TONIGHT: THE BEAT THE CLOCK CHALLENGE!

CM Punk and Luke Gallows come out for the opener and Punk gets on the mic. He talks about New Years Resolutions and how most people have already broken them, especially those who wanted to stop drinking. He says he doesn't need to make resolutions because he's already the best he can be. He says he can save people and he'll save a member of the audience next week, But right now, he leads a pledge. PUT YOUR HAND ON THE SCREEN AND FEEL STRAIGHTEDGE FLOW THROUGH YOU! He says he'll do this every week until people he realize he's not just a minor threat (ftw) and the youth of the world will follow his example as one Straight Edge Society.

Match #1: CM Punk w/ Luke Gallows vs. Matt Hardy [Beat The Clock Challenge]
Punk tries to carry Matt for 7 minutes. Matt can't do anything right apart from his punches at this point, but Punk bumps around well. His control seg was also good again. Matt's comeback is pretty awful as he has no fire and is sluggish. Punk wins clean with the GTS.
**1/4

Punk's time is 7:20. Post-match, Gallows hits Matt with the 12th Step.

Match #2: Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler [Beat The Clock Challenge]
Really good Ziggler showing, despite not a great match. He actually had some good matwork with Kane in the first minute or so. Then he had his usual amazing bumping and his offense looked the best it has since the Rey matches. This is probably a sign of vast improvement, since Kane is no Rey Mysterio in terms of making people look great. Kane is Kane as usual. 7:20 expired when Dolph had a Sleeper on, so they're both out as it's a draw.
**1/2

Post-match, Ziggler hits the PEACE ZIG!

RAW REBOUND! BRET HART THIS MONDAY!

Match #3: The Great Khali vs. The Carolina Panther
Khali wins in 20 seconds.
45/poop

Match #4: Drew McIntyre [c] vs. John Morrison [WWE Intercontinental Championship]

Their shortest match yet at under 5 minutes, and their best. Drew is starting to get this Finlay-ish way about his matches. Not that he's even 100x as good as Fit motherfucking Finlay, but the way his transitions to offense always consist of him using the ring as a weapon are quite Finlayesque in nature. He hurts JoMo's ankle and Morrison actually sells really well. Drew ends up shoving Morrison into the ref from behind and then Morrison is DQ'd.
**3/4

They keep fighting and get pulled apart on the ramp.

LayCool comes out to sit ringside for the next match. Michelle has a shirt saying "PIGGY JAMES LOVES FOOD" and Layla has one saying "WE LOVE THE GLAMAZON"

Match #5: Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix
This is about a minute long. Michelle accidentally kicks Beth and Mickie rolls her up to win.
1/2*

They beat down Mickie post-match, until Beth Phoenix runs them off. She helps Mickie up and then hits her with the Glam Slam.

Before his match, Chris Jericho gets on the mic. He says he's bigger than this show, the fans, and the entire WWE. He says JeriShow will regain the tag titles this Monday on Raw and then he will go on to beat The Undertaker at the Rumble for the World Heavyweight Title, and he'll hold every title in the WWE.

Match #6: Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho [Beat The Clock Challenge]
They only get 7 minutes, so this doesn't touch their 2009 series, but it is good, and better than their last one-off match on SD in the fall. Rey is still awesome and carries Jericho, who as you will recall, stopped caring in the last quarter of 2009. Lots of awesome Rey bumps. They broke out some new counters and spots too. Rey gets a cradle to win.
**3/4

Rey's time is 7:19! He then stays at ringside.

Match #7: Batista vs. R-Truth [Beat The Clock Challenge]
This goes 7 minutes too, and it is not good. No chemistry at all, and they try to have Batista bumping around and shit and just...nope. Batista hits the Batista Bomb near the end of 7:19, but Rey pulls the ref out and the clock runs out, so Rey wins the night.
*3/4

Rey runs up to the stage and Batista is mad. Vickie comes out and says Batista was robbed, and he clearly was, so she books Rey/Batista next week in a #1 Contender's Match.

TONIGHT: DX/Jerishow for the belts

Guest host BRET HART COMES OUT TO OPEN THE SHOW IN JORTS AND WITH AWFUL NEW MUSIC! He says hell froze over and it's been 12 years. He says WWE Universe and that is awful. He thanks everyone and says he remembers winning KOTR in this building. He waves to Lawler then and Lawler comes back with a resentful "hey...Hitman...." that is amazing. He says he's come back for closure. AND HE CALLS OUT SHAWN MICHAELS FUCK YEAH! They have an awesome staredown and Bret wants to bury the hatchet, but Shawn is a piece of shit and says Bret deserved what happened in Montreal after disrespecting him and the WWE. He says part of him doesn't regret it, but he knows a lot of things have changed. He says he always respected Bret, but Bret never respected him. He then sucks the dick of their Mania match and claims it changed wrestling. He says he's ready to move on too, and they have a super awkward hug.

Posted Image

I mean...good for them, but that's fucking weird. Shawn leaves, and Bret then calls out Vince McMahon! But he refuses to come out.

In the back, Vince says nobody calls him out, and he'll call Bret out later.

Melina got injured, so the title is vacated and there's a tournament.

Match #1: Maryse vs. Brie Bella w/ Nikki Bella [Quarterfinals]
This is 2 minutes of nothing and Maryse wins.
3/4*

As Maryse leaves....MIZ COMES OUT WITH NEW EPIC MUSIC! He says if she wins the tournament, he might call her back, and she makes an epic "fuck me" face. He says 2010 is The Miz's year, and he's going to go scout talent. BECAUSE HE'S THE MIZ AND HE'S AWESOME! Miz then comes on commentary.

Match #2: MVP vs. Jack Swagger vs. Carlito vs. Mark Henry [US Title #1 Contender's Match]
This is 3-4 minutes of not much going on. Too much of everyone who isn't MOK, and thus doesn't give a shit. MVP beats Swagger with the Playmaker.
*3/4

In the back, Jerishow talks about how this is their last shot. Jericho says he has a plan. Jericho leaves and says he's not leaving Raw and Show says he doesn't want him to go.

In the back, Jericho goes into Bret's office. Jericho says he knows Bret despises Shawn and he has an idea. He wants Bret to be the referee and then when he puts Shawn in the Walls, Bret can ring the bell and get even. Bret says he wants this thing to be over forever and he doesn't want to be a hypocrite like Jericho.

In the back, H tells Hornswoggle that he can't have any toys unless they win tonight. Shawn and Santino get involved and it stops being funny. H then tells Shawn to think about the tag belts and not Taker at Mania.

Match #3: D-Generation X [c] w/ Hornswoggle vs. JeriShow [WWE Unified Tag Team Championship]
At least it was only 9 minutes, I guess. Show carried it since nobody else is trying or good. Horrible Shawn hot tag, and Show having to sell some of his weak ass strikes was so hard to watch. H gets back in and pins Jericho with the Pedigree.
*3/4

In the back, Orton talks to Vince. He is still mad at Orton and Orton says he knows Vince has done business with people he hates before, and if he punts Bret in the skull tonight, Vince will be protected from Bret, he'll kill another legend, and all he wants is the #30 spot in the Rumble. Vince says he already has his own security and he tells Orton not to ever talk to him again. He then walks off and Priceless is waiting for him. They thank him for threatening them last week and Cody says this week, they'll be at ringside when he fights Kofi, and if he doesn't win then HE'S out of Legacy! FUCK YEAH! Feels like Orton is slowly about to get what's coming to him. It's a shame Orton never had the truly conclusive end to his heel run that he had coming for all the heinous shit he did from 2003-2010.

NEXT WEEK: MIKE TYSON AS GUEST HOST

Sheamus comes out to cut a promo on Cena. He says he's done with John Cena and would not be defending the title against Cena again at the Royal Rumble. Evan Bourne comes out and says Sheamus got lucky at TLC because of the opportunity he got, and he could beat Sheamus if he had an opportunity. Sheamus says that's fair, and if Bourne can beat him right now, he'll give him a title shot!

Match #4: Sheamus vs. Evan Bourne
Awesome, AWESOME, 2 minutes. Bourne's offense is super crisp as always and he takes some lunatic bumps to put over Sheamus' offense. Sheamus kicks out of Air Bourne mid-way through and then kills Bourne. He wins with the High Cross.
**

R.I.P. "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS :( :( :(

A video airs on Shawn/Bret in Montreal.

Match #5: Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston
Priceless comes out to watch, as was established. This is their best match together. Nothing new really, just that they had the best flow and crispness with their usual spots, and it just worked better. Orton wins totally clean with the RKO. BYE KOFI'S PUSH!
**3/4

Vince McMahon comes out and gets on the mic. He says he has no reason to call out Bret Hart since everyone has closure. He thanks Bret for being the guest host tonight and plugs Tyson, but Bret Hart walks down to the ring with no music, making it much better. Vince says everyone wants the Sharpshooter, but he wants Bret to be a bigger man and he wants to hear what he has to say. Vince says before that, he wants to be honest and get things off his chest. He does believe Bret screwed Bret, he'll never forget him literally spitting in his face, or sucker punching him in the back or disrespecting him when he got into the Hall of Fame. He's slandered and trashed him for 12 years, and he wants Bret to start with "I'm sorry". Bret says he can think of a lot of two word statements to tell him, but that's not it. Bret says he's halfway to closure and it's a great feeling to have this all off his chest. He says they both want this to be over and it's a chance to make peace with him, and he knows Vince wants it as bad as he does. Vince says in the interest of being honest, he's right, he did want this just as badly as Bret. He says he remembers Bret's first WrestleMania, WrestleMania 2, and says he gave Bret opportunity and he fought his way to the top and he really was the Excellence of Execution. And one of the reasons this got so personal is because he was like a father to Bret, and that's why it hurt them both so badly. Vince talks about Stu Hart and says he'd like to nominate Stu into the 2010 Hall of Fame! Bret says he appreciates it and how much it'll mean to the family and he thanks him. Vince thanks Bret for all his contributions and for being himself tonight. Lastly, he wants to thank him for being the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. AND THEY SHAKE HANDS! YEAH! Vince holds up Bret's hand and they celebrate and

ECW on SciFi
January 5th, 2010
Louisville, KY

featured an opening in-ring promo by ECW World Champion Christian regarding the ECW Homecoming and facing the winner at the Royal Rumble; moments later, CM Punk, alongside Luke Gallows, interrupted at the entrance stage and said he would qualify later in the show, win the Homecoming the following week, and beat Christian for the title at the Rumble; moments later, Christian listed off the names of men who have already qualified and noted Punk was facing Mark Henry, a guy he might not even get by

Match #1: Shelton Benjamin vs. Chavo Guerrero [ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match]
They keep it under 5 minutes, so this is fine enough. Nothing amazing, just inoffensive stuff for 4 minutes. Shelton wins as expected.
**

Zack Ryder and Rosa come out on the stage and he brags about retiring Tommy Dreamer and says he's the new heart and soul of ECW.

RAW REBOUND!

Match #2: Ezekiel Jackson w/ William Regal vs. Vladimir Kozlov
Good 5 minutes. Zeke has good knee work. Vlad's comeback is not very good. Zeke wins clean with the Uranage.
**1/4

Post-match, Regal beats down on Kozlov and yells that he's a disappointment.

Match #3: CM Punk w/ Luke Gallows vs. Mark Henry [ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match]
Awesome 8 minutes. Punk takes huge bumps and is an awesome sneaky intelligent heel. He does a great job of getting across the idea of picking his spots and sticking and moving on the bigger man. All his kicks and pieces of offense look great and MOK rules at gradually being worn down. Gallows interferes and Punk hits a Roundhouse Kick to the head for the win.

Ted DiBiase vs. Chris Masters w/ Eve, Superstars (January 7th)
This is the first good Masters performance on Superstars in 2010, but not a great match. Some real nice bumps from Masters off of basic stuff, and it made Ted look great. Really felt like if Masters had more than 5 minutes like this had and a good opponent, he's capable of great stuff. Ted avoided the Masterlock and sent Masters into the turnbuckle, and then won with Dream Street.
**1/2

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Caylen Croft, Superstars (January 7th)

Goldust and Baretta are there. This is fine and all, but of the matches on this episode, it's sad that this got the most time. Croft is incomplete as a singles guy. His offense is iffy and he seems to struggle with a control seg, but Yoshi does well on his bumping and selling and has a good comeback. Yoshi wins with the Roundhouse Kick.
**1/4

Finlay vs. Mike Knox, Superstars (January 7th)

They got 7 minutes and MOTHERFUCKER IT WAS FINLAY/KNOX AND IT RULED AGAIN! Knox is brutal as a motherfucker. Finlay leans into everything to make it even more brutal and took great bumps. Knox got to do his epic big man spots and then Finlay's comeback was fantastic. They did the epic finish where Finlay intercepts the CROSSBODY OF MANLINESS with the Irish Rape Stick to the face for the win.

TONIGHT: Batista vs. Rey for the #1 Contender's spot

Batista comes out with a mic to open the show on the stage. He says to cut the music AND THEN...

"SPOTLIGHT....PLEASE!"

He says just like in 2009, 2010 has been him being screwed out of title shots that belong to him. He demanded T'Lo comes out to the ring and gives him his title match at the Rumble and explains why he's being treated unfairly, or he'll walk and since people paid to see him, they'll leave too. Rey Mysterio comes out and says Batista is a crybaby and last week was payback for costing him the World Title two weeks ago. Rey says he's scared that he'll beat him again and humiliate him, and Batista says he won't only beat Rey, but he'll cripple him again.

Match #1: Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler
Better than last week, and another great Ziggler showing. He takes huge bumps and his offense looks even better this week since Kane seems to be in the mood for actual good wrestling. Dolph gets the Sleeper on and refuses to let go. Kane rolls out to the floor, but Dolph keeps it on on the floor. He gets to 8 on the ref's count before letting go, and he slides in to win by count out.
**3/4

In the back, LayCool apologizes to Beth and says she looks pretty. Layla brings a piggy try full of lettuce and Michelle says it's a present for Mickie James. Beth says she has a match with Layla tonight, and she better get serious.

Match #2: R-Truth/Cryme Tyme vs. Chris Jericho/The Hart Dynasty w/ Natalya
This is not much. Too much Jericho and Cryme Tyme. Hart Dynasty looked very good though. It's weird seeing DH Smith as an improving wrestler after him being SO awful for so very long. Jericho ends up beating JTG with the Walls of Jericho.
**

CM Punk and Luke Gallows come out for a match, and Punk gets on the mic. Gallows brings a chair in and Punk goes over his promise last week to save a member of the WWE Universe. Luke gets a guy from the crowd, and he gets in the ring. Punk sits him down in the chair. Punk asks his name, and it is James. Punk says he has nothing to fear from them or at all anymore. Luke brings a small box in the ring, and Punk says what's about to happen is the most important moment of his life. He is about to accept him, and he's going to save him. He has him raise his right hand and swear to stop. James says he'll try and Punk yells that that is not good enough and straight edge is a commitment and he needs to learn that he needs to stop trying and start doing. James says he's going to change and Punk says they both know actions speak louder than words. Punk says there's one more thing he needs to do, and he has Luke get a shaver. Punk says this is a symbol of commitment against this poisoned society and a fresh start for James. Punk shaves him bald and says he will know that he's stronger than everyone else and he offers him a hand. James gets up and Luke applauds and Punk says it could happen to anyone next week.

Match #3: Luke Gallows w/ CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy
Gallows tries. He really does. His offense is fine and all, but Matt just sucks. Punk gets a distraction, allowing Luke to hit the 12th Step for the win.
*3/4

featured a backstage segment with Long and Maria regarding her being part of 'The Celebrity Apprentice;' moments later, Vickie Guerrero walked in, praised Maria, and then showed her the new line of WWE Mattel action figures and belts; the Great Khali, alongside Runjin Singh, then appeared and said he wanted to get all the figures and even Vickie's, which reminded him of the cows back home in India; Khali then mooed at Guerrero

Match #4: Beth Phoenix vs. Layla w/ Michelle McCool
Awesome squash. Layla's selling is pretty awesome and Beth rules on offense. The Glam Slam ends it.
*

Michelle attacks Beth post-match with help, and then Mickie James runs out and makes the save. Mickie then hits Phoenix with the Mick Kick in revenge for last week.

RAW REBOUND!

included Josh Matthews conducting a backstage interview with WWE IC Champion Drew McIntyre regarding his controversial disqualification win the previous week over John Morrison, during which McIntyre said he would go on to win the Royal Rumble; moments later, Morrison appeared and dared McIntyre to keep bragging, with McIntyre saying he was done with Morrison and was moving on to bigger and better things; Morrison then slapped McIntyre and fought with him until officials pulled them apart

Match #5: Rey Mysterio vs. Batista [#1 Contender's Match]
Good but not great. Lots of awesome Rey bumps and offense, but the lack of a clean finish or a real big finishing run kind of hurts this. Batista went for the Batista Bomb and then the gong hit. The lights went out and Batista was down when they came back on. Rey hit the Penguin Splash, but then the gong hit and the light went out, and Rey was down when they came back on. Taker was on the stage to end the show and the match is just over.

featured an opening segment in which Justin Roberts introduced Mike Tyson as the guest host for the night, with Tyson then showing footage of him being confronted by Steve Austin on Raw in 1998 and knocking Shawn Michaels out at the end of WrestleMania 14; as the fans started to chant "You screwed Shawn," WWE World Champion Sheamus interrupted, said Tyson wasn't an icon, and said being the world champion made him the baddest man on the planet; the two then faced off until Randy Orton appeared, said he wanted the world title, and wanted the title match at the Royal Rumble; moments later, John Cena came out and noted he had beaten everyone in the ring, even Tyson by way of "Mike Tyson's Punch Out," and argued he should get the title shot; Kofi Kingston then appeared, said Cena and Orton have had plenty of world title reigns and opportunities while he hadn't had any; Sheamus then said he wanted the Rumble off and told the other three to earn their title shot by winning the Rumble match; Tyson then said Cena, Orton, and Kingston would face off later in the show to determine Sheamus' challenger at the Rumble

Match #1: Alicia Fox vs. Kelly Kelly [Quarterfinals]
Only 2 minutes, thank the lord. Fox wins, but not with DAT SCISSORS KICK, so wtf.
1/2*

Before the match, Cody and Ted get on the mic and say this year, one of them will win the Royal Rumble and its their turn now.

Match #2: Priceless vs. Evan Bourne/Mark Henry
Great Bourne bumping. Priceless do fine enough and MOK rules on the hot tag, but this is only 4 minutes, so they're restricted somewhat. Cody beats Bourne with Cross Rhodes.
**

featured a backstage segment with WWE Unified Tag Team Champions Triple H & Shawn Michaels in which Michaels said he wanted to make peace with Tyson as he did the previous week with Bret Hart, during which Triple H tried to talk him out of it noting Tyson was insane; included a backstage segment with Tyson and Michaels in which Michaels said he forgave Tyson for knocking him out, with Tyson saying he enjoyed it and would like to do it again; moments later, Chris Jericho appeared and said he and Tyson were now friends and would face DX later in the show, and if Jericho's team won then he would have free range to come and go from Raw as he wants

Recap of Bret/Vince last week.

Jack Swagger is in the ring. He says he's going to win the Royal Rumble and challenges anyone to come out and throw him out. Santino comes out and they have a brief little match that's not even a match. It's like 30 seconds and he throws Swagger over the top to the floor.

Clips air of the Austin/Tyson incident in 1998.

Match #3: John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston [#1 Contender's Match]
Acceptable three way, but nothing special. Seemed like everyone was mailing it in at points here. Priceless came from the crowd to interfere behind the ref's back. Cody laid out Cena on the floor and Ted pushed Kofi off the top. Orton then beats Kofi again with the RKO to win.
**1/4

In the back, Hornswoggle finds Tyson and makes crotch chops. Tyson says if he sees him during his match, he'll tear his intestines out and jump rope with them, rip his brain out and smash it like Silly Putty. He then says to enjoy himself. AMAZING.

Miz cuts an absolutely AMAZING career promo that I cannot do justice, and MVP follows with another great one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPj5msv0SXo

Match #4: Eve vs. Katie Lea [Quarterfinals]
Horrible for a minute and Eve wins.
1/4*

SMOCKDAWN: REY/BATISTA IN A CAGE MATCH FOR THE TITLE SHOT

Vince McMahon comes out to the ring and brags about last week. He says Bret isn't here this week to get his payback because he's intimidated by him, and Bret Hart will never be on WWE TV again.

NEXT WEEK: DON JOHNSON AND JOHN HEDER GUEST HOST

Before the main event, Shawn gets on the mic and says he wants an answer from The Undertaker about a rematch.

Match #5: D-Generation X w/ Hornswoggle vs. Chris Jericho/Mike Tyson
This is a load of nothing until Tyson reveals a DX shirt under his normal t-shirt. He then KOs Jericho and Shawn pins him to win. I HATE.

TONIGHT: THAT BATTLE ROYAL

rior to the bout, Mendes introduced Ryder, with Ryder saying he was the new heart and soul of ECW and was above those competing later in the show in the ECW Homecoming; moments later, the Hurricane interrupted and said it would take Ryder more than one match to be the heart and soul of ECW, and Ryder was currently ECW's rear end; Mendes then began yelling at Hurricane in spanish, with Hurricane asking her to press 1 for English; Rosa then slapped Hurricane, with Hurricane clearing Ryder & Mendes from the ring

Match #1: Zack Ryder w/ Rosa Mendes vs. The Hurricane
Zack's control seg was perfectly fine, but this was still 8 minutes of Helms in 2010. Ryder wins clean with the Ruff Ryder.
*3/4

In the back, CM Punk and Luke Gallows cut a promo. Punk says he'll win the battle royal tonight and then regain the ECW Title at the Royal Rumble. He says it would enable him to start from the ground up, to teach the new ECW superstars the right way to live, and he will mold them in his image and likeness. And when he wins the ECW Title, ECW will cease to exist and will become solely the Straight Edge Society.

Match #2: Goldust vs. Trent Baretta
Both partners are there. This was only 5 minutes compared to Yoshi/Croft getting 8-9, but Goldust and Trent are the stronger members of their teams, so this was very good. Goldust ruled at bumping and selling and his hot comeback and punches were awesome as usual. Horribly, Trent wins clean with the Busaiku Knee.
**1/4

Christian comes out to do commentary.

Match #3: ECW Homecoming Battle Royal
The participants are: CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Kane, Ezekiel Jackson, Shelton Benjamin, Yoshi Tatsu, Matt Hardy, and Vance Archer. This is a good battle royal. They have a perfect mix of power guys and more high flyer type guys, but unfortunately, Bourne is eliminated in like 10 seconds by Kane. Punk is awesome at being a sneaky piece of shit. Shelton and Archer took each other out and fought on the floor. Zeke then threw out Matt. Zeke began throwing awesome power stuff out now and threw out Punk. Kane got rid of Yoshi and then Zeke clotheslined Kane out and Zeke wins the title shot.

Chris Masters w/ Eve vs. Carlito, Superstars (January 14th)
This is 3 minutes of not much, but Masters looked good again. Good bumping and his offense is actually starting to look good, which was always a weak point for him. Carlito was horribly sluggish and Masters wins with the Master Lock.
**

Jimmy Wang Yang/Slam Master J vs. Mike Knox/Charlie Haas, Superstars (January 14th)

Again not a long match, only 4 minutes or so, but still real good. Knox was fucking great again as usual and totally wiped out J with the CROSSBODY OF MANLINESS and was smoking both men with forearms all match. Yang had a fine hot tag, and he hits Haas with the Moonsault to win.
**1/2

Christian vs. William Regal w/ Ezekiel Jackson, Superstars (January 14th)

Obviously, this was great, as it's these two for 10 minutes. They begin with a few minutes of great matwork. It picks up and Zeke is ejected for getting on the apron. Christian takes his customary big bump to the floor to transition into Regal's epic control seg. Christian has an awesome comeback and they go through their big finishing run. Regal has some amazing forearms at the end, but Christian counters the Tiger Bomb into the Killswitch to win.

TONIGHT: Rey/Batista in a Steel Cage #1 Contender's Match

Match #1: Chris Jericho vs. John Morrison
Not great. This has all the flaws of their 2009 matches in terms of loose offense, convoluted spots from Morrison, and on top of that, both men are worse now than in 2010, and this is fairly phoned in. Drew McIntyre comes out to watch. He causes a distraction during a sloppy finishing run and Jericho wins with the Codebreaker.
*3/4

Drew gets in post-match, and he steps on Morrison's face.

Punk and Gallows come out for their match, and they save another fan named Trevor, and he has his head shaved like last week. The way Punk's slowly added more creepy cult leader vibes in week by week is really amazing.

Match #2: CM Punk/Luke Gallows vs. Cryme Tyme vs. Matt Hardy/The Great Khali vs. The Hart Dynasty w/ Natalya [#1 Contender's Match]
This is 6 minutes, and unfortunately, about half of that is Khali or Matt in this. Punk wasn't actually in this at all until the end, when Gallows beats JTG with the 12th Step after a blind tag that JTG missed.
*3/4

included an in-ring promo by Taker in which he said his dominance would continue into the new decade, what Batista and Mysterio experienced the previous week was a warning, and that whomever survived the steel cage match later in the show would not survive him at the Royal Rumble; Taker then discussed the challenges made by Shawn Michaels to face him in a rematch at the following WrestleMania, with Taker saying he would be on Raw to give his answer personally

Match #3: Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix
They got 3 minutes now, so this was better. Beth has some awesome pieces of offense. She gets DQ'd when she refuses to stop kicking Mickie in the corner.
*1/2

LayCool comes out now and Beth lets them get in. Beth leaves and LayCool beats down on Mickie.

In the back, Josh interviews Dolph Ziggler. He says he's on a roll, he would beat Kane, and then he would win the Royal Rumble.

Match #4: Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph again brings the goods and Kane also delivers. Ziggler takes a bunch of awesome bumps before taking over. His stuff all looks amazing again and his holds are pretty tight. They did an awesome job of teasing the countout finish from last week, but Kane managed to back him into the post to stop it this time. Dolph tries the Peace Zig, but Kane catches it into a Sidewalk Slam. Zig flips out of that, but then runs into a Chokeslam and Kane wins.
**3/4

Match #5: Rey Mysterio vs. Batista [#1 Contender's Steel Cage Match]

Only 7 minutes, but they deliver. Great job of playing to the big/little dynamic. Rey climbs and jumps all around and tries to get out whenever possible. He took huge bumps for Batista's stuff. Batista did eventually catch Rey and started killing him. He refused to escape, and it cost him. He went for the Batista Bomb, but Rey grabbed the top of the cage and climbed over. Batista tried to get out the door before Rey dropped, but Rey kicked the door in his head and dropped down to win.

TONIGHT: Cena/Kofi vs. Priceless

Vince McMahon comes out to open the show, and he gets on the mic. He says he did what he did to Bret Hart so people would remember him for what he was rather than what he's become. That seems pretty fair, given the result of this angle. He says Bret was like a piece of gum that lost its flavor and he put down that broken down old warhorse. He says he puts them down when they lose value to him. He blames the fans too, because they're the ones who always want new things. BUT OH SHIT, THE FUCKING UNDERTAKER COMES OUT TO THE RING! Vince says he wasn't finished but Taker says it's his time now. He says Vince's ego won't allow him to admit something. He says there's not many of them left, but he was there in Montreal, and he saw the whole thing. He saw the fear in his eyes then, and he sees it now, and says Vince screwed Bret Hart, not once, but twice. And now he's terrified of the consequences, as he should be, because he acted like a coward. Vince disagrees, but leaves and admits it's now Taker's time. He says Vince is stubborn, angry, and in denial, but so is Shawn Michaels! He says about a year ago, Shawn said he would end The Streak, and for more than a month now, Shawn's been trying to get his attention for a rematch this year. He says he wants to deliver his answer personally, and Shawn Michaels comes out to the ring. Taker says he came closer than the others, but he still failed. A rematch will only result in more bitter disappointment for him, and he says he has nothing to prove to him, and his answer is NO! Shawn is mad, and Taker says he'll give Shawn the opportunity tonight to beat him, but Shawn says he wants it at WrestleMania. He says he realizes what he has to do now, and he's going to enter and win the Royal Rumble, he wants Taker for the World Title at WrestleMania!

Match #1: Sheamus vs. Evan Bourne
Another awesome 2 minute squash carried by Bourne. Orton comes out to watch and Sheamus wins with the High Cross.
**

featured a backstage segment with Michaels and WWE Unified Tag Team Champion Triple H, with DX then speaking with guest co-host Don Johnson; Michaels then walked off, with Johnson and Triple H then discussing whether guest co-host Jon Heder was going to show up or not; Johnson then found someone dressed as Napoleon Dynamite, but it turned out to be Carlito who then walked off

Match #2: Mark Henry vs. Jack Swagger [Over The Top Rope Challenge]
MOK wins in 30 seconds.
Biggie's WCW feedback

included a backstage segment in which Heder, Brie & Nikki Bella arrived in a limo, with Heder speaking to someone in the limo and telling them to stay in the car until he called for them; Heder then jokingly said "Go Nashville!" before one of the Bellas whispered they were in Knoxville, with Heder then saying "Go Knoxville!"

included a segment in which Johnson, Heder, and the Bellas came out to the ring, with Johnson saying the main event would feature DX; Heder said DX was OK but they needed something new and then brought out his "close personal friend" WWE US Champion Mike Mizanin, with Miz then thanking Heder for putting him in the Royal Rumble match; Miz then commented that Triple H said Johnson should be hosting the show alone and said Johnson once was the hottest thing on TV; Miz then compared Tubbs to MVP, with MVP then interrupting from the entrance stage and apologizing for the antics of Napoleon Dynamite and Pedro (Miz); MVP then said he was now part of the Royal Rumble match and said his goal was to throw Miz out of the ring; MVP then said he would go ahead and throw Miz out of the ring and would follow by throwing out Heder; the Big Show then came out, with MVP fighting off Miz until Show knocked him out; Heder then said Show was his insurance policy for the night and that Show & Miz would face DX later in the broadcast, with Johnson saying he wanted no part of them

Match #3: John Cena/Kofi Kingston vs. Priceless
Good basic 8 minute tag. Cena had some nice sells. Ted was pretty off all night, so that didn't help. Kofi gets a flash tag and beats Ted with a Crossbody off the top. Strange finish.
**1/2

included a backstage segment with Heder, Show, and Miz with Hornswoggle then appearing and yelling at Heder; Triple H then appeared and said Hornswoggle just challenged Heder to a match; after Triple H had words with Miz & Show, he suggested Hornswoggle and Heder be added to their respective teams for later in the show, with Show & Miz agreeing

Match #4: Eve/Gail Kim vs. Maryse/Alicia Fox
These are the bitches in the semi-finals. They get 3 minutes and fail to do much of anything correctly. The faces win.
3/4*

included a backstage segment with Johnson, Kelly Kelly, and Heder in which Heder began freaking out about being part of the main event, with Miz & Show then walking in and reassuring Heder that they had it under control; Johnson then told Heder he was making a mistake, with Miz saying "Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man" was a mistake; Miz & Show then gave Heder a Ric Flair-style robe, which read "The Flame" on the back

In the back, H talks to Vince about the Bret thing and asks why all McMahons have to have the last word on everything. Bret could have just had his moment and walked off again, but because he humiliated him, he's backed himself into a corner. If he calls Bret out again, he'll get his ass kicked probably, but if he doesn't, everyone will know that he's a coward. Vince walks off and Shawn comes over. He asks what he wanted to tell him, but H says it can wait until later.

Match #5: Randy Orton vs. Chris Masters w/ Eve
Good 3 minutes. Masters again has some real good bumps and sells. Sheamus comes out to watch. Masters' bits of offense looked very good, and Orton wins with the RKO.
**

Post-match, Sheamus gets in and he hits Orton with the Brogue Kick.

Match #6: D-Generation X/Hornswoggle w/ Don Johnson vs. ShoMiz/John Heder
Not very good, but that's to be expected. Swoggle beats Heder with the Tadpole Splash.
*1/4

H gets on the mic and says he's been trying to say this all night long, and they need to talk. He says Shawn's going to have to figure out another way to get his match, and then John Cena comes out. He announces that he's officially in the Royal Rumble. Big Show gets up on the floor and says he's also in it. He attacks them, but Cena gets rid of him. DX throws Cena out and then H throws Shawn out and says none of them will win, because he's going to win the Rumble.

TONIGHT: Christian vs. Regal

The Abraham Washington Show is up first, and Santino is the guest host, filling in for Abe. AND HIS GUEST, VLADIMIR COSTCO! AMAZING! AHUHUHUHUHUHUH! Vlad comes on and Santino says he wanted an immigrant but Christian, Yoshi Tatsu, and Khali had plans. Kozlov says he got in with a bad crowd and people do not like him so much. Santino asks if he means ECW, but he says he means the Ukranian biker gang he got mixed in with for three beautiful years. Santino asks how he likes the US and he says he likes it, but people are scared of him, probably because of Rocky IV, but he assures you, he is NOT Ivan Drago. AMAZING. He says he loves America and loves Hannah Montana, chili cheese fries, and Wal Marts that are open 24 hours a day. Santino says they should be a tag team, and he immediately says no. Santino tries to end the show, but Tony says they have plenty of time, so Santino just leaves.

THE BEST SEGMENT!

Posted Image

Match #1: Goldust/Yoshi Tatsu vs. The Dudebusters
Goldust again really shined. Yoshi got isolated and it was an acceptable control seg. Goldust brought a really fucking amazing hot tag. Great punches, tons of fire and energy, etc. He has a roll up on Croft behind the ref's back, and Baretta hits the Busaiku Knee and Croft covers for the win.
**1/2

included an in-ring promo by Zack Ryder, alongside Rosa Mendes, in which he bragged about his victory the previous week over the Hurricane and wanted to now be referred to as the new heart and soul superhero of ECW; Ryder then had Savannah come in the ring and introduce him as such; Rosa then began yelling at Savannah for doing it wrong until the Hurricane ran out and cleared Ryder and Rosa from the ring; Hurricane then took Savannah's hand and kissed it

Match #2: Christian vs. William Regal w/ Ezekiel Jackson
They get 13 minutes this time, and hey, it is amazing again. They do awesome matwork again, and it is totally different than their match last week and even better. Lots of nasty little Regal moments both on the mat and when they got going with faster stuff. Him kicking Christian in the back of the knee to get out of a backslide was fantastic. Regal's control seg was great again. Tons of great forearms. There was a very Regal/Benoit-ish vibe to this in terms of how hard fought everything was, although Christian is no Benoit. In both good and bad ways. Christian has a good comeback and they start to move into another epic finishing run that would make this their best match yet and then Zeke attacks Christian for the DQ. :(
***1/4

Regal hits the Knee Trembler on Christian and then Zeke hits the Uranage.

TONIGHT: Rey calls out The Undertaker

Match #1: Batista vs. Finlay
This was 90 seconds of good stuff before Batista got DQ'd for excessive violence on the floor. BULLSHIT.
*1/2

Batista throws Finlay into the steps, the announce table, and the barricade. He gets on the mic and says he'll do that to 29 people in the Rumble and kept beating on Finlay and said he would beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania to end the Streak.

The true tragedy of this is that it's the end of Finlay on WWE TV, although he would occasionally work house shows until he left. A man who for every full year he was in the WWE (06, 07. 08, 09), got over 100 points and placed in the top 10. Lots of people can be good, but it's a rare guy who makes a place better because he's on the roster, and Finlay did that. Upsetting to see him go.

Clips of Rey winning the Royal Rumble in 2006.

The absolutely AMAZING angle happens where Punk and Gallows save a young woman named Serena: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHeET5b4q70

NEXT WEEK: DREW/MORRISON IN A NO DQ MATCH FOR THE IC TITLE

Match #2: Chris Jericho/Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison/R-Truth
This getting like 15 minutes was not a good decision. Morrison looked good early on and took a big bump to the floor, but he soon stopped being good as it went on, and got sloppier. Jericho and Drew sort of worked on the arm, but they randomly did other stuff too and it seemed half-assed. Truth had his usual ridiculous hot tag. Morrison kicks Jericho in the head from the apron and Truth beats him with the Scissors Kick.
**

Clips air of Rey winning the title at Mania 22.

featured an in-ring segment with WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool & Layla in which they said McCool was supposed to face Mickie James at the Royal Rumble but that was now off because Mickie was leaving Smackdown! forever; they then showed off the food they had in the ring for a going away party, including cakes in the shapes of pigs; moments later, Maria came out to the ring and said the only thing McCool & Layla were good at was torturing Mickie and that they should be the ones leaving the show; Mickie eventually came out and said she had dealt with women like McCool & Layla all her life and that she looked like a real woman, as did Maria and all the other women in the crowd; Mickie then said the only people that will tell her where to go are the WWE Universe and that she would be at the Rumble to teach them some manners; the four women began fighting in the ring, with Beth Phoenix then coming out, thinking about who to go after, throwing Maria to the floor, and then helping triple team Mickie in the ring; moments later, McCool took a pig off one of the cakes and shoved it into Mickie's face, then dumped a bowl of punch over her head

Match #3: Cryme Tyme vs. Mike Knox/Charlie Haas
This is good for a minute until Kane comes out and kills them all and throws them over the top to the floor.
*

Match #4: Matt Hardy/The Great Khali vs. The Hart Dynasty w/ Natalya

This was only 2 minutes, at least. The control seg on Matt was fine enough. He then got a cradle to win. Lame.
*1/2

featured a closing in-ring promo by Mysterio in which he referenced winning the World Heavyweight Title four years ago and said World Heavyweight Champion the Undertaker was the only thing standing between Mysterio and reliving his dream; Mysterio then called Taker out to tell him face-to-face that he wasn't afraid; moments later, Taker appeared, with Mysterio saying he wasn't afraid of him in their last title match and would beat Taker for the title at the Rumble; Taker then said he admired Mysterio's courage but no one beats the grave and Mysterio was digging his own; the champion then left the ring, with Mysterio taking the mic and saying he wasn't like Taker's other victims; Batista then attacked Mysterio from behind and dropped him with the sit-down powerbomb as Taker returned ringisde; Batista then left through the crowd as the show ended

Match #1 D-Generation X vs. Priceless

DX have tension after last week. Shawn looked horrible on offense. Shitty Manhattan Drops, weak chops and punches, etc. Took some good bumps though. The control seg on Shawn was good, especially from Cody. DX starts to break apart at the end with miscommunication and Shawn pushes H out of the way to Superkick Ted for the win.
**1/2

SMOCKDAWN: DX VS. PUNK/GALLOWS FOR THE BELTS

Clips air of Cena on Psych.

prior to the bout, MVP cut an in-ring promo on WWE US Champion Mike Mizanin in which he said Miz would eventually have to stop hiding behind guest hosts and Show, with Miz then appearing and saying "Straight up ballin'" is a term MVP picked up in prison; MVP then said Miz would be popular behind bars and that other inmates would fight over being his exclusive friend

Match #2: The Big Show vs. MVP
Show wins in like a minute with the Chokeslam clean. Weird way to push a guy.
3/4*

Post-match, Miz holds the title up over MVP.

In the back, Orton talks to Priceless. He says they haven't been on the same page for a while, and he doesn't like it. He asks where they were last week when Sheamus jumped him, and says he's waited way too long to get his WWE Title rematch, and he's going to regain the title with or without them.

featured a backstage segment with Cena and guest host Dule Hill in which Hill said guest host James Roday couldn't make it because he had to have an emergency appendectomy; Cena then spoke about how fun it was to host "Psych" and got Hill pumped up to be hosting Raw; Cena then left, with WWE US Champion Mike Mizanin walking in and saying he was more famous than Hill & Roday combined, with Hill saying he would put Miz in a match later in the show against an opponent of his choosing

Match #3: Maryse vs. Eve [Semi-Finals]
This was 2 minutes of nothing and Maryse wins.
3/4*

Vince McMahon comes out and he gets on the mic. He says he is not a coward and there's no reason to bring Bret back. He says the idea of economics is to buy low and sell high, and that's what he did with Bret Hart. He says people had forgotten about Bret Hart until his name came up a few months ago. The fans chant for Bret and Vince asks if they want him. He then announces that Bret Hart....WILL NEVER AGAIN APPEAR IN THE WWE! John Cena then comes out and says he doesn't usually have a problem with Vince, but every once and a while, he gets this idea in his head that people, WWE superstars who work their asses off for the fans and for him, are nothing more than commodities with expiration dates. He asks if he thinks people like Shawn Michaels, Taker, Batista are disposable, and asks if he's disposable. Vince says he doesn't know what he's talking about. Cena says people don't respect Vince as a man because all he cares about is stroking his own ego, and it's a shame when a guy like Bret Hart, who's done so much, gets brought on the show so Vince can serve his ego, humiliate him, and then never bring him back again. Cena says Vince isn't a coward, he's pathetic. Cena tells him to bring Bret back next week because he deserves a chance to confront him face to face. And if he doesn't, he proves to everyone in the back and in the crowd and at home, that they're nothing more than commodities to line his wallet and serve his ego. And if he doesn't, he promises to find Vince on his 90th birthday in 2035, since he'll probably be another washed up old guy who Vince has disposed of by then, and he'll find him and knock his teeth out. Cena says this is one of those times where Vince needs to do the right thing, and he leaves. Vince stops him and says to listen to him and he invites Bret back next week! He then books Cena/Sheamus tonight since he wants to see Sheamus beat him again.

Match #4: Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz
This is 3 minutes of not much. MVP came out to distract Miz, and Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise for the win.
*3/4

included a backstage segment in which Carlito showed Hill the production truck, with Hill bringing up Carlito's match graphic and then said he would bring up a random code to find out Carlito's opponent later in the show, with Hill then choosing Kelly Kelly

Carlito fought Kelly Kelly to a no contest when Santino Marella came out before the match began, held up "The Best of Raw: 2009" DVD, said he looked stupid in it, and was going to make the "Best of Raw: 2010" DVD by coming to Kelly's rescue, beating Carlito, and then winning the Royal Rumble; Santino then slid in the ring but was immediately jumped from behind by Jack Swagger, who threw Santino to the floor, and them rammed him head-first into the ringpost before doing push-ups beside his body and leaving ringside

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS

Match #5: Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox [Semi-Finals]
Again, 2 minutes of nothing. Gail wins.
1/2*

NEXT WEAK: SHATNER GUEST HOSTS

Match #6: John Cena vs. Sheamus
Their best match yet. Not amazing or anything, but they have their basic stuff and it's done really well. Cena takes some awesome bumps. At 9 minutes or so, it's not long enough to the point where they run out of interesting stuff, like all their PPV matches. Sheamus hits Cena with the Brogue Kick on the floor and he is almost counted out, but Orton runs out and hits Sheamus with the RKO, so Sheamus wins by DQ.
**3/4

Orton tries to hit Cena with the DDT on the middle rope, but Cena gets in and hits Orton with the FU to close the show.

Regal is in the ring to open the show, and he introduces your next ECW Champion, Ezekiel Jackson. He says it is 5 days until Christian's reign is over. Christian comes out and says he loves Biblical quotes and all, since he's Christian. He has an excerpt from the Book of Ezekiel too, and it is the the Samuel Jackson Passage. Zeke says he hasn't faced anyone like him as ECW Champion, and Christian says he's beaten everyone in front of him and he has a partner to face them now, and Kane comes out.

Match #1: Christian/Kane vs. William Regal/Ezekiel Jackson
This gets 15 minutes, so it is good. Christian and Regal carried it, obviously. The Zeke/Kane power stuff was good, and Christian and Regal did a great job of bumping for them. Christian ruled as a face in peril, and Regal's stuff was fantastic. Zeke's power got put over a ton. Kane had a solid hot tag and the finishing run was good. Christian gets back in and he hits Regal with the Killswitch, but then Zeke hits him with the Uranage for the win.

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS

featured a backstage promo by the Shelton Benjamin regarding his participation in the Royal Rumble, during which Vance Archer jumped Benjamin from behind, knocking him out

Match #2: Goldust/Yoshi Tatsu/The Hurricane vs. The Dudebusters/Zack Ryder w/ Rosa Mendes
This got 12 minutes, because ECW is amazing. Hurricane was the only real weak link, as the heels all stepped up. Yoshi was good as usual, and Goldust was amazing again. Everyone banded together to carry Helms, and the heels had a good control seg on him. Yoshi had a great hot tag and Goldust got in to be awesome too. Yoshi beats Trent with the Roundhouse Kick.

TONIGHT: DX vs. Punk/Gallows for the tag titles, Drew/JoMo for the IC Title in a No DQ match

DX comes out to open the show with the tag match and they prepare for their shtick, but Rey Mysterio comes out. He says he thinks Shawn doesn't have any respect for him, the way he talks about facing Taker at Mania, just assuming he's walking out of the Rumble with the title. He asks if he thinks Taker will beat him, and Shawn says yes, and he wants to know why he's getting in his face. H says Rey is looking for a fight, but Hornswoggle's not here, so he should run along. Rey says if he wants to tell jokes, he's got one, and they won't be laughing when on Sunday, he does what neither of them could do at WrestleMania and what Shawn won't get a chance to do again, and that's beat The Undertaker! Rey says if there's a problem here, they can take care of it tonight. The Straight Edge Society then comes out, now including Serena. They have the chair and shaving stuff. Punk says they have a tag title match tonight, so Rey has no business here. Punk says he's here to lead his crusade. H says he's been watching SD, and nobody really cares that he doesn't drink, and he says he doesn't drink or smoke or do drugs either, but he's not shoving it at anybody. He shits on Punk looking homeless and T'Lo comes out. He books Rey/Shawn later and H/Punk next.

Match #1: Triple H vs. CM Punk w/ Luke Gallows & Serena
They get 9 minutes and delivers. H pretty much lets Punk do his thing, and Punk is probably the best in WWE at this point, so it rules. Punk actually connects on his Springboard Clothesline for once, which was shocking. His control seg ruled again and his strikes looked great. H makes his comeback and Punk's selling is awesome. H goes for the Pedigree, but Serena and Luke get involved for the DQ.
**3/4

They beat on H and go to shave his hair, but Shawn Michaels runs out to save and the SES bails.

Match #2: Chris Jericho vs. R-Truth
This is not very good again. Jericho's control seg is routine stuff that doesn't look good, lots of loose holds, etc. Truth does his thing with his ridiculous flipping and spinning offense. They have some nearfalls, and Truth wins again with a roll up.
*3/4

In the back, Batista says what he did last week was put the spotlight back on him where it belongs, and if anyone robs him of what's his again, a title shot at WrestleMania, they're going to get hurt.

Match #3: Drew McIntyre [c] vs. John Morrison [WWE Intercontinental Championship - No DQ]
No idea where this came from, but this was AWESOME! Really great out of control vibe at points. Morrison dominates early on with actual good looking strikes until Drew uses a kendo stick on the ribs. He works the ribs and Morrison actually sells well. He makes a comeback while still selling and it breaks down greatly. They go into the crowd and Morrison has a great dive over the railing like AJ Styles used to do. He uses the kendo stick in revenge and they use the steps well. Drew's strikes all looked great too. He gets his knees up on Starship Pain and hits the Scot Drop on the belt to win. If I had seen this at the time, I would have come to the conclusion that Drew is a good wrestler long before I actually did.
***1/4

Michelle McCool comes out and says she has an open challenge. Layla comes out with a fake pig snout and with an amazing fat suit on and Piggy James shirt to accept, and she says she cried all week about not getting to eat cake last week.

Match #4: Michelle McCool vs. "Piggy James"
This is about a minute and Michelle wins with a roll up.
1/2*

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS!

Match #5: Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels
Better than their 2005 match. Rey was clearly better than Shawn here, but Shawn decided to deliver for once too. He had some nice subtle heel pieces of offense when he was in control, and Rey bumped and sold well. Shawn decided to actually sell the leg after some Rey kicks to the leg, although Shawn selling a limb at all seems to point to it actually hurting. They had a good finishing run and Shawn caught Rey out of a springboard with the Superkick, but Batista ran out to attack Shawn for the DQ.
***

H comes out to save, and he fights Batista to the back. The Undertaker then comes out and he hits Rey and Shawn with a Double Chokeslam to end the show.

WWE ROYAL RUMBLE 2010
JANUARY 31ST, 2010
ATLANTA, GA

Match #1: Christian [c] vs. Ezekiel Jackson w/ William Regal [ECW Championship]

Another great Christian title defense. They play to the idea of power vs. speed/experience a lot. Zeke throws Christian around until he can outmaneuver and out-quick him to get offense in. Christian makes Zeke look awesome on offense. Regal is ejected mid-way through. Zeke's control seg is real good. Epic Northern Lariat. They did a great job with the ideas that Zeke is too strong for the Killswitch to work and that whenever Zeke allows distance, Christian can get in big offense. Christian slid out of a Powerslam and hit a super quick Killswitch for the win.
***1/4

In the back, Cryme Tyme talks to T'Lo and Tiffany. Cryme Tyme is upset about only getting one spot between them and they try and get Khali's spot and say if they get his spot, he can kiss Tiffany. He doesn't want to, and T'Lo says they're looking like fools with their pants on the ground and everyone sings. Awesome. Miz comes in and ruins it, so T'Lo books him vs. MVP for the US Title next! Miz somehow accepts this, and T'Lo now has PPV jurisdiction.

In the back, Cody talks to Orton. He says he's got his back tonight, and tentatively tells Orton that Ted might not, since all he talks about is going to win the Rumble and facing Orton for the title at WrestleMania.

Match #2: The Miz [c] vs. MVP [WWE U.S. Championship]
This was not good. Seemed like MVP was off big time, as his usually good boots and punches didn't connect well at all. Miz was hit and miss throughout. They also only had 7 minutes and wasted like 2 minutes in a shitty chinlock by Miz. They then did stuff and Miz caught MVP climbing back inside with a cradle for the win.
*3/4

Miz talks trash, so MVP hits him with the Playmaker.

In the back, Orton walks and Ted stops him. He says he has his back tonight and he claims Cody said he can't wait to fight Sheamus for the title at Mania. Orton says he doesn't want either of them out there and walks off.

Match #3: Sheamus [c] vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship]
This is the first in a seemingly never ending series of mediocre matches between them. They had some good stuff, but overall, the heel/heel thing made it kind of awkward. Orton worked the leg on occasion and Sheamus' selling was good. Sheamus worked the arm, but Orton's selling was nonexistent. Cody hopped the railing to attack Sheamus on the floor and the ref saw it. Sheamus rolled into the RKO in the ring, but Orton is DQ'd for interference.
**1/2

Cody apologized in the ring, and Orton starts beating the shit out of him. Ted comes out to save and pulls Orton off, but Orton then attacks him. Sheamus gets back in to hit Orton with the Brogue Kick. He leaves, and then Cody and Ted walk out on Orton.

FIVE TIMES IN MY LEFT KNEE!

Match #4: Michelle McCool [c] w/ Piggy James vs. Mickie James [WWE Women's Championship]
Mickie wins with the DDT in 20 seconds.
45/poop

All the babyface women come out with a cake now and they smash it on LayCool.

Hype video for Rey/Taker.

Match #5: The Undertaker [c] vs. Rey Mysterio [World Heavyweight Championship]
Awesome face/face match. Lots of big/small spots. Rey takes more completely ridiculous bumps for Taker, and ridiculous doesn't do some of them justice. Taker's offense looks amazing due to how huge Rey bumps for it. They have a ton of amazing reversals playing on the big/little difference. Taker's nose gets busted, leading to him getting really nasty when he's in control. Great finishing run, and due to Rey managing to pull off wins on Batista by using his brain, they really got me to believe it was possible for him to beat Taker if he could string enough stuff together in succession. He caught Rey in mid-air though and hit a brutal Last Ride to win.
***1/2

In the back, Kane talks to Shawn Michaels. He says speaking as the only man to face Taker at Mania twice, he wants to tell him that whatever vision he has in his head of how he think it'll go, there is no light in the end, only darkness. Kane leaves, and H comes in. They suck each other off and agree that it's every man for himself.

WRESTLEMANIA 26: I MADE IT! Continuing the general decline of Mania songs since BIG TIME

Edge came out to open the show and talked for a while about the win. He brought up what Jericho's been saying about him, and said he's the Rumble winner, and Jericho has his mug shot all over TMZ. He discusses what title to challenge for, and Sheamus comes out. He brags about beating Cena and Orton and says if Edge challenges him, he'll put him back on the shelf. Edge says he made a career by beating up John Cena and he's beaten Orton too. Sheamus told him to back to Smackdown if he ever wants to wrestle again. Sheamus tried a cheap shot, but Edge fought back and hit the Spear.

TONIGHT: Bret confronts Vince, Elimination Chamber qualifying match

Hype video for the Chamber. SATAN'S STRUCTURE

Match #1: John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
Only 3 minutes, unfortunately. Good for 3 minutes, but still truncated. Cena wins with the FU.
**

Clips air of the Montreal Screwjob.

In the back, Vince talks to someone offscreen about how he hates Canadians. GUEST HOST WILLIAM SHATNER WALKS ON AND SAYS HE HOPES BRET KICKS HIS ASS! YES!

Match #2: Triple H vs. Jack Swagger [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
Foregone conclusion, but Swagger gets in a ton of offense and reminds people that he has the ability to be actually good. He ends up missing the Vader Bomb and H wins with the Pedigree.
**3/4

WILLIAM SHATNER SINGS WWE THEMES: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHg2z9ZgdEc

In the back, Shawn and H talk. Shawn is mad and H tries to get him to lighten up. Shawn says he was supposed to win the Rumble and H says he's obsessed and he's losing it. H says to get in the Chamber by winning his match tonight and maybe they can main event Mania against each other if that's what he wants, and he has Orton tonight, and he knows he can beat Orton.

Match #3: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
Pedestrian match between them. Clearly mailed in effort by both men without the benefit of a good finishing run. Shawn does the kip up, but Orton immediately schoolboys him for the win after that.
*3/4

Shawn is upset again.

WRESTLEMANIA: I MADE IT! 55 DAYS!

Match #4: Ted DiBiase vs. Mark Henry [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
MOK in the Chamber would rule, but unfortunately, Ted wins with a shitty DDT in under 3 minutes.
*3/4

In the back, Maryse talks to Gail Kim and K2 and says she doesn't want their issue to get as pathetic as Michelle McCool and Mickie James' on SD, and wishes her luck in their match.

In the back, Big Show and Miz wait in Shatner's office and want a tag title match. The SES then comes in and Punk says T'Lo robbed them of their tag title shot, so they came here to get it. Shatner comes in and plays RAW MATCH NEGOTIATOR! He books a three way for next week.

In the back, H tells Shawn that he doesn't need The Undertaker to be Mr. WrestleMania and he could face a ton of other guys. Shawn says not for him, and he leaves.

Match #5: Kofi Kingston vs. The Big Show [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
This rules as they work super well together. The Miz comes out to help Show, and late in the match, MVP comes out to run him off. Lots of good big/little stuff. Show is blinded and accidentally KO punches the ref. Another ref comes out and DQ's Big Show.
**3/4

NEXT WEEK: CARL EDWARDS GUEST HOSTS! I hope I don't have that one.

Shatner comes out, and he introduces Bret Hart! They shake hands, and Shatner leaves. Bret says a month ago, he came back for the right reasons, but he's not here tonight to make peace, he's here to call out Mr. McMahon. Vince comes out to the ring and says he doesn't regret anything he did to Bret, and Bret says that's the most honest Vince has ever been, and he's the best liar there was, the best there was, and the best liar there ever will be. He says John Cena was right last week, and he knows how pathetic feels, having had a stroke and having been in a wheelchair. He said when he got out of that wheelchair, he said he'd never feel pathetic again. But he felt pathetic again last month when Vince humiliated him. He says if he is just a chewed up piece of gum, he still has enough flavor to beat up Vince. Vince goes over Bret's nicknames and says, "WHAT A CROCK!!!" OH SHIT! Vince says Hart is nobody's hero and he still is pathetic. Vince says without guys like Mr. Perfect, Shawn Michaels, and Steve Austin, Bret would be nothing, and they actually had charisma and a control of the English language. He says he doesn't get why Bret ever caught on the way he did. He says Stu Hart isn't going in the Hall of Fame, BECAUSE HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT! AND BRET KICKS VINCE! He goes for the Sharpshooter, BUT BATISTA ATTACKS FROM BEHIND! He beats on Bret and holds him up so Vince can spit in his face! Awesome segment.

ECW on SciFi
February 2nd, 2010
Memphis, TN

featured an opening segment of 'The Abraham Washington Show,' with Washington and Tony Atlas, in which Washington said he had been off TV the past several weeks because he was being recruited by NBC to host 'The Tonight Show;' Washington then said he turned it down because he didn't want to deprive the WWE Universe; after Atlas made fun of Washington, Washington noted that Vince McMahon would be out later to address the future of ECW and said perhaps Atlans won't have a future; moments later, Washington introduced ECW World Champion Christian as his guest, with Christian talking about his win at the Royal Rumble over Ezekiel Jackson; Zack Ryder, with Rosa Mendes, then interrupted with Ryder showing Gregory Helms' mugshot on the big screen and made fun of the fact he got arrested for "being in a drunken brawl;" Christian then suggested Ryder was jealous because Helms made it on TMZ, said everyone makes mistakes, and then made fun of Ryder and Mendes; Ryder eventually got in Christian's face, with Christian shoving him onto Washington's couch

Match #1: Shelton Benjamin vs. Vance Archer
Shelton looked good, but Archer sure did suck a dick and drag this down. This is somehow the longest match of the show, and Archer wins with a pin using the ropes.
**

RAW REBOUND!

Match #2: Yoshi Tatsu vs. Trent Baretta
Goldust and Croft are there. They have a good 4 minute spotfest. Yoshi wins with the Roundhouse Kick.
**1/4

Vince McMahon comes out and in a horrible decision, clearly the worst in WWE history, "proudly" announces that ECW on SciFi will have its last episode in 2 weeks, and they would replace it with NXT. :( !

featured Helms conducting an in-ring interview with Ezekiel Jackson & William Regal regarding Jackson's loss at the Rumble; moments later, Regal brought up the fact Helms was having a tough week and said it was only going to get worse, with Jackson & Regal then double teaming Helms before Jackson dropped him with the uranagi and Regal followed with the knee to the head; eventually, Christian ran out and cleared the ring with a kendo stick

Match #3: Christian vs. Zack Ryder w/ Rosa Mendes
This is good stuff, but it's only 5 minutes, so it is the least of their matches together. Many awesome Christian moments. He hits the Killswitch, but Regal and Zeke run back down to attack Christian for the DQ.
**1/2

Zeke hits the Uranage, and keeps throwing Christian into the stairs on the floor to end the show.

WWE Smackdown
February 5th, 2010
Memphis, TN

featured an opening in-ring promo by Chris Jericho in which he said he should have won the Royal Rumble and deserved to be in the main event of WrestleMania after beating four men at WrestleMania 25; Jericho then said that while Edge had been out recovering for 7 months, Jericho was selling out arenas and carrying the company on his back and was too good to settle for nothing at WrestleMania; he said Teddy Long told him he would have to qualify for the Elimination Chamber and then told Long to come out and make the situation right; Jericho then went backstage when Long didn't show and demanded to be shown where Long's office was, walking past David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, and Natalya Neidhart before storming into Long's office where he found Edge instead of Long; Edge said Jericho created the monster and caused him to come back for revenge, with Jericho saying he would make Edge regret it and Edge saying he would make Jericho regret it instead

Elimination Chamber video.

Match #1: John Morrison vs. Kane vs. Drew McIntyre [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match - No DQ]
The end is the only part that played to the stip, and otherwise, this was not much. General meandering action and so-so performances for 7-8 minutes. Drew hits Kane with the Scot Drop on the title belt, but Morrison kicks Drew and hits Kane with Starship Pain for the win.
**

TONIGHT: Cutting Edge with The Undertaker

Match #2: R-Truth vs. Mike Knox [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
Truth wins in 90 seconds with some bullshit. Awful decision.
*1/2

RAW REBOUND!

They show clips of after Raw went off the air. Cena came out to help Bret up, but then Batista attacked him. He beat him down badly and Powerbombed him on the ring steps in the ring.

In the back, Punk talks to Luke and Serena. He says so far he's been able to protect and shelter them, but after seeing that and knowing he has Batista tonight, he needs to tell them that he's probably going to try and end their crusade and he wants to know how far they're willing to go for him. Serena says she'll do anything and Luke says he'll stick his head in the fire for his own salvation, and Punk says good, because they might have to.

Match #3: Batista vs. CM Punk w/ SES [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
Batista walks out on the match after the opening bell, so Punk wins by count out.
Clobbering Time

Punk celebrates like he won the Super Bowl, and Luke carries him around the ring.

In the back, Maria wishes Matt Hardy good luck. You're so much better than this, Maria.

Match #4: Chris Jericho vs. Matt Hardy [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
This was bad. And I don't even blame Jericho, despite him not being good since fall 2009, this was all Matt. Sluggish, sloppy, etc. Jericho wins with the Codebreaker.
*3/4

prior to the bout, Mickie cut an in-ring promo regarding her title win at the Royal Rumble until she was interrupted by Phoenix who said while Mickie spent the night beating up little girls, she was in the Rumble match with 29 men; Phoenix congratulated Mickie on her win but said she would take the title any time she wanted; Vickie Guerrero then appeared, said she would determine who faces who when, and said Mickie & Beth would face McCool & Layla in a tag team match; McCool & Layla then appeared, wearing "Simply Flawless" sweatshirts, and shook Vickie's hand on their way to the ring

Match #5: LayCool vs. Mickie James/Beth Phoenix
Really good 3 minutes. Some great Michelle/Beth matwork early on. Beth hits both Mickie and Michelle and walks out. Layla then took some epic bumps. Mickie beats Layla with a roll up.
**

The fucking Cryme Tyme segment is back.

Match #6: Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler [Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match]
It's these two for 8 minutes, so they absolutely tear it down. Both men take killer bumps in addition to their great chemistry. Ziggler's control seg ruled, as did the finishing run. Ziggler catching Rey's Springboard turning Crossbody into a Snap Powerslam was spectacular. Rey got a flash roll up to win, which is a nice little way of showing how much Dolph has improved since they last met.
***

featured a closing in-ring segment of "The Cutting Edge" in which Edge said he was happy to be back home, defied doctors' odds, returned to the ring months early, and was now on his way to WrestleMania; Edge then showed footage of his fight with WWE World Champion Sheamus during Raw and was on course to introduce World Heavyweight Champion the Undertaker as his guest for the night until he was interrupted by Jericho; Jericho said Edge didn't deserve to win the Rumble, with Edge reminding him that he eliminated Jericho en route to win the match and said he was sick of Jericho's catchphrases and persona; Punk, Gallows, and Serena then came out, with Punk insulting both Edge and Jericho and saying he's had the most success against Taker and would win the Elimination Chamber; moments later, Taker appeared in the ring and, alongside Edge, cleared Jericho, Punk, Gallows, and Serena from the ring; Edge then sized Taker up for the spear but Taker turned around and the two faced off as the show ended
