jimmy Snuka returning to action.

Match #1: Tatanka vs. Rick Martel
Vince claims this is a first time match despite them feuding for a good amount of time in late 1992. Tatanka is still pretty mediocre, but Martel looked good in this. Good bumping, solid looking on offense, etc. I'd love to see what he can do against an actual good wrestler with 10 minutes like this got. They fought to the floor and kept brawling, so both men were counted out.
**

In the control center, Rookie Announcer talks about the battle royal and announces who's in it: IRS, Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Giant Gonzalez, Mr. Perfect, Owen Hart, Rick Martel, Jimmy Snuka, Bob Backlund, Quebecer Pierre, Quebecer Jacques, Razor Ramon, Mabel, Diesel, MVP (a dude in a baseball uniform and shitty facepaint), 1-2-3 Kid, Bam Bam Bigelow, Marty Jannetty, Tatanka, and Bastion Booger.

Match #2: Ludvig Borga vs. Phil Apollo
Not as brutal as Ludvig/Marty, but Ludvig was still pretty brutal with his body punches and knees. Borga wins with the Torture Rack.
*1/4

Match #3: Jimmy Snuka vs. Paul Van Dale

Snuka's a legend and all that, but this is 1993, and he fucking sucks. Crush is on the phone and is upset about not being in the battle royal, and Heenan stirs it up by asking why Savage is in it and not him. Crush says that's exactly what he's been talking about and Savage says if he has something to say, to say it now since he won't pick up his phone, and Heenan implies Savage pulled politics. Savage tells him to talk to him, and Crush hangs up. But yeah, Snuka wins. Bad match.
1/2*

Footage airs from last week of Razor causing IRS to lose to PJ Walker.

IRS is standing by in his office, and he says nobody causes IRS to lose a match up, and Razor Ramon has a nice audit coming at him. Vince talks about how they're both in the battle royal, and IRS says it's a bonus that he gets a piece of Razor Ramon and he gets to be one of the two left at the end so he can win the Intercontinental Title.

The Quebecers and Johnny Polo come out and we go to break.

Coming back, Heenan is interviewing Barry Horowitz, and he says his usual partner Reno Riggins is home sick with the flu. He says he'd like to pick a substitute and Polo & the Quebecers have a conference, but say it depends. He says it's the 1-2-3 Kid, and they all laugh. Heenan reminds them what Kid's done on Raw, but Polo laughs and says to bring him on.

Match #4: The Quebecers [c] w/ Johnny Polo vs. 1-2-3 Kid/Barry Horowitz [WWF Tag Team Championship]
This RULES! Kid is on his game as usual, and Barry does his absolute best, which is actually pretty alright. Kid vs. PCO is AMAZING. Kid will die on bumps and shit, and PCO is not afraid to kill people. JOBBER DROPKICK OFFENSE! Kid totally KO'd Jacques with a kick to the head, and he was stretchered out on the floor after everyone checked on him, BUT THE REFEREE SAID THE MATCH MUST CONTINUE! PCO beat the fuck out of both of them now, trying to prove a point, but Kid made a great comeback with kicks. PCO DODGED A SPINNING WHEEL KICK AND KID FLEW OVER THE TOP TO THE FLOOR HOLY SHIT! Polo rolled him in, and PCO slowly covered to retain. So much fun.
**3/4

After the break, Razor Ramon comes out to talk to Vince at ringside. He asks him about IRS trying to single him out next week in the battle royal. Razor says that to answer McMang's question, if Tax Mang wants to find him, The Bad Guys isn't hard to find. Just look for the guy who's 6'7'' and more handsome than 10 movie stars.

Bret Hart vs. Blake Beverly, WWF Superstars (September 18th)
This gets 5 minutes, and is super basic and awesome. Blake has great bumping, and Bret Hart is Bret Hart. Blake is good on offense, and they have an AMAZING transition. Blake tries to bring Bret in off the apron "the hard way", BUT BRET REVERSES AND BLAKE TAKES A CRAZY BUMP FLAT ON HIS BACK TO THE FLOOR SHIT! Bret fights back on the floor and in the ring, and gets the Sharpshooter to win.

Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler, WWF Live - Portland, ME (September 29th)
This was taped for a Best of Bret Hart tape in 1994, so yay! Not the amazing brawl that SummerSlam was, but more based on Lawler being a cheating piece of shit chickenshit heel. He bumps around really well, but uses a foreign object to take over. A lot of great Lawler punches, and he exclusively uses cheating and illegal closed fists on Bret when he's in control. Bret's solid at bumping as usual, and he gets on the mic to antagonize the crowd as he chokes Bret with his other arm. Bret made a comeback, but Lawler hit Bret with his crown when the ref wasn't looking and got a pin with his feet on the ropes. Another ref came down though to tell him, and the match was restarted! Bret cleaned house after the restart and won with an inside cradle.

Unfortunately, the Raw file for 10/4 is not present. Which is a shame as there's a Heavenly Bodies squash and the battle royal had good people in it. Here's what happened:

Razor Ramon and Rick Martel co-won a 20-man battle royal by last eliminating WWF Tag Team Champions Jacques & Pierre; order of elimination: Giant Gonzalez by Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Marty Jannetty, Diesel, Bastion Booger, and the 1-2-3 Kid (0:30); Mabel by Diesel (5:44); IRS by Razor (6:15); the Kid by Booger (6:47); Diesel by Mr. Perfect (8:09); Jimmy Snuka by Martel via a backdrop; Perfect by Bam Bam Bigelow; Jannetty by Bomb via a backdrop; Tatanka was eliminated when Bigelow pulled down the top rope as Tatanka attempted a crossbody; Booger by Savage; Bigelow by Razor via a clothesline; MVP by Owen Hart via a dropkick; Owen by Jacques; Bomb by Savage via an overhead throw; Savage by Martel, Jacques & Pierre; Jacques by Pierre after Razor moved and Pierre accidentally hit a clothesline on his partner; Pierre by Razor; pre-match stipulations stated the two co-winners would compete the following week for the vacant WWF IC title; after the bout, Razor and Martel were held apart by officials (MVP's debut) (Monday Night Raw: Prime Cuts)

The Heavenly Bodies defeated Mark Taylor & Scott Thomas

Doink the Clown pinned Corey Student with the Cannonball; after the bout, Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon came ringside but were held back by officials, though Bigelow did destroy Doink's red toy wagon (The Best of Raw: Seasons 1 & 2)

WWF Champion: Yokozuna, Since 6/13/1993 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Vacant, Since 9/27/1993
WWF Tag Team Champions: The Quebecers, Since 9/13/1993

WWF Monday Night Raw
October 11th, 1993
New Haven, CT

Match #1: Razor Ramon vs. Rick Martel [WWF Intercontinental Championship]

Pretty awesome. Good opening to establish that it's tough new-ish babyface vs. cheating veteran heel. Martel works the back and it's really really good. Razor kind of sells it, or at least doesn't completely ignore it, and they have a number of great nearfalls. Razor catches Martel with a great knee lift and hits the Razor's Edge to win the vacant title. They packed a lot of stuff into 10 minutes, great work by Martel in leading this.
***

Match #2: The Headshrinkers w/ Afa vs. Sid Curtis/Tommy Morrison

Not as brutal as past squashes due to the WWF being stupid and hiring jobbers who fear horrible injury. The Headshrinkers still ruled though, and Fatu's amazing Flying Splash got the win.
*3/4

Match #3: Owen Hart vs. Scott King

Pretty solid showcase for Owen, and he wins with a Bridging Northern Lights Suplex.
*3/4

Vince McMahon is in the ring, and he brings out Ludvig Borga for an interview. The crowd chants "USA!" a lot, and Borga says that in his country, that stands for "U Stink A lot". Classic. He accuses the crowd of all being illiterate and stupid and says he has no idea why Lex Luger stands up for all of them. Vince says if not for Luger not being allowed a rematch, Luger could be WWF Champion right now. Borga says Lex had his chance and he lost, and he's a loser like all Americans. Lex Luger comes down to the ring, and gets in Ludvig's face. Lex says he can say all he wants about him, because he can take it, but he speaks for everyone here when he says he's sick and tired of Ludvig spewing this anti-American garbage out of his mouth. Luger says he's going to learn respect in the USA and the WWF, but Borga says that in his country, you have to earn respect. Luger says there's an old saying in America: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT~ and Luger pulls his shirt off and says he'll help him leave right now. Borga calls Luger a typical hotheaded American and says they fight when he decides, and Borga leaves.

Match #4: Adam Bomb w/ Harvey Whippleman vs. Ross Greenberg
Adam Bomb traded down big time in managers from Polo to Harvey. Adam Bomb is still not good really, despite a decent look, and wins with the Powerbomb.
1/2*

At ringside, Vince announces that next week will have a Savage/Crush Summit, where they're supposed to talk out their issues. Savage is optimistic that he can work things out with his friend and predicts it will end peacefully.

Match #5: The Rock n' Roll Express vs. Duane Gill/Barry Hardy
RNRX in a WWF ring is soooooooooooooo weird. And it's late 1993, so this is full on wrestling in highschool gyms aged RNRX. They're really fucking ugly, balding, and increasingly out of shape, which is pretty funny. Robert Gibson especially looks awful. They can still go in the ring kind of, but they look amazingly strung out. But yeah, the RNRX looked really good in this. The Double Dropkick ends it.

Firefox ate my review, unfortunately:

The Steiner Brothers vs. PJ Walker/Tony DeVito - **

Irwin R. Schyster vs. Scott Taylor - 1/2*

J E DOUBLE F J A DOUBLE R E DOUBLE T DEBUT VIGNETTE - ************

Tatanka vs. Iron Mike Sharpe - 3/4*

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Dennis Diamond - *1/2

This is where I had left off, so let's continue:

Bobby Heenan is in the ring, and he brings out the returning Crush, BUT CRUSH COMES OUT WITH MR. FUJI OH MY GOOOOOOD NO! He even has a goatee, so you know he's evil now. Heenan asks him what it's all about, and Crush says Savage was once his best friend and Savage's word was gold, but Savage couldn't handle it when Crush's skills had surpassed his. He says thanks to the advice of Bobby Heenan and Mr. Fuji, he's seen the light. He says when Savage told him to try and fight Yokozuna, he said he'd have his back, but asks where Savage was. He was six feet away as Crush got hit with four Bonzai Drops before Savage finally pulled him out. He says Savage wanted him out of the WWF, and Mr. Fuji showed him the light. He says he came out here to warn Savage to stay out of his life, his business, and his life. Randy Savage gets in the ring now, and gets on the mic. He says he's making a big mistake with Fuji and Heenan, and he's made enough to know. He says they can go talk in private and talk it out and offers his hand, but Crush refuses. Savage offers again and Heenan tries to talk to Crush, but he shoves him back. Crush finally shakes his hand and they leave together, BUT CRUSH CLOTHESLINES SAVAGE ON THE FLOOR! He beats him up, and drops him throat-first on the guardrail! Yokozuna and Jim Cornette come out, and both Yoko and Crush bow to Fuji! They bring him inside where Crush keeps up the attack, and Yokozuna hits Savage with a Bonzai Drop! Awesome angle that would rule even more if it didn't lead to more Crush matches.

Random clips from Superstars on 10/23 are on this file, since it's a 24/7 rip. Razor Ramon has just beaten a jobber, and IRS, Martel, Diesel, and Adam Bomb surround the ring as Vince randomly says that's the team that will fight Razor's team at Survivor Series. This brings out the rest of Razor's team in 1-2-3 Kid, Marty Jannetty, and Mr. Perfect, which rules.

Yokozuna w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Mr. Perfect, WWF Wrestlefest 94 (October 19th)
This is the last WWF match Perfect wrestled, although on the 10/18 Raw tapings, he wrestled a match that would air on the 11/1 Raw. And this is really really great for 7 minutes, with great work by both men. Perfect doing all his really athletic stuff to confuse and rattle Yoko early on was amazing, and Yoko's selling and bumping ruled as usual. He eventually took over, which led to some great Perfect bumps. Perfect makes a great comeback, but Fuji holds his leg in the corner and Yoko hits a big corner splash followed by the Bonzai Drop to win.

Shawn Michaels w/ Diesel vs. Marty Jannetty [Steel Cage Match], WWF Bloopers, Bleeps, & Bodyslams (August 17th)
This is pretty great as a chaotic hate-filled cage match. A lot of really brutal stuff and great bumps from both men, but this kind of a match really would have benefited from some blood. Better than their other two 1993 matches, but not on the level of their May 17th miracle match. I don't really know what else to write about this pairing at this point. There's no armwork to ignore, so this was good, with big bumps. Diesel knocked Marty off the top of the cage and fought Marty, allowing Shawn to escape through the door.

Marty Jannetty vs. 1-2-3 Kid, WWF All American Wrestling (September 12th)
This is a shittier version of that really good Rey Mysterio vs. Evan Bourne match on Raw in the fall of 2008. Which isn't anything against this match, but I now measure all veteran high flyer vs. rookie high flyer matches against that. They have some good spots and do a good job playing up that Kid doesn't have the experience, so he has to go totally nuts in terms of his offense. And it works until he misses a Tope Suicida in a brutal bump, and Marty wins by countout.
